My heart broke a bit. I think a lot of post-partum women can relate. It’s not just weight gain. Your body goes through something akin to a savage beating. You pee when you laugh. You pee when you jog. Hell, sometimes you pee when you walk. Your abdomen caves in on itself. Your body SHAPE changes, sometimes permanently. Your nipples get itchy and sore and cracked. Your hair falls out. You feel like a milk supply machine. The hormones. I’m sure ladies can pipe in with their own unique experiences. Sometimes you feel unrecognizable to who you were before.

I’m a reporter with Bloomberg Government in Washington, D.C. covering Congress and campaigns. When a pandemic isn’t happening, I’m usually up on Capitol Hill talking to lawmakers and following both the main news of the day as well as wonkier details (I wasn't up there on Wednesday as I was in Georgia, but some of my friends and colleagues were.)
