I DEMAND interesting readings about Frederick the Great of Prussia!!

I don't actually demand, I am in fact humbly requesting, but you gotta hook 'em in somehow.

I took a quick gander at the sub's reading list and I didn't find anything but of course I might have missed it. What I am looking for is biographic works, perhaps with a specific focus like 'how Frederick the Great completely revolutionized the way we think about pineapple pizza' or something like that. I am not terribly interested in military history although I know it's a major aspect of his legacy. Broadly I want a look into what this revered enlightened despot was like so if you have some suggestions I would mightily appreciate it, thank you very much.

I'm on mobile so if formating is butchered I sincerely apologize. Thanks again to any and all who might deem it fit to bless me with their knowledge.

How would I find a certain Frederick of Prussia's writings?

One of the problems is I am unsure whether or not it was Frederick the Great or the Great Elector that wrote this. But I took AP European History this year and at one point we read this document that was a Frederick's thoughts on the purpose of taxation (something along the lines of it being wages for the government) and I have been trying to find it again but to no avail, and my teacher is unable to find it either.

What if Queen Victoria never sent her daughter to marry Crown Prince Frederick (future Kaiser Frederick III) of Prussia?

Let's say that for some reason. Queen Victoria just doesn't like Prussia and doesn't send her daughter, Princess Victoria to marry Crown Prince Frederick (future Kaiser Frederick III), thus making Kaiser Wilhelm II never born. How would this affect Germany or WWI.

Wasn't House Wettin of Saxony incredibly annoyed about the fact they were one Grandmaster of the Teutonic Order away from unifying Saxony with Prussia (through GM Frederick)?

I am trying to wrap my head around this odd connection.

The history of Brandenburg-Prussia and eventually the Kingdom of Prussia is one of chance and marriage politics. One of the key moments was in 1525 when the last Grandmaster of the Teutonic Order, Albrecht (a Hohenzollern), decided to abandon his post and become the Duke of Prussia, treating it as a Polish fiefdom and pledging a personal oath to King Sigismund I.

As I was reading about Grandmasters of the Teutonic Order I realize that the second-last Grandmaster of the Teutonic Order was a Wettin. This house, from the late 17th century, briefly supplied the King of Poland. Weren't they incredibly frustrated with the fact that they were one Grandmaster away from keeping the Prussian territories within a hereditary Wettin line?

There is no mention of it in the books I have laying around (admittedly, they focus primarily on Prussia after 1525), and the internet gives me no real answers either.

I drove 8 hours and stood in line for hours outside before the store opened, so I could be first in line. It was worth every, single second. I bought a pair of Danny's signature sticks at the store in hopes that I would get to talk to him after the clinic. He was extremely nice, he was eager, and didn't push me away. I was shaking and emotional when I asked him to sign. Without hesitation, he signed and thanked ME for being a dedicated fan.

These pics are priceless and I still can't believe how close I was to DANNY CAREY!

I recently discovered Frederick Douglass's 'What to a slave is the 4th of July?' It made me wonder: DID states with slavery think their slaves were, or ought to be, patriotic and attached to national institutions/symbols?

Most of my historical reading is in the ancient world, where slaves are often involved in conflicts in the sense that one side or the other promises them freedom for fighting with them: this seems essentially transactional rather than appealing to national feeling. I'd guess that slaves in the Roman Empire who had powerful/prestigious roles and material comforts might have felt part of Roman civilisation and identified with it.

But did American politicians or slave-owners expect chattel slaves to be stirred by the Star-Spangled Banner or to identify as part of America, or similar for other more recent slave-owning countries ? Would they have even wanted them to, or would identity with the nation (especially one 'founded on liberty') be too revolutionary?
