A list of puns related to "Goldwyn Pictures"
In this post, I will look into Universal Pictures, the studio that promised 17-day windows, but only committed to 20-day windows. Those fucking liars. I will also look into United Artists Releasing/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the studio that relied a lot on Universal and is planning on selling the other half of their soul to Amazon (the first half is currently with Warner Bros). But hey, at least they did better than 20th Century Studios and Paramount this year. Besides that, United Artists is well known for Dr. No, Fiddler on the Roof, Rocky, and Apocalypse Now while Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is well known for The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Casino Royale. More recently, United Artists Releasing/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is well known for Wrath of Man, The Addams Family 2, No Time to Die, and House of Gucci. Universal Pictures is well known for Jaws, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, The Fast and the Furious, and Despicable Me. More recently, Universal Pictures is well known for Nobody, F9, and Halloween Kills.
United Artists Releasing/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (Iβm just going to refer to it as MGM in this section) have decided to partner up with Universal to release their films internationally. In May 2021, Amazon announced that it would acquire MGM.
Universal announced that their films would have a 17-day window or a 30-day window before they hit VOD depending on how well the film does. However, as I looked through these filmsβ theatrical windows, Universal seems to give their films at least 20 days of theatrical exclusivity before it hits VOD. Even though the window they gave is extremely low, Christopher Nolan seems to like the fact that his next film, Oppenheimer, is going to Universal, but with at least a 90-day window. Good on Universal for getting Christopher Nolan on their side. For now, letβs look into how well 2021 worked for both MGM and Universal.
Note: I will include every United Artists Releasing/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film in this editorial, even if Universal didnβt distribute the film internationally.
Nobody - The year for Universal started with Nobody, releasing on March 26, 2021. However, this movie was something alright, despite releasing during the pandemic. Nobody made $57M worldwide on a budget of $16M, being one of the first films to make a profit during the pand

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
James βJimmyβ Stewart was one of Americaβs most beloved actors over the course of decades. He was also a fierce American patriot who was not afraid to make sacrifices for the country he loved so much.
Like so many actors of his generation, James Maitland Stewart, was born in 1908 to parents of modest means. His father ran J.M. Stewart and Company Hardware Store, which he hoped his son would take over one day after graduating from Princeton, which was a family tradition. His mother was a homemaker. Stewartβs father was a deeply religious Presbyterian. Throughout his life, Stewart would be a regular church goer.
Music was a big part of family life in the Stewart home. His mother played piano and his father once accepted an old accordion from a customer who was unable to pay their bill. A local barber instructed young Jimmy in the instrument, and it followed him around for the rest of his life, a frequent off-stage companion on film sets.
As a young boy, Stewart enjoyed mechanical sketching and airplane models. He dreamed of being an aviator. His performance in school was lackluster, because he tended to be more of a creative type and was prone to daydreaming during class.
At his fatherβs insistence, he attended Mercersburg Academy in preparation for his future at Princeton. Stewart competed in track, served as the art editor of the school yearbook, sang in glee club, and was a member of the John Marshall Literary Society. He tried his hand at football, but his lanky frame relegated him to the third team.
During the summer, he went back to his hometown to work as a brick loader and a magicianβs assistant. He never did become an aviator, but his fatherβs dreams of Princeton were realized. Stewart majored in architecture while keeping active in dramatics and the arts on the side. Ultimately, he turned down a scholarship for graduate architecture studies to join the University Players, an intercollegiate summer stock company on Cape Cod.
Though he had previously appeared in The Wolvesas Buquet while he was at Mercersburg Academy, it was here that Stewart got his real start on s

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
In this post, I will look into Warner Bros Pictures, the studio that prematurely gave up on 2021 and pissed off Christopher Nolan to the point where he left Warner Bros for Universal. Besides that, Warner Bros is well known for The Matrix, Harry Potter, and DC films. More recently, Warner Bros is well known for Zack Snyderβs Justice League, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Dune.
To deal with COVID, Warner Bros decided to give Wonder Woman 1984 and every 2021 Warner Bros film a theatrical/HBO Max release. When it was first announced, many people, including me, thought that this would lead to the death of movie theaters. Letβs look into what actually happened. While I usually only look at 2021 films, I will also look into Wonder Woman 1984 as that was the start of the hybrid release.
Wonder Woman 1984 - The hybrid release started with Wonder Woman 1984. It was meant to be the grand start of a new era. Unfortunately, the film was a huge step down from the first Wonder Woman. What couldβve been Warner Brosβ biggest active franchise was destroyed. Financially wasnβt any better. The film only made $167M on a budget of $200M, being a box office bomb. I know COVID happened, but Wikipedia considers the film as one of the biggest box office bombs ever, so I donβt think I should let this film slide either. Under normal circumstances, I think the film wouldβve only made $400M worldwide, barely breaking even. It wouldβve opened higher than the first one on opening weekend, but the reception wouldβve destroyed it in the following weeks.
The Little Things - The year for Warner Bros started off small with The Little Things. The film received mixed reviews and made $30M on a budget of $30M, failing to double its budget. Under normal circumstances, I think the film wouldβve only made $60M worldwide, barely breaking even. Iβm shocked that The Little Things did better than John Lee Hancockβs other film, The Founder.
Judas and the Black Messiah - Third timeβs the charm in this case when Judas and the Black Messiah came out. And by that I mean critically. It received acclaim, but wasnβt able to use that to help the box office numbers. The film only made $7M on a budget of $26M. Under normal circumstances, I think the film wouldβve only made $15M worldwide. Regardless, I doubt that this film wouldβve made its money back.
Tom & Jerry - Warner Bros decided to release Tom & Jerry in late February, just two days before the deadlin
... keep reading on reddit β‘Currently, the market share of 2021 looks like this:
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (not including 20th Century Studios): $899M - 24% of the market share
Warner Bros Pictures - $614M - 17% of the market share
Universal Pictures - $577M - 16% of the market share
Sony/Columbia Pictures - $471M - 13% of the market share
United Artists Releasing/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer - $310M - 8% of the market share
Paramount Pictures - $277M - 7% of the market share
20th Century Studios - $166M - 4% of the market share
Could Sony beat Disney without 20th Century Studios? Could Sony beat Disney even with 20th Century Studios? I'm also talking about how much Spider-Man: No Way Home could make from December 16,2021-December 31,2021, excluding the money it makes in 2022.
#Friday Drops
Hey everyone! My βA Look Intoβ editorials are back. While I will analyze the lineups of all the major film studios later, I do want to take a look at how 2021 was to cinema.
2020 started off normal. Bad Boys for Life and Sonic the Hedgehog stood out as the biggest successes of the first two months of 2020. Fortunately for both of those films, they are now considered as some of the highest grossing films of 2020 and the highest grossing American films of 2020. Unfortunately for everyone else, the pandemic happened. Most movie theaters shut down and almost all major blockbusters got delayed. Tenet tried to be the film to bring people back to the movies. Some people did come back for Tenet, but nothing more. 2020 was looking bleak for movie theaters with ideas that movie theaters are dead and that future movies have to be released on streaming. Goodness, that sounds awful.
2021 started off as bleak as April 2020 was for movie theaters. Nothing much was released around this time. However, March 2021 came with a surprise and Godzilla vs. Kong released on March 31, 2021. The film would later be credited for bringing confidence back into releasing films into movie theaters again. Cruella and A Quiet Place Part II released on May 28, 2021. The two films were the start of the return of weekly film releases from major film studios. F9 and Black Widow were the biggest films of that summer with F9 currently being the highest grossing American film of 2021. However, during August 2021, there were concerns of the Delta variant possibly shutting down movie theaters again for the Fall season and things even slowing down in September. Fortunately, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was successful enough for that to not be necessary and the rest is history.
Knowing What We Know Now, What Shouldβve Happened?
In terms of 20th Century Studios/Disney films, The New Mutants, The Empty Man, and Mulan still wouldnβt have done well in 2021. Disney pretty much dodged a bullet with Artemis Fowl and dumped it on Disney+ instead of having to face the embarrassment of a box office bomb and possibly a larger presence of negativity from the filmβs lacking quality. It sucks that Soul got dumped onto Disney+. I get that Disney already has four animated films coming out in 2021 (including 20th Century Studiosβ Ronβs Gone Wrong), but still. If I were Disney, I wouldβve given Soul a theatrical/Disney+ hybrid release and have it come out February 5
