Has anyone come across a production video or interview that goes into detail about how Freema Agyeman ended up playing both Adeola Oshodi and Martha Jones on NuWho? I know sheβs not the only actor to play a one-off/smaller role before returning for a bigger part (see Capaldi, Gillen, etc), but I think she might be the actor whose appearances are different characters are the closest together in the production schedule. Oshodi appears in episodes 212 and 213, the last two episodes of that Series, and then Martha makes her appearance in the first episode of Series 3.
Was the Series 2 finale filmed earlier in the schedule, that the producers fell in love with her before pinning down a companion for Series 3 and decided to give her the job based on that performance? Was she already slated to appear at Martha in Season 3 and they just needed an actor on the day, so they brought her in last minute for the Series 2 episodes? I know they give the two characters an in-universe family connection but itβs so hand wavy I canβt honestly imagine it was pre-planned, so Iβm fascinated how this occurred and yet no luck googling an answer
