Written work for the movie BLOW - George Jung

Hey I'm brand new here so I hope I'm doing this right.

  1. Who Am I? - I'm George Jung. A major American drug trafficker that worked with the Colombian Medellin Cartel (Pablo Escobar) in the 70's. I grew up in a normal American family in Massachusetts. Growing up I was active in sports, but didn't do well in school. Once I reached college I realized that I didn't want to just go through the motions of life and be like everyone else there. I wanted something different. I moved out west to California where I found the hippie culture. I had never experienced anything like it. I was quickly introduced to selling marijuana locally, which started my passion for drug trafficking.
  2. Who Am I Talking To? - I'm talking to the judge that's about to decide my bail, after being caught with a large amount of marijuana that I was trying to distribute. I was cocky and charismatic, but that doesn't always work well in the court room.
  3. Where Am I? - I'm in the courtroom.
  4. What do I want? - I want to explain how the system is stupid, and I shouldn't get prison time for selling something that our government decided was "bad".
  5. What happened before this scene? - I was caught trying to sell drugs to an undercover officer.

MONOLOGUE:

George: Your honor, I'd like to say a few words to the court.

Judge: By all means

George: In all honesty, I don't feel like what I've done is a crime and I think it's illogical and irresponsible for you to sentence me to prison. None of the real criminals of the world ever end up behind bars. I mean, when you think about it, what did I really do? Cross an imaginary line with a bunch of plants? You say that I'm an outlaw, you say that I'm a thief, but where's the Christmas dinner for the people on relief?

DIALOGUE:

George: Your honor, I'd like to say a few words to the court.

Judge: By all means.

(Tactic - The blame is on the government having bad laws, and not myself)

George: In all honesty, I don't feel like what I've done is a crime and I think it's illogical and irresponsible for you to sentence me to prison.

Judge: I don't make the laws.

(Tactic - What I did wasn't that bad compared to other crimes)

George: None of the real criminals of the world ever end up behind bars.

Judge: Well according to the law you are a real criminal.

(Tactic - Trying to downplay the crime commited)

George: I mean, when you think about it, what did I really do?

Judge: Your tried to distribute and sell large amounts of marijuana.

My terminology is referencing Carl Jung and his psychoanalysis. They’re what George Lucas derived the backbone of Star Wars’s themes from. Also, in the same scene that Nute Gunray describes the Gungans as β€œprimitives,” there’s a cut line where he assures β€œWe do not expect much resistance.”

Meet George Jung, The Notorious Cocaine Smuggler Who Inspired The Movie β€˜Blow’

"Basically I was no different than a rock star or a movie star. I was a coke star."

As Pablo Escobar's leading smuggler, George Jung was making millions per trip β€” and living large. He claimed to have made over $100 million total, which he stashed in an offshore account.

At one point, Jung had so much money and cocaine to spare that he'd pile the coke on tables and burn his cash.
