A list of puns related to "Fort Richardson"
Branch manager is actually giving me a choice between my top twp choices for my first duty station post-BOLC. Iβm an OD LT, married. Husband would be excited about either as he was born with family in Germany, our mutual best friend lives 20 min from Vilseck, and he grew up in Alaska and loved it.
Iβm a dumbass 2LT who has no idea what sheβs doing yet and a little stressed about biting off more than I can chew and fucking it up for everyone, any experienced opinions on which is the better duty station?
Edit: Forgot to mention that husband is Air Force Reserves for one more year, and Richardson is a joint base. Neither of us is sure yet how an OCONUS assignment affects that.
UPDATE: Thank you all for the advice and thoughts! It was pretty unanimous and I took Vilseck. Really nervous and overwhelmed but very excited.
I am craving the feeling of grabbing a jar of coconut oil, lighting a candle, playing some tunes, and just making someone feel GOOD! I think focus on someone else is just so much fun and Iβve felt so stressed lately with life that my need to GIVE to recover has been strong. Iβm not sure why itβs therapeutic, but it is! I think a spa day is exactly whatβs in order. We relax, enjoy soft music and nice scents, and take the time to pamper ourselves this weekend. Feel free to check out my profile history. Sex does NOT have to be on the table, and honestly Iβd like someone that is open to me giving massages semi regularly (monthly or twice a month). It depends on how much we both enjoy it, and each otherβs company of course, but I think it would be a sweet and gentle way to recharge.
I am PCSING from Alaska to DC area. My household goods are being picked up tomorrow. Not a lot of stuff at ALL me and the wifey live pretty small.
This is my first PCS so typically how long does household goods take to arrive at my next home? Thanks yβall.
Anything helps.
Currently as of September 2017 is Fort Richardson worth making an effort to go after attending airborne school? I have heard that they are downsizing massively and that a lot of people are bine sent to Bragg. On the other hand however I heard that new barracks were just built and that they are trying to built their forces back up.
Plus that unit has access to mountain/arctic warfare schools.
I am just researching some options for my next PCS move. And yes I do understand that winters suck but I already from the north so I am used to the cold.
EDIT I forgot to mention but I am a medic. And being in a MEDCOM unit right now I should have preference into a FORSCOM unit, hopefully.
Anyone know whats going on with on the with 4/25? Last I heard they were downsizing massively and now they are sending a ton of people there( well my idea of a ton= everyone in OT at swcc ).
Met a few guys headed to Wainwright, none to Richardson. Anyone else headed that way?
Iβve lived in Dallas for about 6 months now and Iβm definitely struggling to find places around Dallas that I absolutely love. Iβm from the west coast (WA) and itβs very different here. I visited Austin and loved it, but I find Dallas a littleβ¦. drab, and corporate. I went to Bishop arts district and loved it there, and parts of downtown are nice but thatβs about it. I really want to love it here but so far Iβm kinda meh. Not trying to insult the area, the food is definitely bomb and I like the skyline of the city. The museums are also great, but that only does so much.
I live near Richardson in an absolutely terrible neighborhood, lots of crime. I didnβt realize it would be that bad when I moved here since I came from out of state. That probably doesnβt help my perception of it. I think in general I just donβt like north Dallas. Itβs just tall, brown buildings and strip malls. People rave about Plano and Frisco and I donβt understand why, itβs far away from everything and just suburbia with big houses. More strip malls. Big roads. Blah.
Anyone else ever feel this way or anyone have something around here that they love?

I feel like there's some kind of running joke within the military that if you fuck up they'll send your ass up to Alaska or something like that. Well that's exactly what happened to Air Force Lieutenant General Nathan F. Twining just one week after he sent the "Twining Memo" to Brigadier General George Schulgen on September 23, 1947. The memo declared that flying discs were "something real and not visionary or fictitious". It is probably the most important official document from a high ranking military leader when it comes to addressing the UFO phenomena
After sending that memo on September 23rd, he was officially transferred to Ft. Richardson in Anchorage Alaska on October 1st, just one week later. He went from being the Commanding General of the Air Materiel Command at Wright Field, Ohio, to Base Commander at Fort Richardson Commander of the Alaskan Command at Fort Richardson Anchorage for three years! This transfer was a huge demotion and punishment for someone with his reputation and rank (seriously read his bio) and I don't think many people people talk about the aftermath of that memo.
I've heard many stories about military folks having their careers ruined because they spoke up on UFO's, I just had no idea that General Twining was also someone who made that sacrifice.

Edit: i mis-read his bio, he was not just a base commander, but commander of Alaskan command out of Fort Richardson. Either way, it seems like punishment that was proportional to his rank and stature within the air force. At that point in his very epic career he was headed for Washington D.C., which is where he ultimately ended up as President Eisenhower 's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I personally think the three year stint in Anchorage was a derailment in his career trajectory. Yes it wasn't an official demotion, and yes Alaska was a strategic territory at the time, but the timing and context of this transfer is what makes the whole thing sketchy. Just 5 days after he issues the bombshell memo to his superior in the Air Force.
Let's also not forget as Commander of Materiel Command at Wright Field he was directly involved in the events of Roswell just a few months before. [He was already at Kirtland Air Base i
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm moving to DFW with my boyfriend in three weeks. Iβm from a small island in Hawaiβi and moving to a big city is quite intimidating. I donβt know what to expect so I have a few questions about the area, such as:
which specific areas should we avoid at night? We love having a night life but want to be aware of places that are sketch when the sun goes down. Also, what are some cool places to check out?? Both day and night.
what type of crimes frequently take place throughout major areas?
is racism uncommon here? Iβm asian and have only lived in a state where asians are one of the major racial groups, so itβll be a big contrast to me.
which freeways are the most dangerous? Iβve heard Dallas has dangerous drivers & roads so we would like to have a heads-up.
Weβre moving to Richardson so specific info about that area would also be appreciated.
Iβm in grad school and live a super quiet life, just signed another year-long lease so I do have stable housing. I want to give an old baby a good home until they get to the rainbow bridge, but everyone keeps having some rule about being 21. I donβt get it.
I know Craigslist has quite a few kittens but Iβm not in the market for someone who needs the kind of supervision/attention that a baby animal requires, and I know many people like to take the younger animals at the shelters leaving the older ones to hope someone comes another day. I see shelters trying to push the older ones with βVIP feesβ or waived ones all the time so I know they know those elderly cat friends need good loving homes!
Are there any places that the age is 18-20 to adopt? I have a steady job so could certainly afford the care, but itβs like theyβre so fixated on how old I am and not the fact I would love to give a senior a loving home. Any recommendations out to Fort Worth work for me, Iβd drive! Located in Richardson. Thanks yβall!
ETA: Iβm 20 if that wasnβt clear!
ETA2: Dallas Cat Lady is great but they only adopt to people 25+! Most of the SPCAs are 21+ too.
