A list of puns related to "Funny Dog Breed"
I Shih Tzu not.
I'll jump over my neighbor's fence and get it for you.
Domestic Short-haired cats are considered what a βtrueβ cat looks like once imposed breeding has been removed. With so many breeds of dogs, is there a βtrueβ dog form that would appear after several generations?
If you say "breed doesn't matter" when looking for a dog. You are not ready to have a dog.
You should always do research on breeds before getting a dog.
Do you have small animals/other pets? Should avoid dogs with a high prey drive.
Are you looking for a hiking/walking buddy, that you'll be super active with? There's specific breeds that do well with that.
Are you wanting a couch potato? Again, avoid high energy dogs.
Do you mind shedding?
Will you shave a double coat?
Do you have money for dogs that are known to have more vet bills, such as Danes, pugs, and bulldogs?
Are you able to afford 8 cups of food a day? Or can you only afford one?
These and many other things are what needs to go into choosing a dog.
If people researched dog breeds before getting them, there would be alot less rehoming.
Edit: Clarification. I am not against certain breeds, nor mutts. If they're what best fit you. All I'm saying, is be informed about the dog you're getting. And make sure that the breed(s) are able to work with your lifestyle.
Edit: Context. I'm mainly referring to those on Facebook groups looking for literally any dog they can get hands on, especially for kids as gifts.
Edit: Really getting tired of people saying shit about "why does it have to be a purebred, get a mutt." Not once did I say it has to be a purebred dog. What I DID say was to research ALL breeds (including in mutts) before you get them.
Yaβll, stop asking what kind of cat your cat is. 95% of cats (in America at least) are just cats - if it is a recognized breed from a licensed breeder then youβll know because itβll be in the purchase or adoption papers. Otherwise, its just a cat.
Thank you for reading this PSA and continue enjoying your fluffy friends antics and snuggles.
Just left the vet about an hour ago. Still livid. I have two amazing pups. One is a giant schnauzer, German mix and the other is a Carolina Dog. Today we brought in the carolina dog for her first checkup with this doc. I've had her a long time and she was always in great health but I recently got a form of pet insurance and this vet is within a 2 minute drive or 6 minute walk from my home. Brought her in. Vet techs were great. Front desk gave her a bone and pets. So far awesome experience. Then the doc comes in and starts checking my form. Asks me what the dogs breed is. I tell him she's a Carolina dog. He chuckles and says " ok, that's fine, you can just say you don't know". I tell him clearly that her breed IS a Carolina dog. "that's not a real breed. We'll just say she's a mutt". No dude. It's legit breed. My old vet had seen a few of them and I paid for some gene test just to double check. Maybe you've heard of the Dixie dingo or the American dingo? That's what she is. " Listen, I've been doing this for two decades. I can promise you there is no such breed as a Carolina dog. Maybe they refer to a certain blend of mutt but it's not an actual breed. I'm sorry you paid for services that may have lead to be believe that the breed exists but it's just not a real breed." At this point I'm pissed. It's too early and too ridiculous to put up with it. I go to pull up the AKC listing on the breed but the signal is shit so I kind of just fiddle with my phone while he waits. I'm feeling like a fool trying to convince this vet so I just tell him I don't think he's the right vet for my dogs and I don't need a check up from him. He tells his front desk to not charge me and wishes me a good day.
I know it's a stupid issue and I shouldn't have risked my dogs checkup because of a petty back and forth but I just couldn't rationalize letting a guy who didn't believe my dogs breed existed consult on her health. I'll be seeing my old vet first week in January.
TL:DR - saw a new vet who told me my Carolina Dogs breed wasn't a real breed and my old vet lied to me about the breed testing.
Are there certain breeds that would be more likely that others to stay with me, and not go running off into the bush? And, I assume there is some training involved. How would I train a dog/puppy to do that? Are there instructions somewhere?
I hope this isn't a dumb question. I freely admit my ignorance here and would love to hear from knowledgeable owners.
She eats everything and makes those weird sounds.

I'm not sure why this is such a provocative statement. Most people do not have a need for a large, powerful dog bred to bite things. Most people do not have the housing to keep an animal like this safely. This is not a provocative or controversial statement when said about a central asian shepherd, a maremma, or an anatolian. But for some reason it is a controversial statement when said about a pit bull.
There are some breeds I don't think even fit into our daily society anymore. Fila brasiliero are a breed that were bred first and foremost for killing intruders. As such the original breed standard stated that the judge at a show should not even be able to TOUCH the dog. As such they are more often than not a huge liability to anyone who buys them.
There is no place for a dog like this in modern society. Their role no longer exists. Therefore the dog shouldn't either. Again, this is not a controversial statement when I say it about a fila.
Many working bitesport breeds have propensity for human aggression. Some of them even have the possibility of redirecting onto the handler. The difference is that people who own and breed dogs like this don't let them go to just anyone. They screen homes and do not adopt the animals out as a pet, because they are NOT PETS and selling them to Karen with her two kids is setting them up to FAIL.
Sure, there are some people that have a legit need for a livestock guardian dog, or a dog for bitesport. And there are some experienced, seasoned professionals who do well with a gamey dog like a pit bull. I have met and work with several of these people. They are NOT regular pet owners. They are people who use dogs for sport, who give the dogs a job to do, and who have strict management in place 100% of the time. All of these people will tell you that large, athletic, energetic dogs with a bite drive are NOT good fits for a casual pet owner.
Your average pet owner CANNOT and WILL NOT dedicate themselves to this level of management, nor should they have to.
So why are rescues insisting that they do?
I get dragged along when my 90lb retriever finds something exciting. One time I actually fell to my knees. We work on loose leash skills everyday, and he gets better bit by bit but itβs going to take more time. Until then, am I just going to have to tough it out while he drags me on every walk? No. But I donβt know what to change, how to stop it.
Golden retriever, 90 lbs, 15 months old. No backyard. His exercise IS the daily walk, which is also his training time.
What dog breed makes you turn around and look twice?
For example: my dog is very vocal and dramatic, and we have long arguments about whether we should go out again even though we were just out an hour ago. If I tell him to please wait 10 minutes for me to finish my breakfast, he will cry like he's being murdered. I can take him for a 6 hour hike and by the time we get home he will already be whining about when we can go out again.
(Yes, he is a husky mix, emphasis on the husky. He drives me crazy but I adore him.)
