Meade was fantastic on The Deuce, imbuing Lori with a toughness, sadness and intelligence you could understand from a simple glance. It was a tragic role ultimately, though also a full one. She got to play a full arc over the show's 3 seasons, was captivating throughout and became a standout by show's conclusion. All the while taking on a character who could not have been easy to play: a prostitute and sex worker in the 70s and 80s, with all the sexual situations and violent ones that meant in Lori's case.
Anyway, I'm a big David Simon fan who loved The Deuce and thought Emily Meade was great in it and deserved a bit of love. If there's any justice in Hollywood a great role will come her way soon.
**Fun fact for those not aware: her speaking up off-set during Season 2, asking for an 'advocate for sex scenes' like they have for stunt scenes, was the impetus for the hiring of Hollywood's first intimacy coordinator, now an industry standard.
Episode after episode, scene after scene, Meade gave a subtle, complex performance, portraying a character who shifts from vulnerable to strong and back again. I hope her amazing work gets the recognition she deserves.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

- I can’t make sense of who was in the bunker and why. Was that guy really Dinah’s son? How is that possible? Did he know she was a voodoo queen? Who brought the handsome blonde gay to the bunker? Didn’t we see him in a flashback?
- Why did Myrtle kill the robotics guys? Aren’t they running all the bunkers? Aren’t they necessary?
- WHO brought the two genetically selected people to the bunker and WHY? The robotics guys clearly didn’t.
- What was the cooperative’s plan for AFTER the nuclear winter? This is the worst plan! All the bunkers are overrun and running out of food?
- Where did all the cooperative security and secret agents go after bringing the teenagers to the bunker?
- Who was the short guy accompanying Michael who killed the horses? And where did they go?
Major issues with Billy Eichner, Evan Peters and Joan Collins playing two characters… there’s no way to discern different people from one character in disguise. Having Joan play two characters was especially confusing… I was like, you forgot to bring that witch back!!

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Now, keeping in mind that I'm only on season 6 of my rewatch now and I don't recall much of the series past season 8-ish, I feel like Emily's character was somewhat wasted. They introduced her as an agent who would bring SO much to the team (and she did! Plus, she's one of my favourites after Hotch) but then kinda went nowhere with it? Like the whole speaking how many languages thing - that was featured like 4 times?? And she's often used as the captain obvious character and the one who suggests a course of action/theory about an unsub and is then corrected by one of the male superiors (in SO many episodes).
I'm aware I might be simplifying and/or misremembering her character and again, I can't speak on the >!unit chief Emily!< timeline, but I feel she had so much more potential within the team than what she was utilized for.
