Sort of a general topic, but there are lots of stories to choose from. The topic of anomalous rains- things like frogs, fish, dead birds and flesh and fur.
And the more specific story and fact fact that this topic fascinated Charles Fort who collected stories about this and other strange, dark and mysterious phenomenon (including black helicopters that have been spotted since 1938 what)
Someone that is worth looking into in relation to the Tartaria mystery is an excellent researcher and author of the early 20th century, Charles Fort.
He published several books in which he compiled reports from scientific journals and newspapers which recorded strange events that did not fit into our conventional explanations of how the world works. Among these were a large number of reports that described mud literally falling from the sky in the late 19th century and very early 20th century. It appears that he considered 1902 a significant year where strange "cataclysmic" events of global significance occurred.
I've read a little bit of Charles Fort myself, but I've recently ordered his complete collection. I plan to present a compilation of these "mud rain" reports, along with anything else that seems relevant, here for you guys to peruse. Just wanted to pass on the word in case any of you want to do some research yourselves.
Chapter 22, Page 190 in Fort's Lo! It's a strange quote in context.
When my co-podcaster, who is watching Gravity Falls for the first time, brings up Charles Fort in an episode I'm editing.
And it suddenly dawns on me that Charles Fort is probably who Ford Pines is based on. Especially since there's a joke in the unaired pilot that refers to Fort's book "The Book of the Damned."
Does anyone know if Alex Hirsch based Ford's character on Charles Fort?
