A list of puns related to "Greg Douglas"
Aye HHH,

Hey Soundcloud Music - just dropped this new track off the upcoming #WinthropSt EP coming out 11/12

We are set on Arthur for our boy, but canβt seem to find a good middle name for him.
CANNOT END IN AN N, CANNOT START WITH OR END IN AN R. (just donβt think that sounds so great with the R at the end of Arthur, and our last name starts and ends with an N as well.) I know that NOT ending with an N eliminates a lot of boys names, but it just sounds bad with our surname.
Some names we like but arenβt sure on:
Arthur Felix (we both love the name Felix but donβt feel comfortable using it for personal reasons)
Arthur Thomas (my dadβs middle name, Iβd love to use this but the meaning is important to me and Thomas means βtwinβ which he isnβt so it just doesnβt feel perfect to me haha)
Arthur Henry (I like this more than he does but he doesnβt hate it)
Arthur Bram (we love Dracula)
Arthur Dane (he is obsessed with this, I donβt like the name Dane but think it sounds good objectively)
We like Arthur more for the fantasy/legend aspect than the old man name/classic name aspect- I am very into history, but we donβt really love names like Robert, William, Charles, John, etc. and also donβt typically like super trendy/modern sounding names. James is fine but boring/overused as a middle so we donβt love that either.
I love the name Julian, but it violates the βcanβt end with Nβ rule and he hates it anyways. He likes Scandinavian names (he loves Bjorn, which I donβt love and which also violates the N rule haha)
Please help me! Iβm so stressed about his middle name. All the names we could use as honor names are names we just donβt really like, besides Thomas which Iβm thrown off by the meaning of. We love Lord of the Rings and thought about Arthur Reuel as a nod to Tolkien, but when I looked up the meaning of Reuel I realized it was Hebrew and I donβt feel comfortable using it as a non-Jewish person.
Here's a list of books, stories, and essays involving linguistics, language, and communication, taken from the comments for 5 reddit posts asking of books involving linguistics (including one post from r/linguistics), a Goodreads list, this list from a linguistic (includes lots of great nonfiction resources as well), and from the sf-encyclopedia on linguistics. Here are links to Wikipedia's articles for linguistic relativity (the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis, although this is considered a basically disproven hypothesis) and conceptual metaphor (largely championed by George Lakoff; see Metaphors We Live By). Both are pretty relevant for fiction that explores how language might shape our thinking.
The list is organized by how frequently an author or work was mentioned from my 8 sources. I proceed each with how many they were mentioned in, so that number should roughly reflect how relevant an author or work is to the linguistics theme and how popular the work is. I've included basically everything mentioned, since I haven't read most of these, so that does mean some of them may only be loosely related to linguistics, or just do something that's interesting with language. I've included comments with the ones I have read on how much it actually incorporates linguistics.

New York Giants
Out: GM Dave Gettleman, OC Freddie Kitchens (Interim)
In: GM Dave Ziegler, OC Adam Stenavich
Fans have been unhappy with Gettleman for years, and it seems like ownership is finally catching up. The Maras also seem content with holding on to former Patriots ST Coach Joe Judge as their locker room leader. If that is the case, it makes sense to bring in somebody Judge is already familiar with in Ziegler, the current Patriots' Director of Player Personnel. The 44-year-old is a Patriot through and through. He was college teammates with Nick Caserio (who he replaced following Caserio's move to Houston) and Josh McDaniels (under whom he was a scout in Denver). He has cut his teeth under Belichick, spending the last 9 years in the scouting department in New England. In his first year without the "assistant" being tagged onto his job title, Ziegler added key free agents in Kendrick Bourne, Matt Judon, and Hunter Henry. He also oversaw one of the best draft classes in recent Patriot history with Mac Jones a favorite to win ROTY on top of inspiring play from Christian Barmore and Rhamondre Stevenson.
In addition to Ziegler, Packers' OL Coach Adam Stenavich joins as the new offensive coordinator. A bit of an unknown name, Stenavich is a former NFL player that has really made the most of his coaching opportunities. With Green Bay, he has overseen a revolving door of elite late round picks at OL, from Corey Linsley to David Bakhtiari to Yosh Nijman. In 2021, the Packers have seen countless injury along the line yet still have maintained an elite unit. Prior to Green Bay, Stenavich was on Shanahan's staff in San Francisco, coaching the likes of Joe Staley, Mike McGlinchey, and Weston Richburg. While Stenavich is unproven as a playcaller, he has worked under two of the best young offensive minds in the game. On top of his promising resume, his area of expertise is one the Giants desperately need help with. Other than Andrew Thomas, the Giants' OL has been an endless pile of poop covered garbage.

I had heard there were 2 dubs of it because of a split between streaming and home video licenses. Being the (over)analytical person that I am, I wanted to do a mental exercise in comparing them, so a little while ago I set myself both some time and money to be able to watch both dubs in their entirety and scrutinized them, and here was the document I wrote out, reformatted to the best of my ability for Reddit.
Fair warning: This is a LENGTHY post.
Also, all of my evaluations for every aspect that I wrote out here is simply my opinion. You are by all means welcome to disagree where you feel appropriate. :)
Scriptwork:
Netflix:
Dialogue sounds more modern.
Some liberties taken from the actual translation (script is technically less accurate to the Japanese, but for the most part still manages to get the point across).
Character dialogue sounds like it flows a bit better, overall. Fewer instances of awkward pauses mid-sentence and no βstutteringβ from characters (i.e. characters saying the same word twice to try and fit pauses in lip flaps in some sentences).
Sentai:
Takes a more conservative approach, staying more true to the Japanese dialogue, but still does occasionally take liberties to give certain moments with certain characters more βoomph.β
Characters pause mid-sentence and stutter more with this script.
Has a tendency to add in bits of dialogue or sounds (grunts, gasps, sighs, etc.) here and there in moments where there was not meant to be any dialogue (ex: Thorfinn pushed a random guy out of his way in the beginning of episode 8. In both the Japanese version and Netflixβs dub, Thorfinn didnβt say anything as he did so, but in Sentaiβs dub, he said βassholeβ).
One egregious error: Thors calling Thorfinn βThorsβ in episode 4.
Swear words are used more religiously.
Audio Mixing:

1. Aaron Hickey, 19 (Bologna) - Left-back
Since landing at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara for a fee of just Β£1.5m from Heart of Midlothian in September 2020, itβs fair to say Aaron Hickey has went from boy to man since his time in the Scottish Premiership.
Hickey kicked off his Bologna career on a positive note in 2020 starting in 8 of the Red and Blues first 10 Serie A fixtures of the 2020/21 season. This run would abruptly come to an end at the beginning of December, however. Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi would share no Christmas joy with the then 18 year-old Scotsman, as they tore him to shreds at the San Siro - leading to Hickey being hooked on the 63rd minute. The 3-1 loss to Inter was only the beginning of Hickeyβs problems as only days later he caught covid-19. With a serviceable back-up in experienced former Ajax and Norwich City defender Mitchell Dijks filling in for Hickey whilst he was stuck with the ronaβ, the young Scotsman only spent 74 minutes on the pitch between December and February. Not many more would be to come though, as his first start back saw him sent for an early shower due to a reckless and lazy challenge on Mert MΓΌldur against Sassuolo leading to a straight red card. The final nail on the coffin of Hickeyβs first Bologna season was a shoulder injury which put him out for the rest of the campaign due to surgery. A season which started with such promise, but faded into misery.
This season Hickey has properly announced himself to Football Italia. Mitchell Dijks has been made to make way for one of Serie Aβs best young talents, as Hickey has featured in all 19 of the Greyhounds Serie A outings. The two footed full back has improved drastically, and the biggest improvement for me is his defending one-on-one. Hickeyβs tendency to βdive into the challengeβ was my main criticism of him both with Hearts and Bologna, however this season heβs a player whoβs looked a lot more assured and intelligent in the challenge when one-on-one with his attacker. Going forward heβs been just as sol

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I thought would be cool to get a thread going of some great matches that don't necessarily appear on 'best of' or Top 100 lists, but are still some of your favourite matches that everyone should check out. Searching for 'best wrestling matches ever' or whatever tends to throws up the same ones we hear about all the time, hopefully people can discover some cool matches here that aren't usually on those types of lists. Here are a few of mine to get started. Some of these are probably very well known but what the hell:
War Raiders vs Ricochet and Aleister Black (NXT Takeover: New York, 2019)
Steiner Brothers vs Nasty Boys (WCW Halloween Havoc 1990)
Kyle O'Reilly vs Katsuyori Shibata (NJPW King of Pro Wrestling 2016)
Rey Mysterio Jr vs Dean Malenko (WCW Monday Nitro, July 8th, 1996)
Mr Perfect vs Ric Flair (Monday Night Raw, January 25th 1993)
Tetsuya Naito vs Kenny Omega (NJPW G1 Climax Semi Finals, August 13th 2016)
Chris Jericho vs Shane Douglas vs 2 Cold Scorpio vs Pitbull #2 (ECW Heat Wave 1996)
LAX vs The Lucha Bros (Full Metal Mayhem Match, Impact Rebellion 2019)
Roddy Piper vs Greg Valentine (Dog Collar Match, NWA Starrcade 1983)
Sabu vs Terry Funk (ECW Born to be Wired, August 9th, 1997)
What are some of yours?
I rewatched Super Bowl XLV tonight and I think this team is slightly better and incredibly similar in terms of role players and their abilities. We had Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, and James Jones at WR, and James Starks and Brandon Jackson at RB, and now we have Davonte Adams, Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Equanimeus St. Brown at WR and Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon at RB. Marcedes Lewis is a much better blocker than Donald Lee, and the running game is a step up as well. Rodgers is playing as well as he ever has, and is way better at reading defenses now. If the starters get healthy during this break, the OL is just as good, possibly even better with Bakhtiari back. The defense is a little different, but equally effective. BJ Raji was great up front and Kenny Clark is able to take 2 OLs and still tackle the runner. Clay Matthews and AJ Hawk were a good pair, but DeβVondre Campbell, Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, and Krys Barnes are all fantastic, a big step up at LB. Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, and Nick Collins had a dozen INTs, but the secondary now is insane with Kevin King, Rasul Douglas, Eric Stokes, Darnell Savage, Adrian Amos, and even Chandon Sullivan having the same 12 INTs with 2 of them going for TDs courtesy of Douglas. Would love to see Douglas get another pick six in this Super Bowl like Collins did in the big game. I keep hearing special teams is terrible this year, but theyβre just as good as 2010, theyβre average, and the only thing anyone can find to complain about. Crosby may have a shorter range now and missed some kicks, but other than that rough Bengals game, he has only not made three FGs. With homefield locked up this season, unlike all the road games required in 2010, this should be a very different path to the Super Bowl. I also donβt expect weβll see MCCarthy and the cowboys get past the first round because theyβll host either the Cardinals who just beat them, or the Rams, and weβll likely see one of them since I expect the Saints to get in that last spot, and I doubt theyβll beat the Rams or Cardinals. Tampa Bay likely beats Philadelphia, and wonβt get past the second round regardless of who they play. The only really tough matchup will be against either the Rams or Cardinals as we already know. It would be great to get a second round matchup against the Saints, which is possible, they did beat Tampa Bay twice. It would be nice to erase that first game of the season, right? Iβm so

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

Philadelphia Eagles (5-7) at the New York Jets (3-8) |
---|
The Eagles short winning streak came to an end screeching halt Sunday as they lost to a struggling Giants team. The Eagles defense held the Giants largely in check most of the day allowing just the Giants to find the endzone just one time and allowing just 13 points in the 13-7 loss. On offense it was a trainwreck, Jalen Hurts continued to look pedestrian in the passing game throwing 3 picks and managing just 129 yards through the air and he didnβt reach 100 yards til late in the 4th quarter. The Giants forced Hurts to beat him with his arm and he failed miserably. Hurts wasnβt the only Jalen playing terribly Sunday, second year WR Jalen Raegor proved two Jalens don't make a right dropping a key pass on 4th down to seal it for the Giants. The Eagles look for redemption traveling back up to MetLife to take on the Jets this week, a team they have never lost to since the two teams started playing. The Jets managed their 3rd win of the season against Houston last week, but Zach Wilson appeared skittish in his return from a knee injury that forced him out of the Jets' past four contests. He threw for 145 yards on 14-of-24 passing and one interception. The rookie signal-caller rarely looked to push the ball downfield, averaging just 4.7 yards of depth per target. A mere 20.8% of Wilsonβs attempts traveled past the first-down marker. I expect the Eagles to look to force Wilson to beat them this coming Sunday and stop the run heavy approach that got them their win vs the Texans. The Eagles defense has been playing well recently and should be able to hold the Jets offense in check. The question will be if the Eagles offense can get anything going against the Jets and if they Jets try the same approach of the Giants of forcing Hurts to beat them with his arm, something he has not been able to do this season. Should be an old fashioned low scoring slugfest with both teams trying to establish the run and keep the pressure off their QBs. Go Birds! |

So I gave myself a reading challenge based off the 50 states: For each state I'll be reading a work by an author born in said state, a poet (all native Americans poets. I couldn't find poets for a few states tho so I instead went with a native american historical nonfiction for the states I couldn't find), a fiction, a nonfiction, a historical Nonfiction, and a young adult novel. So in total I'll be reading 6 books for each state. It took me a good while to find all the books I wanted for each category but I've finally done it!!
