A list of puns related to "Fact Finding"
With the recent confirmation of a split power mode (the oft-requested "Snow Mode") I set out to benchmark the traction control performance and regeneration curve of my car under slippery conditions. Where I live has recently experienced a freezing rain followed by 10+ cm of snowfall and a cold snap in the -20Β°C range, leading to some of the most slippery driving conditions imaginable short of driving on actual ice. I tested my car last night at -13Β°C ambient on a particular side road that hasn't seen much sanding or grading, leading to a mostly hard-packed snow surface with occasional bare ice exposed. Even though I have nice Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 winter tires on my car, accelerating at full power under these conditions is definitely a handful, requiring adept corrective steering just to remain pointing straight.
As a baseline measurement, here's a plot of my 2018 Model 3 AWD w/Acceleration Boost under ideal dry roads & warm battery conditions. All my data is captured from the car's CAN bus using Scan My Tesla and is generally sampled at 100 Hz and accurate to 0.01 seconds or better except for wheel RPM counters which update at approximately 10 Hz (every 0.1 seconds). My car will reach 60 km/h 2.52 seconds after the accelerator is first pressed, 60 mph after 4.09 seconds and 100 km/h after 4.27 seconds. Owing to the car's speedometer being tied to some combination of the smoothed data from the position sensors within the motors, there's about a 0.28 second delay between the first recorded change in accelerator pedal position and the first recorded increase in speed. This delay would be somewhat akin to true reaction time and would not normally be measurable or incorporated in a drag strip time or dragy run.
Testing my car in the standard Sport setting and Normal regen produced the following plot. Under the slippery road conditions, 60 km/h was achieved in 6.80 seconds, and 100 km/h was not safely possible. I allowed my car to reach a peak of about 77 km/h as indicated on the speedometer, then completely let off the accelerator pedal and let the car use only regen braking to come to a stop. Aside from an occasional patch of ice and t

This initial rear bias is claimed to cause poor control on snowy or icy roads as the initial power surge or regen braking is enough to break traction on the rear wheels and cause the back end to slide out. People try to mitigate this by switching to Chill mode and setting Regen to Low where possible on older cars, but one of the oft-requested features for AWD cars is a "Snow Mode" for snowy weather that permanently splits power and regen equally between front and rear motors to maintain maximum control of the car. I believe this mode already exists in current firmware (I'm on 2021.44.5), though it doesn't have a user-accessible toggle.
Yesterday while on a road trip I encountered a section of blowing snow on the highway just before one of the planned supercharger stops. My car had been preconditioning the battery for most of the leg beforehand and I was used to the front motor whine that that produces, however after completing the charge and setting off again I continued to hear front motor whine at low speeds without another supercharger stop planned, which is atypical except for when battery heating occurs. It was presently snowing and the ground at the supercharger site was covered in fresh snow whereas previously the highway had been snow-free. Thanks mostly to winter tires, control of the car on the snow was excellent (as expected). I looked at the Scan My Tesla data I'd been capturing during the trip and noticed that the car was now splitting all power/regen equally between front and rear motors.
As I merged back onto the highway the power continued to be split 50/50 even at cruising speed and while on TACC for about 7 more minutes, then it gradually shifted back to rear bias and stayed 100% rear biased afterward. Here's a plot of the cleanest portion starting at the last traffic light before merging back onto the highway and showing the transition from 50/50 back to 100% rear bias: https://i.imgur.com/j5dZiZ2.png
Looking back prior to reaching the supercharger stop I see a section where my travel speed was reduced by slower moving cars and this corresponded to when I'd fir

Is there a source of information that both sides can agree is a reliable source? I thought it was the CDC, but then when they came out with the 5 day quarantine change everybody on Reddit seemed to reject it? Seems like people can't agree on sources so sometimes I will draw from my personal experience and people say I'm a liar or conspiracy theorist? I don't even have a strong opinion on the subject. How can I? As stated I don't know what is a reliable source of information. I came to this sub hoping to find information and reliable sources and sharing of information between people but instead I experience people that just want to be in verbal conflict. Maybe if we can all get on the same page about who is actually a trusted source we can have real dialogue? I want to exchange facts and opinions and be educated by redditors, not attacked for my ignorance or personal experience. Does a reliable source on covid exist and what is it?
The phrase "cold weather improvements" has become somewhat of a running gag around here ever since it appeared in 2021.4.12 and continued showing up in 2021.4.x release notes well into June/July. If you don't know what it entailed, the biggest change was observed starting in 2021.4.11 as increased regen in cold weather. Compared to the cold weather data I'd collected on 2020.x firmware at the start of last winter, the changes in 2021.4.11 resulted in about 50% more regen at any given temperature & SoC, and a reduction in battery temperature required for peak regen by as much as 6Β°C. This combined with the battery heating cutoffs at the time meant that preconditioning your cold car simply by charging it would be enough to net you at least half regen at around 80% SoC, while preconditioning the cabin for an (albeit ample) amount of time all but guaranteed full regen was available at the start of your drive during even the coldest winter day. Glorious times were bestowed upon all winter owners.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and the cold temperatures are starting to creep in at nights again. I'd started to notice the seasonal pattern of the regen bar showing dots again at the beginning of drives despite my usual charging to 80% and preconditioning habits. A new feature in the upcoming 2021.40 release notes caught my eye:
> Cold Weather Improvements > > You can now enable front defrost and maintain your climate settings when clearing ice and snow. As usual, tap the fan icon and select Keep Climate On when parked. > > **Additionally, when using climate controls on the Tesla App, automatic battery pre-con

Anticipating a Stage 3 diagnosis, but unsure at this point as he has yet to meet with the doctor. Doing what I can to help my wife and I keep our centers, and get a gauge of what to expect without falling through the Google rabbit hole. Any insight in terms of this node ratio, and what that can indicate in terms of severity?

Iβm trying to remember the title of a story that Iβve read a few years ago.
From its style, I think it was published in the 50s or 60s. The story started on Earth where a young government official was trying to find information about a mysterious off-world colony. Failing to find enough info, he decided to travel to colony despite the objection of his superior.
Upon his arrival to the colony he meets a friendly girl who offered to help him in his mission by showing him the city, its people & introducing him to her family.
Afterward, the story took a weird turn when the official catches the girl having sex with her own father.
That incest twist made me think it could be a Robert A. Heinlein story. Perhaps one of his Lazarus Long stories, however that turned out not to be the case.
Edit: Thanks to user/BrokenRifle17 for finding the story. Turned out it was a 1967 short story by Theodore Sturgeon with a long freaking title of 'If All Men Were Brothers, Would You Let One Marry Your Sister?'. The story was first published in Harlan Ellison's anthology book 'Dangerous Visions'
When you realize a relationship ended but that the motives were not honest what have some of you done?
I'll be clearer : We broke up 3 months ago, but I realize there is a huge amount of evidence that she was already talking to someone new and may have been seeing/talking to him before we broke up officially.
He was orbiting her social media, liking all her pictures and posts for the past year or so.
Very quickly after the breakup it seems she was already spending time with him doing activities and then a few weeks later I realized her car was parked in his driveway for several weekends consecutively leading me to believe that they are hanging out pretty seriously and she's sleeping over at his place on a regular basis.
After an almost 2 year relationship that had ups and downs, its still super hurtful to realize that an ex partner has basically just overlapped into a new relationship guilt free and basically just hid it from you during all this time.
The question I have for you guys is, I really want to send her a small polite message that says that I am aware that there was some kind of situation going on with this guy behind my back and that it is very hurtful, I also want to wish her well and basically I feel that sending this small note along with returning 2 of her belongings would be cathartic for me because at least it would set the record straight that I did care about her and that I feel betrayed, deceived and lied to.
Would some of you say this is something I will regret or is there a positive feeling to doing that?
I'm sure all Canoo believers/investors here know about this and are concerned about how this "fact-finding inquiry" has progressed since it was announced by the management in May. While I would say that we are all confident that this is ultimately a nothingburger, it has been considerable time, half a year, without any updates on the status at all. To me this is one of if not the final thing tying us back and linking us to the other questionable SPAC EVs. It hurt confidence in Canoo from investors and it would be great if Tony could give us an update during the ER on Monday, even better if the investigation has ended with no findings of wrongdoing.
Editted out the spy part, let's be nice to the poor guy assigned to stalk us here. Let's hope this somehow gets relayed to Tony!
