Our chocolate male and black female had one white puppy today. Just one. Male has thrown red, yellow, black, chocolate, and white in prior litters with our other female, but I just found it so funny that the only puppy isn't black or chocolate. Genetics are crazy!

Im half white (scottish, british, other western european etc), half taiwanese. I have two brothers. One of them has green eyes, light skin, pitch black hair, but he has a little bit of the epicanthic folds, and the rounder east asian nose and slight freckles. Some people can hardly tell what race he is.
In taiwan, kids would call him american and white, but in America people get a little bit stumped.
Meanwhile, my other older brother and I have a somewhat similar phenotype and I am a female and he is a male. We are both really tall. I have pretty black hair but his is even darker. We both have tan skin, and our eyes are brown. People can easily identify that me and my brother are east asian, but unsure about where. People sometimes even assume that we are full asian, but people in Taiwan can tell we are half white. I’ve been asked if I’m filipino which is kind of funny.
Also I have noticeable freckles on my nose like my oldest brother. Its really crazy how the dominant and recessive genes pull through in different kids. Sometimes I wonder about all the different combinations my parents could make but two siblings is already enough of a nightmare.

Most of your genetic mutations are so old they are scattered around the world , some are only typical of your ethnic group or "race" and mixed people but even then it s billions of people ... Nothing special so far.
Your recent unique mutations probably have no effect, those who have an effect tend to actually have a negative impact with positive effects being rare.
What is more unique is your gene variant sequence , I dont know how to explain it but more so that those genes have these spefic variations in your DNA sequences , so your offspring will Inherit a unique sequence of variations but the variations themselves aren't unique .
Let me know if I'm incorrect .

I thought it was about passing on YOUR genes. Of course even after gene-editing is done the parents will fondly think about how their genes made their "beautiful" kids. They'll conveniently forget about the editing part
(Of course I don't want kids to suffer from preventable genetic diseases. But I think not procreating is a better way of preventing this than gene editing)

I’m graduating with a BS in genetics in a couple weeks and I can’t decide what to put on my grad cap! I wanted to make a really pretty DNA helix out of flowers and then have some clever or witty quote about scientists or genetics.
I’m going for genetic counseling. The only thing I’ve thought of so far is “let me unzip your genes”, but that’s the most overused genetics pun. Got any ideas?
