A list of puns related to "Eia Standards"
I know this is probably a wiring sub, but I canβt post there and there seems to be less followers...looking for a good set of eyes!
Iβm looking for some help interpreting ANSI/TIA/EIA standards. - We have a contractor doing low voltage work in our buildings. They ran about 75 Cat6 cables and terminated both ends with modular plugs. On the MDF side, instead of terminating to RJ45 keystones or punching down to a patch panel, they terminated with modular plugs and used keystone couplers to create a βpatch panelβ. Iβve never seen cabling installed like that and wouldnβt do it myself because itβs another point of failure. The modular end could also easily be disconnected from the coupler on the βhorizontal cablingβ side. We specified to follow ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 standards. Is this acceptable? How does everyone else interpret the standards?
The cables arenβt even dressed nicely as well. Thereβs 48 coils of cables sitting behind the patch panel (well hanging 3-4RUs below) with the module end just plugged into the coupler.
It's hard to see, but all the white keystones are couplers...all the cables have modular ends crimped on and they plug into the couplers.

Hey I hope this post is allowed here. I can't figure out who I'm supposed to talk to or what the steps are for taking mental health leave. Has anyone gone through the process before? Could you tell me what steps I have to take?
For three months now I've been pretty much useless at work due to mental health and it's time to actually do something about it. Thanks in advance
EDIT: Thanks for the help everyone, the process is actually pretty simple, I was only looking for a 1 month leave which I was able to get by just going to a walk in clinic, describing my situation and given a note to give to my employer. If anyone else is in a similar situation just start by going to a walk in, or meeting with a family doctor if you can afford to wait.
First off: There is no such thing as "consumer grade" category 7 cable. No matter what you may see advertised, anything branded as "Category 7" is not actually Cat7 - it's most likely Cat5, or Cat6 at best. "Real" Cat7 cabling is insanely expensive, is only available from commercial suppliers, and the connectors won't work with consumer hardware.
Category 7 is not a TIA/EIA standard, nor is it intended for use with 8P8C (RJ45) connectors. It is specifically for use in data centers with specialized equipment.
Category 6a is rated for 10 Gbps to 100 meters; the next logical step up from this would be Category 8.1, at 40Gbps but limited to 36 meters or less - although even data centers typically use fiber for anything above 1Gbps.
Category 7 cable has individually shielded twisted pairs and is designed to be used with TERA or GG45 connectors, both of which bond the shielding of the cable to the body of the connector so as to ground the entire cable. TERA/GG45 connectors are not compatible with 8P8C connectors, and attempting to use Category 7 cable with 8P8C may result in signal degradation due to currents induced in the unbonded shielding. It's also a real pain in the arse to terminate due to that extra shielding
If you're concerned about future proofing, Cat6a should be sufficient. If you want especially clean lines, get shielded cable, although this is unlikely to be of any benefit for the vast majority of people.
Going to run some cable and want to know if cat 6A is worth the work. Is it really that much harder to run ? Thickness stiffness the issues I have read. The price is Nominally more expensive so that just isn't an issue. Do I need to upgrade all my jacks that are current Cat6 ? What about my equipment,do I have to upgrade any of that. Right now I have gig fiber with an ont mounted outside in the box with an ethernet cable coming out of it in to the house. Any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated. Lurked for a long time and found lots of helpful info. Thanks-
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
Or would that be too forward thinking?
