You've been in bands such as King Crimson, Asia, and Yes. What do you think of the "downfall" of progressive rock? What do you think of the change in popular music? | JW I think progressive rock is enjoying an upsurge now---there's a lot of it about, and new bands coming along all the time. |
GD: I don't think there is 'downfall' in progressive rock. On the contrary, I believe there has been a considerable resurgence in recent years. | |
John, as a bass player myself, hearing your work with Mogul Thrash and King Crimson a few years ago completely changed my view on bass playing. What lead to you having that distinct approach to playing? Also, what gear did you use? This may already be answered, but what modern progressive rock bands do you guys enjoy, or would want to tour with? | JW Testosterone. As you may have noticed, my style has simplified recently. Carpal Tunnel compounded that. |
Why do you think Heat of the Moment became so popular, what was the first indication that it was a hit? | When J and I sat down at his 'magic' piano back in 1981 and put our 2 ideas together, we knew it was most likely to be the lead-off track on the album. Little did we know it would still be played 33 years later though! |
John, I'm a big King Crimson fan, I'm interested in the way you approached the improv nature of the band. How much of the song was worked out previous to the performance? | JW We had formal pieces, and a couple of signposts, and the rest was 100% improvisation. Sometimes the improv was so good you couldn't tell what was improv and what wasn't, and other times it was bad, but overall it was incredible. |
How did Asia get its name? | We have to give some credit (although not too much) to our former manager for that one. |

... keep reading on reddit β‘Geoff knows damn well of the speculations and connections with kojima and he could be the answer to all this. The fake dm, the PICS and his conversations with hasan..... Its all pretty weird and shady and this reminds me a lot of Moby Dick Studios. He could just clear all speculations and say this has nothing to do with kojima but no, he keeps toying with us and that keeps me away from dismissing all this.
get his ass.
After watching the last AHWU I've been left with a strong nostalgia feeling. I remember the exact time where I found Rooster Teeth.
I had just started working at EA Mobile in Montreal as a tester in February 2010. I had just turn 18 and just learned what reddit was and I stumbled across the Rooste Teeth comics. And that led me to the site and from there I remember my first podcast I listened to was the Drunk tank eps 99. This was important because episode 100 was the first video podcast Rooster Teeth had ever done if I recall. Now for the next year I only knew Rooster Teeth through the podcast and it wasn't until April of 2011 when I was struggling to get the Final Transmission trophy on Portal 2 and that's when I found Jack and Geoff and Achievement Hunter. They became my go to source for Trophies/Achievements and from there I was always on their site watching Fails and Horse amd AHWU and the rest is history.
I have not missed a day where I don't remember logging into RoosterTeeth.com. I remember every new member of AH starting with Michael an after Gavin joined full time I remember saying this is the best I hope no one else joins, because it'll ruin the dynamic. And boy was I wrong. MYYAT.
AH has giving me more joy that I can ever repay them. When I was in my lowest struggle with depression, AH was ALWAYS there with new content to make me laugh and brighten up my life.
I am now 30, married with 2 kids and I want to say from the bottom of my soul, thank you AH for continuous releasing content without skipping a beat.
And thank you to all the editors. I love you all!!!
Alexander Karacan.
P.S my favorite old school video was Gavin getting the cabbage into the Bucket https://youtu.be/RWl-IHKsKdE
