A list of puns related to "Glu Mobile"
Glu Mobile used to be a hell of a big mobile game company back in the 2010s, before the entire mobile game market when to s###. Unfortunately they were infamous for cutting support and pretty much abandoning every new IP release after 2 years, and every sequel after a single year of release.
Cutting updates at first, then availability. Most of their repertoire is from 2010-2015, and everything onwards are just cashgrab deals with Disney, and now being an EA sellout.
Unfortunately for us diehard veteran Glu fans, most of these games either don't work on new devices anymore or just borderline aren't available. I was wondering if someone had an archive of Glu games for iOS, as a lot of websites either lead you to the game's (now removed) App Store page, or the IPA file has been deleted off of the website.
I just ordered an iPhone 4S for old games a few days ago and only noticed today that some games are missing, most importantly Samurai VS Zombies Defense 1 and 2.
(But why order an iPhone? Well, Glu had the genius idea of having most of their Android games require an SD Card data download from an external server, most of wich have been shut down yeaaaars ago, some games even depended on these data servers to even INSTALL said data, meanwhile iOS always had the full game size, able to download from the App Store, or able to install from an ".ipa" file)
(What's even more annoying, is that on Android, these games had a "cross-currency" system, where the in-game paid currency number was shared between multiple games, this was handled partly by servers, and with those gone, this system now corrupts save files, rendering the games LITERALLY unlaunchable/unplayable on Android (deleting the app doesn't help either, the system is completely F###ed) meanwhile iOS didn't have this problem because it used GameCenter, wich is still around till this day)

My commentary:
Glu is mobile games developer best known for, as they put it, games enjoyed by female gamers. Their main franchises include Diner Dash Adventures, Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Design Home. Although they also develop sport games that would compliment EA's portfolio well. Their sport games include Tap Sports Baseball, Deer Hunter and others. They also develop licensed games like WWE Universe and Disney Sorcererβs Arena.
We all know EA so I wont bother. However, important to know that recently EA is having some hard time. They lost Star Wars franchise exclusivity, their loot boxes are facing regulatory pressure in Europe and their first party IPs are recently failing. EAs biggest revenue driver is EA Sports live s

Android Police: EA tests the limits of good taste, purchases Glu Mobile for $2.1 billion. https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/04/29/electronic-arts-wants-to-buy-glu-mobile-and-its-kardashian-game-for-2-1-billion/
I thought this is kinda interesting.
Now I'm not saying EA are going to resurrect GameSpy and BF2 etc. But, assuming there hasn't been any IP sales of GameSpy stuff by Glu over the last several years, then in theory EA is about to own everything they would need to spin up the BF2 online service and sell the game through origin, GOG, steam, etc. Not to mention their other classic (BF) games affected by the GameSpy shutdown.
Unlikely? Yes, But then again GOG and Disney teamed up to resurrect Battlefront 2 and its multiplayer in 2017, 3 years after the shutdown. And GOG are known for "officially" reviving beloved classic games...

Hey noob here looking for some help understanding this GLU situation. So EA is buyjng GLU and what i read said they will pay GLU shareholders $12.50 cash. So my question is will the GLU ticker cease to exist? If i want to buy GLU should i just buy EA? I was considering buying some shares of GLU this morning but im a lil hesitant now. Thanks in advance for any advice!
So Iβm just learning about options. GLUU being acquired by EA and the stock price is valued at 12.50 per share I believe. The price is only fluctuating a few cents in either direction. Could you use an iron butterfly strategy on this knowing it should remain consistent until something changes with the acquisition? Iβm assuming if everyone realizes this then it would just be unlikely that your orders would be filled to buy/sell the appropriate options to pull this off?
Again i was just reading up on different strategies and the idea came to mind. Iβm sure itβs flawed in some way π
I remember playing a mobile game back in the days on my ipod touch, it was an action game with a top down view about a guy I think he used to wear a cowboy hat killing monsters with his guns. The game took place in the night only and there were lots of burning fuel cans that provided illumination.
It belonged to GLU games inventory. Have searched for it long and have not been able to find it anywhere. Would love to have a go at it if its still available.
EA is set to buy GLU Mobile for 2.1-2.4 Billion dollars, but what does that mean for us gamers, exactly? I have invested stock as a retail trader with GLUU (ticker symbol) as well as a design/marketing background by trade and I give you my thoughts in the video!
Electronic Arts Inc. (EA),Β a global leader in interactive entertainment has announced the acquisition of a leading global developer and publisher of mobile games Glu Mobile in a deal worth $2.4 billion. The deal is aimed at EA expanding their mobile games influence, a place where EA has found fickle results. Glu Mobile was founded in 2001 as Cyent studios. They then renamed themselves to Sorrent later that year, and finally went public in 2007. After that, Tencent became their largest shareholder with a 15% stake which was purchased in 2015. This is the largest move since that purchase by Tencent 6 years ago. Read more about this news here.

I have 12 shares of GLUU for my first ever investment and EA just bought Glu Mobile. At the time of writing this, Iβm up $45 dollars on my investment from my initial $105.
βRedwood City, Calif.-based EA will pay $12.50 in cash for each share of Glu stock. The deal represents a 36% premium to Glu's closing share price on Feb. 5.
In after-hours trading on the stock market today, EA stock rose 1%, near 143.85. During the regular session Monday, EA stock climbed 0.9% to 142.46.
Meanwhile, GLUU stock soared 33%, near 12.50, in late trading. Earlier in the after-hours session, it jumped as high as 13.53...β
With this in mind, should I sell right now and my $45 profit? Or should I wait to see if it keeps going up? Iβm not entirely sure what to make of this news. Again, this is my first investment and Iβm not sure what decision I should I make.
