A list of puns related to "Glacier Related"
Hi Reddit! I am Chris Borstad, Associate Professor of Snow and Ice Physics at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Located at 78 degrees north, UNIS (www.unis.no) is the northernmost institution of higher education and research in the world. I am fascinated by snow and ice, and my research relates to processes that cause ice and snow to fracture. Most recently I have been studying the Larsen C ice shelf in Antarctica, where a massive crack in the ice is about to release an iceberg the size of Delaware! By improving our understanding of what caused this event and what the consequences are for the ice shelf, we hope to make better predictions of how other ice shelves around Antarctica will respond to a changing climate. I also study the physics of snow avalanches, a research interest that originated with a desire not to get caught in an avalanche myself while skiing in the backcountry. The most destructive types of avalanches occur after a large volume of snow is undercut by fractures. I am working to better understand these fascinating natural phenomena so that we can hopefully keep people out of harmβs way.

I was Expedition Leader aboard M/S Fram during her maiden season in Antarctica in 07/08 running 10-day Antarctic Peninsula voyages from Ushuaia, Argentina (with one to Falklands/South Georgia). I had proposed a landing at Brown Bluff in the Antarctic Sound but the weather picked up as the team came ashore. So we packed up and headed back to the vessel. M/S Fram has twin Azipod thrusters as stern propulsion. They're pretty fantastic actually. This means though that the main engine does not turn any shafts but instead acts as a large electrical generator for the Azipods. I got my weather gear off on the tender deck and headed to the bridge and as I did, the engine cut out and the whole ship went dark. This is technically impossible but Murphy's Law and all. Without power, the ship was blown sideways down the beach towards the seaward wall of the floating glacier. I walked on the bridge and hell was breaking loose. The Captain, one of the finest I've worked with, dropped an anchor in desperation but it didn't take and the ship slammed broadside into the glacier. We had a giant rock just off the stern and about five metres of water under the keel. I was on there on the bridge on VHF calling mayday as that bump happens. There was surprisingly little damage but we did destroy the starboard lifeboat. The wind held us there for about six minutes until the engine room re-started. Pulling away was pretty effortless considering the maneuverability of Fram. She goes sideways as well she goes forward. Those Norwegian coastal guys sure make great ships (grounding aside). They fixed the problem in Ushuaia. It was a factory fuck up. Getting to Ushuaia was another story. I had 200 justifiably scared pax, an engine that cut out without notice, and no starboard lifeboat. Whole 'nother story indeed. Anyway, hope you like.
I'm imagining fjords and valleys and sharp pyamidal mountain peaks and braided streams. Glaciers and glacial lanforms are so beautiful on earth. What would it be like on Titan, if at all?
#What is the Texas Sharpahooter fallacy?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_sharpshooter_fallacy
> The Texas sharpshooter fallacy is an informal fallacy which is committed when differences in data are ignored, but similarities are overemphasized. From this reasoning, a false conclusion is inferred.
> The name comes from a joke about a Texan who fires some gunshots at the side of a barn, then paints a target centered on the tightest cluster of hits and claims to be a sharpshooter.
#What does this have to do with GME?
Humans have a nasty tendency of only remembering when their bias is confirmed and not when it is denied.
While it's absolutely likely Ryan Cohen and DFV were/are tweeting cryptic messages either to be cheeky or to directly communicate with us, it's a different matter to determine we're accurately interpreting them.
#Example - ice cream
The ice cream cone tweet is a perfect example. It has a frog emoji. It features an image of a McDonald's ice cream cone. It was posted the day the CFO was fired. The image is featured on an article about tracking broken McDonald's ice cream machines.
So what does it mean? Does it refer to how Chewy's first board meeting was Ryan taking the board to have ice cream at McDonald's? Does it refer to the "ice cream machine" finally being fixed when the CFO was kicked out? What does the frog mean? Wait is he talking about the MACD crossing over? If he's referring to the board meeting with Chewy, is he hinting he's gonna be made chairman of the board?
As you can see, speculation can run wild here, and when one hit is found next to another, the bullseye starts being drawn around them.
Notice how we can weave a full narrative around both the CFO and the chairman appointment. We have no way of knowing if either is right. We must be careful of avoiding the sharpshooter fallacy in everything we do.
You can draw a bullseye around any cluster of hits from interpretations of the tweet and point at it as having cracked it.
Heck, they could both be right. Or it could be something else. Surely the frog ties into it somehow?
#What do?

I searched top posts today and didnβt see a single one about the LEGENDARY AMA that occurred today. Maybe it was all of the Glacier posts, maybe it was too many crayons. Either way, you need to go watch it.
Wes Christian, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to provide us with information about synthetic shares, failures, the importance of cash accounts, rehypothecations and so much more. Not only that, but directly relating it to this situation and giving credit to the contributions r/Superstonk is making to shed light on it.

Iβve seen you go from a skeptic, to shareholder, to being active in AMAs while remaining level headed and strong in your convictions. Its fucking amazing and youβre a legend.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a financial advisor. I'm just a smooth brained ape going about my day and trying to make sense of this whole saga.
This is also my first DD. Totally open to criticism on this. I don't have all of the pieces figured out myself, but hoped the community could help.
TL;DR - Burry's recent TSLA puts are a huge amount of his portfolio (EDIT: if PUTs were extrapolated with current share price it would be ~40% of the total portfolio assets, but we don't know the details like the strike price). I theorize it's a signal to of where to look next in understanding what's going to happen, TSLA. I think this must have something to do with that our favorite players may be trying to possibly distribute their short interest across other players (Glacier, Sessa Capital). Someone else may be able to make more sense of the move than me.
I took a look at what other entities of interest had recently disclosed any changes in TSLA positions. Lo and behold, Suspecthanna (Susquehanna) Securities just went ALL IN on TSLA, reported on 2/10/21 right after the first squeeze. We're talking ~47% of Suquehanna Securities LLP. That makes Suspecthanna the second biggest shareholder behind Musk himself.
I also noted a few other potentially connected data points that were interesting. Sessa Capital just opened a large short position on GME and on TSLA as well. This was reported in their 13F.
Sessa Capital reported holdings
So Sessa Capital:
I'm not sure if anyone can get the portfolio of Glacier, but I'd be willing to bet it's pretty similar to Sessa.
Okay, so it's the financial world. Everyone's probably connected at some point. The question is how many degrees of separation.

The last Episode of my Theoretical DD (Dick Dick)
If you don't know what this theoretical bs is, check my DD link above or this one.
What is it?
The idea is that there's a magical floating line that Hegges are trying to keep us under to avoid getting margin called.
Supposedly this line drops by -$4.80 everyday meaning that for every day that passes, they're bleeding money.
Why $4.80? Just because we need an average number that indicates how much they've been bleeding everyday since Jan to keep these shorts open in terms of short interest, extra short attacks, High Frequency Trading costs, "bailouts" like Melvin and maybe others, buying out positions from dying HF's etc etc etc etc. tldr: It's a money bleed factor.
Here it is visualized.
The blue line is the line they apparently like to keep the price under (theoretical).
They seem to be disgusted so much by this theoretical ceiling that the price immediately recoils the moment it goes anywhere near it. Ideally they want to keep the price of GME under this ceiling to avoid a margin call and possibly them failing to meet that margin call.
Since the last 2

Recently read this letter published April 15 by the VP of one of the biggest media companies in BC.
Wanted to share it; it highlights a ton of the issues revolving around health data and reporting:
An Open Letter to Premier John Horgan, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry:
In my capacity as vice-president, editorial, of Glacier Media, I am writing to express grave concern about the provincial governmentβs information policies and practices during the COVID-19 pandemic and their impact on the publicβs right to know.
We are now in the second year of this battle to suppress the coronavirus. As media we take seriously our integral role in safekeeping the public from harmβs way. We have devoted enormous resources in this last year under difficult physical and economic circumstances to proudly perform our duties.
But a pattern of behaviour has emerged within this provincial government that fails to provide timely, accurate, detailed and frank information about the pandemic. This is deeply worrisome for the public we serve and you serve.
This strict and often harmful control of information has contributed to an increased public mistrust in the handling of the pandemic. We hear of this each day in our work-from-home newsrooms, and in many cases the public frustration is directed at us for not telling the full story, for defending authorities, even for being your puppets.
It is time for you to fix this problem promptly.
Data on the coronavirus in some provinces is provided by city block. In ours, it is provided generally by health authority region and only in a few cases by municipality or districts within them.
Information on occupational infection, critical in understanding the health of our provinceβs frontline workers, is not disclosed.
Age-related data on infections, essential in understanding the trajectory of the coronavirus, arrives many days late and is often at odds with earlier caseload data.
School exposures, some of the most critical data in mitigating community risk and managing community concerns, are not released for several days until contact tracing is conducted.
The R-value data, the crucial information on how many people on average are infected by individuals with COVID-19, is distorted by the exclusion of outbreaks and released only once a month.
Beyond those insufficiencies is a profound

I've seen the suggestion of shorting or buying puts on RH's new IPO being seriously mentioned quite a few times recently. What was a joke in February, seems to be turning into a shill tactic in May.
I'm not going to tell you what to do with your money, but personally I'm not getting off the rocket to mess with anything RH related. While I agree it will probably fall off a cliff quite quickly, I expect it to also be used as a bear trap for a short time to snare vengeful apes.
I certainly don't want to be margin called if an RH options contract skyrockets in the wrong direction. All that will happen is my GME will get force liquidated to pay for it and leave me with nothing at all and no moon tickets.
If you really want to short something, short the hedgies by buying more GME

Greetings once again, Commanders, and welcome to the newest edition of the META reports. Here was the previous one.
It is broken down into the following chapters:
--------------------------------------------------------
META Synopsis
The Shell and Demeter remain in the top 2 spots, with top clans using alternating Shell / Demeter combos in beacon games to cap and hold beacons. Even with the nerf, Sonics weapons are still a powerful threat and continue to make Ravana and Scorpion viable options in all game modes, but both bots dropped slightly in the ranking. The Hawk moved back up to the 3rd spot likely due to the announced nerf not happening in 7.0 and the introduction of the Sharanga titan. Many Top Tier clans and players have 2-3 Shells in their hangars, along with 1-2 Demeters, and 1 Hawk. The Orochi made it into the Top 10, serving as a good beacon runner and ambusher. Fenrirs are the established tanks thanks to the Bernadette Legendary Pilot, and Demeter continues to be the META support bot.
The new flame rockets rose in ranking and use, but are not a suitable replacement for close-range engagement.
For titans, Nodens remains in the top spot since it is the best support unit in the game capable of turning even mid level titans into unstoppable forces. The new titan Sharanga is very situational. It has unmatched firepower but without proper support from squad mates (i.e. Nodens and / or Demeter) the Sharanga is extremely vulnerable.
For weapons, sonics continues to be the META, along with flame and cryo.
For drones and drone chips, the Nebula and Glider are the best drones, with in trouble series being the best in its respective class.
For Legendary Pilots it somewhat reflects the META. Shell (Linda Cano), Fenrir (Bernadette Wolfe), Kyle Rogers (Hawk), and Ash Skarsgard (Scorpio

Verbier is no stranger to extreme riding. Perhaps best known for its freeride cult and Bec des Rosses, Verbier also has quite an extreme surprise up its sleeve for the people who like to play it safe and want to ride pistes only.
The Mother of All Blacks, also known as "La noire du Mt Fort" or "North Face of Mt Fort". In it's usual, moguled and iced-over state, it bears about as much similarity to your average black does to your average blue.
Unlike what it seems, it's not a beaten-up freeride zone entry, but a \"piste\".
Fifth steepest piste in the Alps at 37 degrees, unlike other entrants, it is never groomed and almost always iced over. If you fall, there is no arresting yourself. You are going down all the way, bouncing off the iced-over moguls while gaining speed until you stop a couple hundred meters below.
The moguls are not your friend even if you stay on your skis. Sharpened by the skiers who attempted to pass there before you, the don't have flat spaces between them and are more akin to fins pointing downslope. There is no snow in the beginning - the little there was turned into ice or was blown away. There is a sharp transition between the end of one bump and start of another. You can't really get an edge there, nor do you want to have your ski facing downslope at that angle here. You can't really rely on the downhill part of the mogul - they are vertical. You can't shave them with your edges to loose speed. As a matter of fact, side-slipping is not an option, because once you go off the top of one, you are dropping a meter or two before landing on the spine of the next one. Planting the poles downslope to help yourself to rotate faster is out of question as well - you just won't reach.
You've been scoffing at "Warning experts only" signs you've encountered on other blacks and "randonnΓ©es balisΓ©es" for years. You freerode some steep and gnarly things. Forest runs in steep terrain are fun to you. Mogul runs aren't hard - the question is only at which speed you go through them and how much air time you are trying to get out of them. Last week you did a full send on other "steepest in Alps" slope in Switzerland - ChuenisbΓ€rgli -

What if there are other companies just like Glacier Capital are funded/associated with Citadel enterprises who have recently taken out short positions. Is it possible for Citadel to move their positions that will be subject to margin call to another company?
There has been discussion of such movement in dark pool trading, large blocks transfered between institutions then sold on retail markets, albeit unconfirmed. But now we have "DARK POOL" trades on Stonk-O-Tracker.
Considering the new SEC rulings potentially taking effect, the companies holding the positions would be subject to liquidation and then the "insurance fund" would cover remaining funds. NOT other DTCC members. Do these laws potentially protect parent organizations, like Glacier Capital to Citadel, or Melvin to Citadel? Similar to shell companies within an organization that can go bankrupt without damaging the said organization. Ex. Mercy Hospital in Chicago bankruptcy but Trinity Health (Mercy is Owned by Trinity) disclosed a multi billion profit in same year.
I'll edit with replies. Thanks
Edit: I hold an MBA, emphasis leadership, so I understand most lingo and jargon. Please, no worries if you get technical.
Edit 2: thanks for the replies guys and gals. Working theory is that since Citadel created the shells they would be responsible for the margin calls related them. Which is different than a traditional corporate organization with multiple businesses inside that organization.

Mondstadt was an extremely cold piece of land.
When we craft weapons, we require Northland prototypes. As you can tell by the name, Mondstadt is on the northern end of Teyvat.
God of Storms Decarabian created a wall of wind so that he can shelter his people within a relatively warmer climate, and this city is what we know as Old Mondstadt (currently Stormterror's Lair). Decarabian and the Wolf King Andrius constantly were in territorial disputes with each other.

So I'm going to go off of an educated guess here based on what we saw in the reveal trailer and by some leaks that a lot of us blew off as bullshit.
The new Titan aspect will be Diamond Lance since we see a Titan throwing a "Stasis Spear" in the reveal trailer... Yay, more potentially busted Titan abilities...
The new Warlock aspect will be Glacial Harvest since Warlocks don't yet have a Stasis aspect that can create Stasis shards.
And the new Hunter aspect will be Touch Of Winter since we can see a Hunter using an improved Glacier Grenade in the trailer on one of the Vex Minotaurs.
But remember that 4chan leak that came out talking about how the Vex are now using Stasis? Well just look at the icons for all of the new aspects. Diamond Lance looks like it has a Vex Wyvern warp lance encased in Stasis. Glacial Harvest shows a Vex Harpy encased in Stasis. And Touch Of Winter shows a Vex Hobgoblin head encased in Stasis. This could all just be insignificant and just showing that it relates to the current Vex based season but it is interesting to speculate nonetheless.
Spoilers Below! You've been warned. Also, all reviews are subjective. My opinions are my own.
I had trouble with this book. On one hand, I can respect the clean prose and fun narrative. On the other hand, I'm not the target audience for this book. Before you read this review, just be clear that this review is made by someone who wasn't the intended audience and consequently this review might be more critical than it deserves.

READER'S EMOTIONAL RESPONSE
My emotional reaction was pretty 'meh.' I liked the first half of the book better than the second half. The first half was a slow exploration of an interesting setting. The second half was a fast paced adventure which didn't really interest me because I wasn't invested in the characters.
Did I have fun reading this? Yes, I had some fun. This book is a popcorn book (a book you read more for fun than intellectual engagement). But honestly I didn't find it to be that fun.
I read books for characters, and this book's characters weren't engaging.
Overall, I give the story's Emotional Resonance: (C-)
CONCEPT AND EXECUTION
I just finished this book, and I have trouble putting words to it's concept.
The first half of the book is a meanderingly plotted adventure of a boy doing random things for the self-motivated goal of increasing a 'power level.' That early adventure culminates with him fighting a space wizard god angel, a twist which came out of nowhere. The second half was the boy going on another random adventure, but this one had more of a linear thread to it, making it easier to follow.
But concept doesn't really matter; execution does. This book's execution was... not great. I'll talk more on this in later sections.
Overall, I give the story's Concept and Execution a rating of: (C-)
CHARACTERS AND CHARACTERIZATION:
I didn't connect to the protagonist Lindon. In the past I would have thought that my failure to connect was a fault in the book, but after reading this twitter thread I've come to realize that perhaps the reason why I didn't like the protagonist is my fault, and not the book's.
