A list of puns related to "Fred Clarke"
All,
I did an interview with Fred Clarke about a month ago about fertilizing Catasetums. The discussion applies to overall orchid fertilizing and is not just for Catasetums. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/UR1uG3Nq1As
Certainly the end of an era, even if he did rub a few people (including me) the wrong way. Visiting Brands Hatch or your local circuit won't be the same.
Any idea or suggestions of who could take over? I hope it's not Larry Carter. Could be one for Keith Huewen, especially after he showed interest in the BSB Eurosport job.
Or saying that, Burnicle would be cool. Maybe that's why Steve Day is now at Eurosport
I've recommended Fred Clarke in the past on this sub, as he did a long-running page-by-page dissection of the egregiously awful Left Behind series of books/films that's worth checking out (link).
This particular article covers the decades-old rumor that the CEO of Proctor & Gamble (company that makes a huge portion of household products used by Americans) went on a TV talk show and admitted that the company is run by Satanists and donates money to the Church of Satan, etc. Been an urban legend since pretty much the 1980s. Clarke (active in Christian ministry at the time) details how he got a debunk packet from the company and spread it around, and was horrified to learn that people don't enjoy having their moronic and corrosive beliefs debunked:
>The dossier/Snopes approach doesnβt work because it attempts to apply facts and reason to people who are not interested in either facts or reason. Thatβs not a nice thing to say, or even to think, about anyone else, which is why I was reluctant and slow to reach that conclusion. But that conclusion was inevitable.
>
>In trying to combat the P&G slander with nothing more than irrefutable facts proving it false, I was operating under a set of false assumptions. Among these:
>
>1. I assumed that the people who claimed to believe that Procter & Gamble supported the Church of Satan really did believe such a thing.
>
>2. I assumed that they were passing on this rumor in good faith β that they were misinforming others only because they had, themselves, been misinformed.
>
>3. I assumed that they would respect, or care about, or at least be willing to consider, the actual facts of the matter.
>
>4. Because the people spreading this rumor claimed to be horrified/angry about its allegations, I assumed that they would be happy/relieved to learn that these allegations were, indisputably, not true.
>
>All of those assumptions proved to be false. All of them. This was at first bewildering, then disappointing, and then, the more I thought about it, appalling β so appalling that I was reluctant to accept that it could really be the case.
>
>But it is the case. Letβs go through that list again. The following are all true of the people spreading the Procter & Gamble rumor:
>
>1. They didnβt really believ
