A list of puns related to "Funny Marching Band"
Because he kept burying the trombones.
Basically the title.
I am a Band Booster and have started a discussion with our School Board to try and get our students a PE credit for participating in marching band. If your school does that, Iβd love to hear about it to see how it works and bring that to the Board. It would be helpful to know your school district but I understand that you may not want to publicly disclose that so feel free to message me. Thank you!
Looking through this sub has made me feel scared that our band isn't that big (and seeing other bands at competitions). For reference, we have like ~65 people or something close to that.
My band uses completely straight leg marching, it's tradition for us. I'm curious how you guys march!
I have a feeling that alot of these will involve band camp. I wonder why.
Inspired by an unpopular opinion that cropped up a few days ago.
I don't have anything against cheerleaders; the stunts are incredible and require tons of skill to pull off. But at major league games? You can barely see or hear them in the stadium or arena. Unless you have floor seats you probably don't even know what they're chanting to the crowd.
So! Replace them all with marching bands. Gets the crowd going, can actually be heard and seen at all times by everyone attending, and they'll double as pre & post game entertainment.
I want to get egregiously drunk to tubas and clarinets playing my team anthem, not squint my eyes at the cheer squad trying to figure out what we're supposed to be chanting.
Edit: I'm open to any music in the stands, but I want it loud and bumping
...but it's okay for students and staff to attend the March for Life?
Seriously?
And by the way, I'm pro-life. Traveling round-trip from South Bend to DC on a coach bus with dozens of people isn't exactly a pro-life move right now.
Hi, I was just curious if woodwinds are important in marching band. Im currently a tenor sax player and im looking to join marching band in my freshman year. In videos I can't hear the woodwinds (woodwind feature excluded) and my older brother is currently center snare. I'm thinking about joining percussion but i just wanted to know if woodwinds are useful in marching band.
I play the Tenors and I also play football in my marching band. I was wondering if anyone else did this? This is just my freshman year so I play for JV and I preform at Varsity. Also, band camp is hard but not nearly as hard as a football practice fyi.
What are some Weird or Awkward moments that have happened in your Marching Band?
Iβm really bored and I love hearing peopleβs stories.
I'm a sophomore color guard member in my high school marching band and I was looking at possibly marching trombone senior year.
I've talked to the band directors and they lent me one of the school's trombones whilst I organize getting my own trombone. I also have been looking at getting private lessons and have already been practicing with another friend who's doing the exact same switch as me but with Tuba.
My only worry is that I wouldn't be at a good enough level to march even after a year. Junior year is already very late to join and my only past experience has been 6 months on guitar. Luckily I can read basic treble and bass clef already.
Marching in this upcoming season would be impossible though I would have loved to do so, the stress of learning both a new instrument, reading advanced music and learning marching technique would be too much from what I've heard.
By the time I reach Senior year, I would have a singular concert season under my belt (pretty much anyone can get I concert band at my school) + private lesson hours so that would be a bit more ideal. However, my resources are minimal but I have been practicing with what I have (a few of my friends let me borrow their middle school band books) up to an hour and half a day with breaks to rest my chops.
If I'm being honest, no matter how bad I sound I really enjoy playing. Possibly even more than spinning.
This post is just to ask if this would this even be realistically possible? Are there any good resources you would recommend? Any tips? Anything would help.
I'm also looking to talk further with my band directors eventually.
Also sorry for the bad formatting, I'm on mobile.
I noticed this trend with mine and a few other bands in my area (we're from Texas). We never do the best at BOA competitions but at UIL we kill it. The problem is, we are more music-inclined and focus on the technicalities of our marching and less on show design and props (we still have props though). I'm not sure how it is in other areas
So, Iβm a junior this year. Iβve done class band for 6 years now, and Iβve marched for three. I have always loved band and the opportunities, friends, and self fulfillment that itβs brought me. Iβve dreamt of marching and leading since I was SUPER young. This past season I made low brass section leader, and I was so so excited to do something with the inner workings of the band and push my section forward the best I could. I got a lot of good memories, meaningful keepsakes, and experiences I will never forget. But I also was thrown into the disgusting social hierarchy among the leadership. There was so much gossip, and shit talk, and hatred towards people for largely NO reason. There were some others in leadership that caused problems so bad that our director had to have a word with them. It was absolutely ridiculous, and Iβm ashamed to say that these people came from my grade. Dealing with it all 24 F-ING 7 was so mentally draining. I made a lot of senior friends this past season, and once they graduate next year I will be practically alone with the people who do nothing but shit talk and gossip about each other. These people who I once considered my close friends now give me silence, and dirty looks. I got sucked into the two-facedness too but once the season ended I realized how messed up everything was and I felt horrible. Band is no longer enjoyable for me, I feel lost, rejected, out of place, mentally exhausted from the constant slew of petty drama. I want to quit so bad, but I feel almost as if Iβll be letting everyone down in a way. I just donβt know how much more of this shit I can take. Itβs like the simple title of βSection Leaderβ went to so many peoples heads, and theyβve put themselves on massive pedestals above everyone else. They look down on other sections in a malicious way, and always have SOMETHING to say about SOMEBODY. Iβm just plain exhausted and driven away. Thanks for listening.
I'm the kind of person who goes from bottom to top when looking at a line-up. One of my first crazy discoveries is MEUTE, which can best described as a marching band who play dance music covers. I love when Coachella books a few oddball acts for the weirdos out in cyberspace. Fun fact: a user on this subreddit made wishlist post for MEUTE about three years, so I hope they're happy they got their wish.
Just the current main crew, leaving out any guests (tim, Mina, Magill, Greg, etc.). Iβm ranking just out of how much I enjoy their performance on the show. Disclaimer: I love all of them but recognize some are better than others on-air.
Juju (hilarious, brilliant, and creative mind that doesnβt always translate well on-mic)
Tony (just donβt ever feel like I get enough time with him to flesh out his personality)
Wittyngham (fills a very similar niche that Pablo did but perhaps dies on hills he doesnβt need to far too often)
Chris Cote (comedic genius but I feel Iβm laughing at him more than with most times)
Smetty (Got the show faster and more accurately encompasses its spirit than anyone who has ever joined the show. Brilliant addition and I didnβt think the hole in my heart that Allyson left would ever be filled. Very different roles for the show but a strong female presence adds so much to the Feng shui)
Stugotz (used to be higher but as the years go on, he no longer feels like he has a chip on his shoulder like he used to)
Roy (Royβs realm is a delight and forever my favorite bit)
Dan (As he leans into the gasbaggery of top ten lists and continues to be fallible, he becomes like an endearing old pet potbelly pig)
Mike Ryan (The voices and impressions are some of my favorite show moments ever)
Billy (wasnβt always this way but the evolution of his on air character over the past few years has been a real game changer)
