So, I want to buy a D:A albums but I've never bought from weverse. I know ktown4u counts albums bought from the site on Gaon and Hanteo charts but how about weverse? Thank you in advance.

What’s the difference between the gaon retail album chart numbers and the regular gaon album numbers that we see displayed?

So basically based on the Gaon album chart, I complied 2 tables for each year - 1 for boy groups and the other for girl groups. Also just fyi, includes subunits but no soloist on this list though I might do it on another post?

But... It is legit? Dreamcatcher really are one of the only 5 female acts? Because I love them but it seems weird. Gaon has released the album physical sales for the first half of 2021. These are the sales that have happened in 2021 from January 1st to June 30th, regardless of what year the album was released

Only albums released in 2018 and later are eligible for certifications. It takes 2 months since release for an album to gain a certification.

I don't know why but there they are. Their last release was the sub-unit Bastarz's I'm A Mess in early 2019 and their last release as a full group was Don't Leave in January(?) 2018, three and a half years ago. Since then they've mostly just been doing military, with P.O still doing variety stuff. I saw on twitter that they're viral on korean tiktok rn but idk. I'm just happy to see them trending so highly despite not doing anything!

Gaon Chart just released the Retail Album Chart for week 37 (September 5~11) and Brave Girls' After 'We Ride' album comes in at number 16. According to the chart, this is the third week that the album appeared on the chart, peaking at number 11 the week before. During the tabulation period, After 'We Ride' has sold 1.072 units.

The retail album chart tracks physical units sold through various retail channels. The general album chart tracks units released from wholesalers, minus any returns.

Gaon Music Chart was established in 2010 as Korea's answer to Billboard and Oricon by the Korean Music Content Association. The chart tracks and compiles data from multitude of sources, unlike streaming charts, which tracks data only from their users.

Hey guys, so I was just having a discussion with other kpop fans in discord community nd many new fans wondered with how important album sales have become now, which artists used to dominate album charts in the past nd who were the big hitters of industry who made money through physical sales.

I love dealing with figures nd statistical data as im a finance student. This gave me an idea to make a post collecting data since the start of gaon chart for every year. I gotta say I had a lot of fun collecting data nd I even went back to listening some past albums from the list. All in all, I had a great time nd hope the reader, u also find this interesting.

The format will be with artist name in the front - album name in the middle - number of copies sold during the year in the end. Let's start with 2010 when gaon got established.

This is just some little fun for me to kill time, I haven't posted here in a while. This is just a list of facts and achievements that groups/ soloist have achieved on the Gaon Album chart (not digital) meaning physical sales. The chart was made in 2010 and has become the most well known album chart in Korea. If I got anything wrong tell me and I'll double check because I don't want to say the wrong information.

Highest selling boy group album and highest selling album is BTS full album "Map of soul: 7" released in 2020 being the only Kpop album with over 4 million copies sold. They were also the first groups to reach the 1m, 2m and 3m album milestone ("Love yourself her" an EP "Love yourself: Answer" Compilation album and "Map of soul: Persona" a Full album)

Highest selling album was Blackpink first full album "The album" which is also the first girl group album to reach 1m sales and the only girl group album in the top ten all time.

Highest selling album from a male soloist is Baekhyun "Bambi" being the only soloist with over 1m copies sold.

Highest selling album for a female soloist is Rose "R" selling over half a million copies.

Highest selling album from a subunit is EXO-SC "1 billion views" which sold more then half a million copies (technically NCT 127 "Neo zone" has the most copies sold with 800,000+ copies sold, but with how NCT as a group works I consider NCT 127 as it's own group)

The best selling album from a fourth gen group X1 with "Emergency: Quantum leap" which was released in 2021 (I don't really consider NCT fourth gen since they debut in 2016)

The group with the second most albums with 1m+ sales (behind BTS) is Seventeen with two.

The top three groups with the most weeks at number one is EXO with 35, BTS with 26 and SNSD and Super Junior tying for third place with 21.

This order is virtually the same for months, EXO with 17, BTS with 12 and SNSD with 10. Super Junior finishes fourth with 9.

The only girl group to have an album end in the top three or higher on the year end top ten chart is SNSD, being the only girl group to end as the number one of the year in 2011 with "The boys" Blackpink was unlucky to release their album in the most successful year for gaon which was 2020.

For Week 32 of 2021 (Aug 1 to Aug 7), Gaon recorded a total number of units shipped to stores at 9,252. Hence, this is the group's first appearance, and highest rank so far.

This number will also be slightly different from the Hanteo numbers, which also accounts for the number of units sold. Gaon numbers are taken into consideration for the year end music awards, whilst Hanteo numbers are taken into consideration for the weekly music shows.
