At Baltimore Comic-Con Elliot S! Maggin signed my copy of this JLA issue. It is a fun meta-story in which ESM and Cary Bates travel from Earth Prime to interact with the JLA. He said the story was "silly", and said that they wrote the next issue in 1.5 hours in Cary Bates' apartment.

I love this quote in particular:

"I swear, it seemed no one but Cary Bates and I really wanted to write Superman stories. The character seemed passé, I think, even to people writing comics for a living. Denny (O’Neil) wrote Superman for more than a year before I showed up, and Len Wein did a bit too. But Denny just never much liked the character. He did some of the best work with the character I had ever seen, but he seemed to think it was just too unrealistic. He wanted grit. He wanted real life. So he decided he’d rather do stories about a bored, pissed-off billionaire who put on a costume and went around beating up bad guys every night. Realistic, he insisted. Go figure. It always seemed to me that a transplanted alien baby with super-powers was much more likely than that."

I bet Elliot’s headache from this episode is...

due to the AR/VR equipment that WR has strapped to him in the “real world”. He keeps grabbing the same spot on his head and I bet we’ll see that he has some diode placed there while WR has him sedated in the real universe.

The second part of this last episode is essentially WR showing Elliot what she showed Angela - a personalized and perfect alternate reality that COULD be Elliot’s future. Everything has been part of the simulation demo - Washington Township blowing up, WR killings herself, etc.

I need a game plan for Elliot’s return. This is directed to E/O fans.

So,

I, as most of you probably are, am excited, hopeful, anxious, scared and in disbelief. Mostly, not emotionally ready for any scenario and need support. :D

I was thinking, I need a game plan for what to do if:

-Elliot comes back married. -Elliot comes back divorced. -Elliot comes back and...they actually get together...

Can we have a place to go and discuss when these happen? Because twitter is intimidating and that seems to be where all Bensler fans hang out. (I’m old, don’t judge me) Like, is there a reason we don’t have a subreddit?

“The Other One” is behind most of Elliot’s story arc.

The theory running now is that masked Elliot, Sam Sepiol, Elliot Prime, whatever you want to call him, is the third personality — the strongest self.

I think this is built into the show’s very structure from the beginning.

Elliot has DID. He splits off into other versions of himself. Elliot has pain he cannot deal with. The strongest parts of him, “The Other”, formulate a plan.

Erases past traumas. Creates the Elliot we know from the pilot. Angela says “you were only born a month ago.” (It works on another level since it aired a month after the pilot.) She also acknowledges this change in 108 saying he’s been different recently, even before Shayla’s death. Sly clue Esmail.

The Other orchestrated that Elliot forgets Darlene. Forgets Edward. Numbs his pain with morphine so he can finally succeed. This personality then wakes up in Tyrell’s car and we still don’t know what Elliot’s other personality did on those 3 days.

This same masked personality also says “if you have any interest in recovering stolen or lost memory/waking up from your slumber”. It’s as if The Other personality showed the Elliot we know what was subconsciously planned all along by, well — himself.

Mr Robot is just there to guide the hack because The Other knows Elliot needs that support due to never coping with his father’s death. Mr Robot, the morphine, US as the audience — so many little management/coping tools put in place to make sure Stage 1/2/3 happened. Sometimes the narration is just a coping mechanism for Elliot to bounce off. Or, as someone mentioned here, it’s sometimes — The Other talking to Elliot.

If the journal is to be believed, the world will know who Elliot is. We’re about to see the personality Tyrell called “God” take control.
