TLDR: My best friend included a cake that I made in her baking portfolio to convince somebody to let her make their wedding desserts and didn't give me credit. She told me 6 months later and laughed it off. Should she still be my friend or maid-of-honor?
My [25F] best friend (let's call her Jane, [24F]) and I are in the same graduate program, along with her boyfriend (let's call him John [25M]) and my fiancΓ© (let's call him Michael [24M]). We've all been friends since our first year, and we are now in the middle of our third year. John, Michael, and I were friends before Jane was included in our friend group, so I have a closer relationship with John than I do with Jane. I asked Jane to be my maid-of-honor in July 2021 after Michael and I got engaged in June 2021. We asked John (now her boyfriend) to be our best man at the same time. Michael and I started dating in December 2019, and Jane & John recently started dating in August 2021. Since they've started dating, our friend dynamic has completely changed (not surprising).
Jane has ALWAYS been very competitive with me, and I have often noticed that she copies my hobbies & interests. She broke up with her boyfriend in 2019 right after I broke up with my boyfriend, she chose almost the exact same PhD committee as I did, she is suddenly very interested in hobbies I am interested in, etc. Most of these things can be passed off as having similar interests, but some incidents have been very uncomfortable. For example, I recently made pumpkin bread for several friends and gave a portion to Jane and John. John subsequently stated that he wished Jane made baked goods for him more often. Jane responded by making a pumpkin roll the next day, which John bragged about over Snapchat. It felt like she was challenging me to a baking competition, when really I was just trying to make a treat for my friends. After I chose my committee, Jane chose 3/5 of the same members for her committee, which normally wouldn't matter, except she took her comprehensive exam after me and asked a ton of questions about what to expect from her committee in her exam, which is unfair information I didn't have. Jane has done several other things that are very coincidental but not concerning, like buying similar products as me, getting her hair done the same way I do with the same hairdresser, moving into the same apartment complex, etc. None of these things really bothered me, though I was definitely aware that she seemed to b
