[no spoilers] it’s funny how (if remotely true) Vikings like Ragnar cared so dearly about fame, and their name being remembered…

And here we are centuries later watching television dramas about them. It’s funny to imagine, how they couldn’t even possibly imagine

Quintessential Viking: Name one player, past or present, that is the quintessential Minnesota Viking. Not the best, but rather one who represents what this team is/has been all about.

I’ve got two: First, Teddy Brown, because he was very good, but never great (much like the Vikings). And second, Onterrio Smith. He was serviceable, but then he brought us the whole Whizzenator fiasco.

Name a player the Vikings acquired via either the draft or free agency that you were sure would be a fantastic acquisition but were dead wrong. Then name a Vikings player acquisition you thought would be terrible for the team, but ended up being great.

I’ll start.

I thought Greg Childs was going to be a steal in the draft. I was wrong before that season even began.

Then I was sure that Kirk Cousins was going to be a terrible move for us, and I was wrong. He and the offense are the only thing keeping this team afloat the last 2 years.

STOP using shorthand or funny names of people and organizations.

Citadel AKA Shitadel, etc.

Ken Griffin AKA Kenny, KG, Mayo Boy, etc.

Fidelity AKA FUDelity, etc.

If apes do not use the correct spelling this will only muddy the water or diminish the spotlight on these people of groups. This is due to SEO(search engine optimization).

You better believe Ken Griffin the illegal short seller of Citadel Securities doesn’t want the spotlight on him or his organization. When apes post, they must remain focused on utilizing correct spelling in order to keep the spotlight and search trends full throttle on Ken Griffin the illegal short seller of Citadel and his illegal trading practices on GameStop and GME.

Not naming them only helps shills hide what apes have discovered in their DD. Let’s help r/superstonk get the attention it deserves by being clear and concise in naming market makers and their illegal practices.

If you have a problem with the Atlanta Braves name and believe it should be changed, then the Minnesota Vikings name should be changed for the exact same reasons.

This is not an argument on if names should or shouldn’t be changed. Rather for the reasons behind them.

I’ve seen the β€œOh the Braves should change their name” argument come up again with their appearance in the World Series, and with the more recent name changes to a couple of other teams in a few American sports (rightly or wrongly).

How are the Braves and Vikings the same thing? Well in both cases, it’s sets of people who are caricaturized by a sports team. The Braves have a tomahawk as part of their branding logos, the Vikings have a dude with the standard β€œViking horns” and long hair on their logo. The Braves fans do a venture called the β€œtomahawk chop” at their games, the Vikings fans shout β€œSKOL” at theirs, and even use a gjallarhorn when they score or get first downs.

If your argument is that the Braves branding needs to be changed because it’s a caricature of Native American cultures, fine. But the Vikings name is just as guilty, if not more so. Don’t act like it isn’t.

LPT: If someone introduces themselves to you, and their name makes you think of a funny joke, they've already heard it. A thousand times.

No, your joke isn't creative. Yes, they know the reference. They've heard it many times before. And a good chance that even if they say "haha, that's a new one" it probably isn't and they just want to spare your feelings. In fact, not acknowledging the low hanging fruit and simply responding with your own name will probably be more appreciated by them and they will think of you as more mature and likable.

It’s funny that people are suddenly crying about Gunther being a Nazi name when Walter’s actual name is the same as a Nazi as well

Just Google β€œWalter Hahn WW2” and the very first link leads to a Nazi soldier. I just love how no one blinked at this, and yet are suddenly history experts when a more German-sounding name is brought.

And because of this, I’m starting to lean to the idea that this name change was Walter’s idea.

The Comprehensive List of Funny Dutch Lizardmen Names

Hola Skinks,

After having noticed many times that certain lizardmen names for generic lords and heroes appear to be puns on Dutch words I finally decided to compile these funny names into a single Bok, I mean list, so that you too won't be able to take these names seriously again. If I'm forced to giggle every time I try to recruit a new lord, so should you. While sometimes the actual spelling may appear quite different to the in-game spelling, as a Dutchman I assure you the way they'd be pronounced would be the same.

For convenience, I've listed the actual name of the characters as they appear in-game, the way it would be spelled in Dutch, and the actual meaning in Dutch. I hope someone'll get a good chuckle out of this.

Name Actual Dutch spelling Meaning
Bahl'gehaqt Bal gehakt Meatball
Besstel'bus Bestelbus Delivery van
Cho'comel Chocomel A chocolate milk brand
Dediqqe'pad De dikke pad The fat toad
Defiq’erin De fik erin A phrase meaning something along the lines of β€œlight it up”, β€œset it on fire.”
Flinq-Meppen Flink meppen Something along the lines of giving a good beating. Handing out some good punches.
Friqan’del Frikandel A sausage-like snack made out of meat.
Geef’eten Geef eten Literally: give food
Kale-Qano Kale kano Literally: bald canoe. This one doesn't make much sense but still pretty funny
Katte'bak Kattenbak Litter box
Potteke-Vet Potteke vet Jar of Fat / Grease (Potteke not really being modern spelling)
Qop'eraf Kop eraf Literally: Head off. Something along the lines of β€œOff with [their/it’s etc.] head”
Ratte-Plet'ten Ratten pletten My personal favorite, literally meaning: Squashing rats
Slooptal'les Sloopt alles Destroys everything
Trapt-Op-Staart Trapt op staart Steps on tail
Veel'tekoud Veel te koud Far too cold
