A list of puns related to "Gideon Rose"
Hi Reddit,
I'm the editor of the leading magazine (and website!) about foreign policy and global affairs. I have a BA in Classics from Yale and a PhD in Government from Harvard, was a peon on the NSC staff during the Clinton administration, worked as a thinktank fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and have been at Foreign Affairs since 2000, first as managing editor and then as editor. Happy to talk about anything you want.

I feel like i'm always seeing nonstop constant hate and criticism for the later seasons of the show, specifically seasons 5 through 8. I hardly ever see any Charmed fans talk about what they appreciate and love about the later seasons, instead its always just complaints. So I wanted to make this post for those fans who like the later seasons to quickly share what they love about them.
With me starting - I absolutely love Paige. So seeing her role on the show was always something I loved. Rose McGowan truly was a gift. Personally I love how mystical and magical season 5 was. I love the choice they made to dive deeper into the magical community and lore (Gypsies, Leprechauns, Nymphs, Fairytales...etc.)
I absolutely love the tone of season 6. I love Chris' addition to the cast and I love the emphasis on trust and betrayal in this season specifically with the girls inner circle. The main 4's mixed uncertainty with Chris up till his reveal was something that was incredible to watch. I feel like Gideons betrayal in the end of the season was great.
Season 7's focus on Leo losing his way is something I loved too. The trauma over losing his son is perfectly represented by Brain Krause. The Avatars re-introduction from season 5 was a great idea too = Giving the sisters that perfect life they've always wanted only to realize that it isn't possible without consequences.
Season 8 and the introduction of billie. I absolutely loved the idea of the girls taking on a beginner witch and showing her the ropes. Billie's attitude and hubris fit well alongside them and it didn't feel like she was a sore thumb.
I'm a fan of huge, slow burn, epic fantasy series and it's most of what I read, but I've had a hard time finding both the deep magic system and world building and character writing across a huge book series, and a romance subplot that doesn't suck.
A couple big series I've tried and loved recently are:
Not epic fantasy with romances I loved:
Also I bounced off the characters in ASOIAF and Malazan and am unlikely to try either again. I was not a fan of the writing style in A Court of Thorns and Roses or Gideon the Ninth.
Trip report: December 14-22 (family of 4 on our 4th trip as a family)
.
Tuesday, Dec 14 -
Land at MCO around 1PM with hotel check-in supposedly after 4PM. Took UberXL to Swan Reserve to drop off bags until we can check in, but the room is already ready so we check in early.
Relax in room for a few minutes and enjoy the amazing views of Epcot and HS before taking a quick tour of the hotel. The pool is nice, but small... luckily we have access to all Swan & Dolphin amenities, including the beautiful Grotto Pool.
At around 3pm, we called for an uber to Disney Springs. The hotel has free bus transportation to all parks and Disney Springs, but we didn't feel like waiting for the bus.
Our dinner reservation at Raglan Road isn't until 8PM, so we do a little shopping and check out the Christmas trees. Love the Haunted Mansion, Coco and Nightmare before Christmas trees. During this time we also added our name to the Gideon's virtual queue which was at a 2 hour wait.
Raglan Road has been a family tradition that we do every trip, but this will probably be our last time there for a while. The food wasn't great and you could barely move because there were so many people in the restaurant.
After dinner, we got in line for Gideon's. Maybe 15 minutes later we were inside. Definitely worth the wait. The cookies are huge and delicious.
Couldn't find the bus back to Swan Reserve, so we took the Disney bus to Yacht Club and walked from there. Less than 10 minutes later, we were in our room in time to watch the Epcot fireworks from our window. Absolutely beautiful view.
.
Wednesday, Dec 15 -
Magic Kingdom day.
Decided not to get Genie+, because we have Very Merriest tickets for the 16th and will be able to make use if the shorter lines.
Took bus from hotel (waited about 15 minutes). Bus takes you to TTC, so we got on a boat to the park.
After walking through the shops on main street, we headed into Adventure Land. Went to Tiki Room first, because I hadn't seen it since I was a teenager (a very long time ago) and the rest of the family had never seen it. Its still a cute show, even though my teen daughter thought it was boring.
The wait for Jingle Cruise was close to 2 hours, so we moved on to POTC (just a 25 minute wait), then back to Casey's Corner for lunch. We actually wanted Sleepy Hollow, but the line was insanely long. It worked out great because the kids were very happy with the Casey's hot dogs.
Haunted Mansion was only a 25 minute w

For starters, the Pykeβs are revealed to have a hand in EVERYTHING.
They are able to operate with immunity through various changes in galactic leadership. Including under JEDI and NEW REPUBLIC rule. Unlike the warring military factions, the Pykeβs only get stronger. And unlike Palpatine, theyβve avoided being discovered.
Between Solo and the Clone Wars episodes we can infer that the Pykeβs were in league with the Empire/Republic the entire time. They even were involved with some of the Empire/Sithβs most secret projects, including the Kaminoan cloning project and even killing master Sifo Diyas. Yoda even made the mistake of helping cover up this corruption. The finale of The Bad Batch depicts this same dynamicβ¦ A ruthless entity that betrays Kamino after working with them. The same ruthless entity that discarded the Galactic Empire after itβs usefulness faded. The same ruthless entity that made an agreement with Boba and massacred his tribe.
So it makes sense that by Book of Boba Fett, the Pykeβs are at the height of their power. The Hutts immediately slink away when the most powerful faction in the galaxy arrives: A faction that has massively profited off of destabilizing governments.
The Book of Boba Fett isnβt about a turf war. Itβs a story of Bobaβs redemption, learning who his true enemy is. The Tusken flashbacks show how he learned to rethink his friends and enemies. When he sees the swoop gang spray painting the moisture farm, to Boba it signifies a failure of the Empire he once worked for, and the need for rule by respect.
I predict we will learn that the Pykeβs were the driving force behind Mandoβs GROGU CLONING ARC. Also that they are the reason the FIRST ORDER rose so quickly. Also why MOFF GIDEON and THRAWN are able to to fund years of military deployment without the support of a Galactic Government. And they are possibly even the engineers of the TALKING PALPATINE HUSK from TRoS, concretely explaining how he SOMEHOW returned. The Pykeβs played both sides in every war, and I believe they will be stronger than ever after the Battle for Exegol. They drew out the ENTIRE KNOWN GALAXY to fight each other!!! Plagieus probably is cashing Pyke checks on Muunilist somewhere lol...
I predict Boba will expose the shadow cabal for future generations to investigate. The same shadow cabal Benecio Del Toro hinted at in The Last Jedi. I just hope that by the next sequel era tril

I should actually be able to make it up to 74 as I am more than midway through Dune Messiah (Frank Herbert) and Moving Pictures (Terry Pratchett), but since I do not see either of those two books cracking into my top 10, I figured I could start writing about the best books I have read this year and share with you all 10 mini reviews of the 10 best books I have read in 2021, because like so many others, I just need to talk about it! I would love to read your thoughts on what I read this year.
Most of them are fantasy, although two out of the ten would probably be better described as sci-fi but with enough fantasy elements to them that I figure they can count as is. I will try to keep my reviews as spoiler free as possible and will mark any spoilers with the proper tags.
First, a few honorable mentions that just missed the cut for me but I still found to be fantastic reads that I cannot recommend enough: 11/22/63 by Stephen King, The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter, Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett, Tiamat's Wrath by James A Corey, Watchmen by Allan Moore and Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence. In a few of those cases, you will find other books from the same series listed bellow. So with that being said, let's begin!
10. NEMESIS GAMES (The Expense #5) by James A Corey
I read Leviathan Wakes, the first book of the series, at the end of last year and upon finding out that the conclusion Leviathan Fall was due for the spring of 2021, I have spent most of the year pacing myself and reading about one book every month to be caught up for the release of the finale. This series isn't what I would call ground breaking. It doesn't reinvent the wheel and plays on a trope that has been well established, that of humanity tearing itself apart while a bigger world-ending threat is looming in the background, but it does what it does extremely well. The characters are interesting and fun to follow and all of the books are at the very least firmly planted in the "entertaining as hell" category for me. Nemesis Games is the middle book in this 9-books series and is, to my taste at least, the very best one. This book follows the crew of the Rocinante as they are split apart for significant amount of time for the first time in the series, which gives some of Jim Holden's friends

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Since I started on the third tape itβs been hard to tell if Iβm awake or still asleep. Iβve even cracked and had a drink to calm my nerves. Havenβt done that in over a year, well, not since my Father passed. He was a whisky man, which must of skipped a generation since vodkas been at my bedside all week. Youβd never see him without a cuban in one hand, puffing away like some kind of aging locomotive, and a Rob Roy scotch in the other. Doctors kept telling him, year after year, that his vices would kill him one day. My father died at 91 with a smoke in his mouth and a bottle in his fist. No cancer, no stroke, no Alzheimerβs disease. Said it was just his time.
That geriatric curmudgeon is probably laughing at us all right now, God rest his soul.
If only he wouldβve shared the importance of these tapes with me before he left. Instead he left this damn box here, this old fetid crate of cassettes which have been driving me crazy.
Well, letβs hope not. Since Iβve definitely been feeling close to it.
Each dream I dream starts out the same. The trees, the field, the sense of being watched by a thousand invisible eyes. Each time, every time, I hear my Fathers voice, clear as the day he died, saying the phrase, Appease her.
Unnerving, sure, but the last few nights have been a bit different.
There is a smell. An awful, terrible stink, one so pungent and putrid it makes my vodka soaked morning breathe smell like a bed of roses in comparison. You know how people sometimes have ultra vivid dreams, where the sensations are so real itβs hard to even realize theyβre dreaming? Well, imagine that, but with every sensation being wicked and disgusting and cruel. What started as a scent of pine and earth, starts to erode into a stench of rotting flesh and animal dung.
And thatβs not all. Near the end of my dream, if weβre still calling it that, there comes another voice.
Not my Fathers. Definitely not.
In a sickly, yet somehow comforting tone, there comes a woman's voice. She sounds old and tired, like someones grandmother would, but once the recollection of her words hit me, all sense of fragility and feebleness leave her.
It feeds, it grows,
Fingers, hands, feet, and toes.
After

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
