Reasons for picking Jamal Reynolds- A member of the FSU Football Hall of Fame, Reynolds was among the biggest contributors to several elite Florida State defenses. He would become a household name in 1999 after sacking Virginia Tech’s star QB Michael Vick 3 times in the Sugar Bowl. As a senior in 2000, he had a monstrous season, finishing with 12 sacks and 58 tackles, while being named First-team All-ACC and winning the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in the nation. Upon graduating from Florida State, he was ranked 4th all-time in sacks (23.5). He was selected 10th overall by the Packers, who traded their #17 pick and young backup QB, Matt Hasselback to the Seahawks for the #10 selection.

In Green Bay, however, Reynolds found himself falling behind on the depth chart almost immediately. He suffered a knee injury that forced him to much most of training camp, and he would lose the starting defensive end spot to Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, a 5th-round draft pick from the year before. As a result, Reynolds would not be activated until Week 10 of 2001, and finished his rookie season with 2 sacks, 4 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in the 2002 offseason, but struggled to get on the field at all. Between Gbaja-Biamila’s emergence as a reliable starter and inconsistent play and lingering effects from Reynolds’s knee injury, Reynolds was inactive for a number of games and finished 2002 with just 1 sack and 8 tackles in 7 games played. 2003 saw Reynolds appear in just 5 games (he would never get a single start in his 3 seasons with the Packers) and Green Bay traded him to the Colts in July 2004. However, the trade was voided after Reynolds failed the Colts physical. The Packers then released Reynolds, who signed with the Browns, but was cut before the start of the 2004 season and would not play in the NFL again.
