Prediction Series picks and breakdown
Who do you think will win the Grand Slam of Darts? Edit: If you prefer others please write it down on the comment section.
Anyone have any picks for the first day of Grand Slam of Darts tomorrow? Also if you've never tried it betting on darts is electric I would highly recommend
#Full explanation of the Prediction Series can be found here!
3 events left in the 2021 Prediction Series and next up it's a personal favourite of mine, the Grand Slam! The group format is something not seen elsewhere on the PDC circuit and it should provide us with some thrilling games.
At our last event, myself (it's not rigged, honest!) and Jgdarts180 became the World Series Champions scoring 9 points each. It's the closest it has been for a long time at the top of the overall leaderboard now!
Here are the full results from Event 8.
The best possible selection would have scored 10 points:
Jonny Clayton, 4 points
Krzysztof Ratajski, 3 points
Dirk van Duijvenbode/Vincent van der Voort, 1 point
Niels Zonneveld/Mervyn King/Kim Huybrechts, 2 points
Here are the "buckets" that you'll need to select from for Event 9:
One player from Pool A
One player from Pool B
One player from Pool C
One player from Pool D
The draw can be found on the prediction form.
You'll get 0.5 points every time one of your players wins a match in the group stage, and 1 point every time they win in the knockout stage. The two bonus points for a nine dart finish (maximum one per player in the tournament) still apply.
Nine-dart shootouts will not award points, should there be one.
Any players that withdraw from the event (due to COVID-19 or otherwise) will score 0 points. If you've already predicted and one of your picks withdraws, you can change your pick on the form - you can make as many changes as you like up until the event starts. If a player gets a bye as a result of a withdrawal they will not score a point as though it was a match win.
Please come back and comment here to let me know you've predicted so I can make sure it's actually you and someone isn't just using your name!
All predictions will be published in the Discussion Thread as soon as the Grand Slam starts on Saturday 13th November at 1300GMT, which is also the deadline for entries.
**Good luck - and let's see who can become the Grand Slam Champi
... keep reading on reddit β‘Anyone got an angle on this competition? How often is there upsets? Could it be profitable to parley three -200 through -350 range match ups? I expect some of this in the POD thread.
Absolute filth and really should have been 119-ish, just missed three doubles at the end which knocked it down a few points. And a 9 darter missed on D12! Incredible stuff.

Okay so Gerwyn Price wins the Grand Slam of darts vs Gary Anderson.
Its the first name on the Eric Bristow Trophy. Bristow was the king of gamesmanship and mind games so in my opinion its quite fitting for Gerywn to be on the trophy. He would be loving it, that's for sure :)
In my Opinion what Gerwyn did was Gamesmanship. Everyone is entitled to celebrate however in the closing moments of the game i believe they got longer with the intention of slowing Gary down and potentially putting him off, also as we saw towards the end, it got close to Gary too. Gerwyn was playing very well and as we know the crowd being against him really gets him going. In a darting point of view, to come back from behind like he did, was incredible. Nothing to take away from his ability to throw darts. If his way to play better darts is to shout and celebrate, is it wrong? Gary likes a 'throw your darts and take them out' approach. If Gerwyn played like that, he might be playing to Garys strengths. Would he have won?
We have seen big characters celebrating big moments, Kim Huybrechts, Corey Cadby type players really relish in those big moments and can really fire them up. If them firing them selves up is to celebrate boldly and and maybe get the crown involved and be vocal. Should players learn to adapt to these players or enforce some 'Stage Etiquette' ruling.
If you are playing a better player, or know that a player relies on a certain game pace. Would you slow them down? If so does the win feel just as good? Knowing that you had to use something other than your darting ability to beat someone.
Ask and ye shall receive.

I'll keep this stickied at the top until a day or so after the tourney ends. Maybe just transition straight to a Players Championship thread then back to a new online profile thread til the big tourney.
I'll try and keep it updated with the schedule for each day, no promises on that front.
