A list of puns related to "Funny Kale"
Hola Skinks,
After having noticed many times that certain lizardmen names for generic lords and heroes appear to be puns on Dutch words I finally decided to compile these funny names into a single Bok, I mean list, so that you too won't be able to take these names seriously again. If I'm forced to giggle every time I try to recruit a new lord, so should you. While sometimes the actual spelling may appear quite different to the in-game spelling, as a Dutchman I assure you the way they'd be pronounced would be the same.
For convenience, I've listed the actual name of the characters as they appear in-game, the way it would be spelled in Dutch, and the actual meaning in Dutch. I hope someone'll get a good chuckle out of this.
Name | Actual Dutch spelling | Meaning |
---|---|---|
Bahl'gehaqt | Bal gehakt | Meatball |
Besstel'bus | Bestelbus | Delivery van |
Cho'comel | Chocomel | A chocolate milk brand |
Dediqqe'pad | De dikke pad | The fat toad |
Defiqβerin | De fik erin | A phrase meaning something along the lines of βlight it upβ, βset it on fire.β |
Flinq-Meppen | Flink meppen | Something along the lines of giving a good beating. Handing out some good punches. |
Friqanβdel | Frikandel | A sausage-like snack made out of meat. |
Geefβeten | Geef eten | Literally: give food |
Kale-Qano | Kale kano | Literally: bald canoe. This one doesn't make much sense but still pretty funny |
Katte'bak | Kattenbak | Litter box |
Potteke-Vet | Potteke vet | Jar of Fat / Grease (Potteke not really being modern spelling) |
Qop'eraf | Kop eraf | Literally: Head off. Something along the lines of βOff with [their/itβs etc.] headβ |
Ratte-Plet'ten | Ratten pletten | My personal favorite, literally meaning: Squashing rats |
Slooptal'les | Sloopt alles | Destroys everything |
Trapt-Op-Staart | Trapt op staart | Steps on tail |
Veel'tekoud | Veel te koud | Far too cold |
Wegg'werqerr | Wegwerker | Road worker |
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Not sure what the appeal is there. On The Office her character worked because it was a prissy stuck up bitch with no brains or looks. But literally everything she has done outside the Office hasbeen trash.
She just isn't funny. And that's fine. Neither is Sarah Silverman but at least she's pretty hot. Kaling doesn't even have that going for her. She's just a very boring unfunny super unattractive and overweight celebrity who got lucky with being associated with the office and, let's be real, was probably always a diversity hire for that staff anyway.
I'm not here to be the harsh critic or anything like that. But did anyone else get the vibe that she was trying way too hard to be like "the gang" in her delivery and jokes, and it felt so forced coming from her, and not in the funny over the top way that Dee makes fun of Fatty Magoo at the reunion.
I can honestly say I love every single episode of IAS, yes, even "Franks Brother". And I even love Mindy in some of the other things she has done, she is in no way NOT funny, but in this episode it just was not clicking. Now I understand the point of the episode was the gang was supposed to be trying something new and going in a different direction and that's kind of the "theme", but I cant be alone in thinking this because to me it just seems to obvious.....
Thoughts?
Mindy Kaling created this new HBO Max show and it has seriously impressed me. It is a super easy watch, and very funny. All four main characters are fantastic and really nail their roles. It also captures the real life college experience/culture, more so than most other college aged shows and movies I've watched. I would recommend it highly to pretty much anyone!
EDIT: for reference, I am 30M and I was not expecting this to be my cup of tea. But my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying this.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Got another 7. Not quite sure what to do next, keep going for the 8 or try querying.... any advice welcome.
TITLE: Kids Vs Vegetables
LOGLINE: When backyard vegetables roar to life and attack, a nature-loving teen must battle cabbages, kale stalks and Grandma's dreaded brussels sprouts to save her brother and survive the night.
It's Gremlins meets Goosebumps in the style of Labyrinth/Dark Crystal.
Script here.

Strengths
The central premise of this material is strong - it feels fun and simple enough to appeal to potential audiences with a minimum of explanation. There's some strong genre precedents as far as kid-oriented sci-fi/horror, and the script does a good job of working within that mode while for the most part avoiding too much direct overlap (though Willis and Evie's filmmaking exploits can sometimes seem to recall Super 8 a bit closely, and Scar-Head does bring to mind Stripe/Mohawk from the Gremlins films). The bloody bucket full of animal offal is a striking piece of imagery that should test the mettle of young audiences while simultaneously coming across as a gruesome but understandable fact of life and a grounded, organic element of the narrative's farm setting. Evie apologizing to the tree is an endearing bit of character behavior. The vegetables running riot in the kitchen is a Gremlins-esque moment that plays well. The use of high-fructose substances against the vegetables is funny and works neatly within the narrative, and all the juice-gun action should be effective on screen. The sibling relationship contributes a welcome sense of stakes throughout, and makes Willis's capture a strong beat of escalation. Evie and Willis using their filmmaking skills during the climax is a solid payoff.
Weaknesses
Both the dialogue and the descriptive text seem to have a tendency to omit articles and other bits of connective language - while this approach appears to be aiming for a brisk, snappy quality, it can make dialogue read as unnaturally clipped and robotic ("Will help seal the wound"), while also disrupting the flow of the page at times ("Triggers a memory in Grandma"). The way in which the two scenes of Doc Holster and Alan being taken by the vegetable threat come in quick succession feels off in terms of pace. The actual physica

Nothing, he was gladiator.
Haven't watched the Super anime in its entirety ever since its first airings, so mostly working from memory but I remember the overall events and problems I had with stuff.
Battle of Gods: 4 Chapter recap, not much to talk about. Toyo draws Beerus very well, I love looking at him everytime he's in a panel. Appreciated that he added a bit of foreshadowing to the U6 arc, even if that aspect of the story/cast mostly goes nowhere. Kibito Kai and Old Kai going to Namek to protect the Dragonballs from Champa, realizing he's not coming, and Kibito Kai deciding "Meh, I may as well defuse while we're here" is hilarious to me for some reason. Very fun.
Resurrection F: lol
U6 Tourney: Wasn't a fan of either version really. A very low-stakes tournament with very little going on under the hood, and Toyo's very cramped and meticulous way of drawing fights did little for me in this version. I appreciate Goku sticking with God and then turning on Blue for the win against Hit. Ties the forms together and give them a bit more personality/purpose. It's not as spectacular as Blue Kaioken but it is nice that Toyo didn't get bored with God and Blue and move onto a new toy first chance he got. I like Blue Kaioken but come on. Would have been interesting if they actually lost this tournament and the following arcs were focused on U6 itself, really dive deep into their twin universe, but coulda shoulda woulda. All of early Super suffered from arcs not leading into the next very naturally so I can't fault Toyo himself for it. Hell, from the looks of things he's the one most bothered by it based on how Moro led to Granolah without issue.
I will say Hit vs Goku in this arc had some of the only striking pages/choreography in this set of arcs. That double spread of them squaring up for a final clash and then a very granular set of panels as Hit waits for a chance to stop time is one of the few times Toyotaro's method of drawing the manga shined for me.
Future Trunks: The arc is fundamentally flawed, but I greatly appreciated the changes to the pacing and how Toyo thought about Trunks and the Kais' places in the story. Making Gowasu and Supreme Kai consistent players and helpers in the events is just a perfectly logical thing to do in an arc focused on a rogue Kai. Trunks becoming a Kai apprentice to get stronger and developing that concept into him being able to heal others was good. Goku Black developing his Super Saiyan forms by cheating with Zamasu's he

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.

β¦ & Iβm so bummed out I have to wait for season 2. This isnβt my normal go-to genre (and I honestly passed it by so many times while scrolling HBO because I thought it would suck) but I was hooked about 5 minutes into it and completely binged. Mindy Kaling is a comedic genius and she navigated some very heady issues with ease, compassion, and humor. Plus, Belaβs personality is absolutely how I saw myself as an 18 year old ππ - When I was in college, βsex positivityβ wasnβt a thing; especially not a thing women were outspoken about and I got SO much grief about it. Itβs just a great little show that was easy to watch and made my heart happy. All that being said, should I watch The Mindy Project? Is it as funny? Looking for something else to watch to fill the void. Thanks for any recommendations!
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
