G# extremely Sharp

I play Alto, and all of my other notes are primarily in tune. Once I get to High G# It becomes 20-30 cents sharp. I try to do everything to try and get it in tune, I change my embouchure, I drop my jaw a little and nothing works. I play on a Cannonball Big Bell Alto, I don't know if this is a known issue or not for people with these horns.

C# (I) and G# (V), double sharp thingy?

Hey!

I'm watching Adam Neely's new Q&A and there he talked about that in a classical style of music (he mentioned Bach) composers switch between the I's key and the V's key (Genitive 's) that makes sense to me. But then, as he "transposed" the Piece from C Major into C# Major Adam talked about a double sharp in the V (G# Major).

Somehow I understand why to use a double sharp there, but somehow I don't understand. I'm still more like an amateur to music theory still.

If anyone could explain me why to use a double sharp there, I'd be very grateful.

What is the reason why F# is in the key of G major? (And other times sharps/flats appear in major scales)

In the C major scale, it makes sense to me why the notes are just CDEFGABC, simple enough. I look up key of G, it looks similar; however F# replaces where I think a regular F should be. GABCDEF#G.

Then you go into other keys and there's even more sharps in the scales! I don't understand the reason why this is.

TLDR: ELI5 what are the rules behind a major scale?

Tenor Sax is squeaking when going from high A to G (or G sharp)

Hey yall,

I just had an issue come up today where my horn squeaks real bad when i am going down from high (not altissimo to be clear) A to high G. I think I found the cause of my issue: when you press L3 (G key) it opens up a side valve that means the octave pad should go down, but in my case the octave pad doesn't go down. Since I'm still playing a high note, I am holding the octave key, but instead of the top octave pad being open it should close while the side valve opens, but that isn't happening for me. Going up it's fine, playing a G or A on its own is fine, it's just coming down that it's an issue so I'm 99% sure its related to the octave key issue. I'm wondering if anybody else has had this issue, and if y'all know how you would fix this? Leave any clarifying questions or anything below and I'll answer. Thanks!

Others that come to mind are Slick Rick’s Great Adventures, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Death Grips’ No Love Deep Web and Travi$ Scott’s Rodeo. All of these albums above conjure an immersive cinema through the conduit of hip-hop.

Any and all suggestions that these titles may remind you of are welcome.

Australian electricity is just sharp of a G. What is it in your country?

A friend today solved a long curiosity of mine. I noticed that almost all electrical noises I heard were the same pitch - just above a G. The fluorescent lights' hum, the hum of capacitors and electrical boxes, the hum of the toaster warming up, and the note produced by the pump on my coffee machine, to name a few. I noticed my friend's coffee machine made a hum at exactly the same pitch, and when I explained the curiosity to him (an engineer) he told me that all electricity in Australia travels at 50hz. Sure enough, I looked it up and a G1 is 49hz, and a G#1 is 51.91hz. So therefore, every electrical hum in Australia is just sharp of a G.

Apparently American electricity travels at 60hz, which means all appliances in America hum at a quarter tone between Bb1 and B1. Can someone confirm this??

What is it in your country?
