I had a nice weekend netting 17 trout. Mostly browns but some wild rainbows too. Fish are not massive so don't go in expecting some of the monsters you see here. Enjoy!
Hi all,
New to trout fishing and have been looking around for setup advice before I take the plunge. I'm going to Esopus Creek in the Catskills, NY to do some camping and hopefully catch some fish! Here is what I've put together on my research, anything else I should be considering? What would y'all recommend? Thanks in advance.
Rod: Ugly Stik Elite or Okuma Celilo - Both 5'6" ultralight
Reel: Penn Fierce II 2000, Pfluger President, or Abu Garcia pmaxsp10pro
Line: Berkley Vanish Fluro 4-6lb or Seaguar blue 4lb. Also see some recommending braid spool and fluro for leader.
Lure/Bait: Trout magnets and Panther Martin (best of the best)
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

There are lots of river tubing outfitters within a couple hours of Philly offering gentle floats down the Delaware and lower Lehigh rivers, but does anybody know of any whitewater tubing options?
Since I was a kid, I've tubed the Catskill's upper Esopus Creek enjoying its class II and sometimes class III rapids. The occasional scraped knee or flipped tube has always been part of the fun. Due to COVID, the Esopus creek's main tubing outfitter (Tinker) is closed for 2021, and the Esopus is a bit far for a day trip anyway.
Any comparable local options? We don't want to do rafting. FWIW, we have USCG vests and are experienced recreational kayakers.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
