A list of puns related to "Edogawa, Tokyo"
Currently in the crunch for finding an apartment. If I'm being honest my main concern is bugs. Terrified of them. In particular roaches. I turn into a screaming little girl. (Like, I can deal with them outside of my home, but something about seeing a large bug in my living space and it being up to me to get rid of, eugh).
I'm a very clean person and am already set on an apartment above the ground floor. What is everyone's experience here? I was kinda leaning towards a washitsu, but I'm wondering what the bug situation would be like in a Japanese style room vs Western. Are older buildings generally worse news for roaches?
Any other anti-bug advice for picking a place would be so greatly appreciated.

Hello! After South Korea last week, we're back in Eastern Asia with a map featuring Edogawa, a neighbourhood within Tลkyล. You can see it labelled on the map as "Edogawa City". It's mostly residential, and pinpointing within it is a real challenge... good luck!
This is the first featured map by Juliana1234tokyo, and the first Japanese map since December 24.
There are still a few minutes left to compete in yesterday's French map... it was a fairly easy seed, with ten perfect scores recorded :o congrats to BarryFishyBear7, Closed247, exohugh, jackES62, MDspaceman, orpheuus57, plouky, urbanindianapolis, WaCoLoCh and Werdok!

Hello guys,
I am leaving my current job in March and looking for a replacement. I've worked in this company for 3 years and have a lot of positive experiences, but note that this IS NOT a full-time position.
Work is on Wednesday - Friday mornings as well as Saturdays till 4PM, it's all negotiable so great if you have school or some other gigs. Japanese assistants are always present and are very friendly, teaching materials are also provided. It's a small company, so the environment and the overall atmosphere is rather easy-going.
You'll be taking over group and private lessons for little children (1-5 years old), so having experience with kids or at least some patience would be a big plus.
Further details will be discussed during the interview.
Training provided.
[PT Compensation]
ยท 4,000 JPY per hour (negotiable based on qualification)
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
-Experience: teaching: 1 year for children( 0-3years )
-Native English speaker
Please contact me if you're interested or have any questions.
Anyone have any recommendations? I need to move in March and I have no savings for a deposit for an apartment nor can I really be fucked sorting it out at this point as I might be moving again in 6 months time.
I've looked on hituji but it seems their reviews are always "this place is fucking tranquil as fuck". Not fussy, but prefer to be along the chuo Sobu line i was thinking between shin-Kiba and nishi-funabashi.
Hopefully someone here has some good experience with a company or two.
Hello everyone,
I'm graduating soon and starting to work as a ๆฐๅ in Tokyo in April, and I am looking for decent places to move to as a couple.
I've been using Suumo to search for places to commute to Akihabara or Ochanomizu stations in under 30min, under 10ไธ yen, and 1LDK+ (around 30m2 would be enough). I've found some, but I don't know Tokyo very well so I wanted to ask the more experienced people here how some zones are for living.
Some of the seemingly best options I've found are around Mikawashima, Nippori, Minowa (Arakawa-ku?) and Iriya stations. Does anyone have any experience or advice on living around these places? Previous options I found were further east (for example in Edogawa-ku) but I read something about how it can be dangerous because of floods, which kind of scared me away.
I've done some searching in Japanese sites, but not sure how truthful they are (since it seems like some are related to ไธๅ็ฃ and might avoid saying bad things about an area?).
Also, I read that my rent should be under 1/3 of my salary (some sites recommend lower than that). My initial salary (before tax) will be around 29-30ไธใwill I be fine in a 10ไธ place?
I'd really appreciate it if someone can give me advice on any of these questions.
Edit: forgot to mention that my company also offers up to like 2ไธ bonus for living close to work, although I'm not exactly sure how it works
Whoever finds spelling errors or other mistakes will be thanked, just remember I'm posting this late at night. I don't take responsibility of any spoilers encountered on sites I linked. Wer das hier liest, ist toll.
Also, man, Das Finale 03 was great. What a great day today is.

##Synopsis
Shinichi Kudo (Kappei Yamaguchi) is a rising star in the press. Although still a high-schooler, he has already solved a bunch of crimes and made criminals confess on the scene, speeding up investigations considerably. He does this much to the chagrin of his childhood friend Ran Mouri (Wakana Yamazaki), who accompanies him out of a feeling of necessity, but is not a fan of dead bodies and fears Shinichi's investigative drive will eventually bite him back.
Her fears come true: Shinichi finds out too much. After solving a case during an amusement park not-date with Ran, Shinichi suddenly leaves her alone in order to spy on two suspicious men making a deal. He's so engrossed in the scene, he doesn't notice a third man, who proceeds to knock him KO with a pipe. Since simply shooting him would be too conspicuous, he's instead given a poison intended to kill him without a trace.
Only it doesn't kill him. It turns him into a child.
Shinichi is able to find refuge at his neighbour and old friend, the kinda genius inventor Dr. Hiroshi Agasa (Kenichi Ogata), but while the two try to figure out what to do from now on, Ran suddenly visits. Since he doesn't want Ran to get involved, Shinichi spontaneously invents a new identity for himself: Conan Edogawa (Minami Takayama), a distant relativ
... keep reading on reddit โกIn America, long commutes are not uncommon. There's even a name for them: "supercommutes" or "megacommutes". The jobs are in the cities but housing prices have skyrocketed over the past 20-30 years, pushing more and more people to outlying areas where housing is cheaper. A good example is Trenton, New Jersey to New York City every day (about 120 kilometers, 2 1/2-3 hours each way) are not uncommon.
I know Japan's situation with housing and public transportation isn't nearly as dire (and the steep tolls on highways force people to choose alternative transportation methods unlike in the US), but it's also not perfect. Ever since Shintaro Ishihara stopped the building of new low-income housing in Tokyo 20 years ago, supply has dried up. The housing developments in Edogawa-ku are now filled with old pensioners and temporary workers from India, and waitlists for vacant units can be many years in length. But I digress.
What is the worst commute you've heard of in Tokyo? Either because you were pushed out to the fringes due to the cost of housing, or for other reasons.
I would think that trying to get from the semi-rural fringes of Saitama (think Hanno, Hidaka, Sakado, Ogawa) to the 23-ku would suck, even with the Tobu-Fukutoshin through service. Pretty much that whole area is fucked for commuting unless you're driving to Kawagoe, Iruma or Omiya for work.
Also parts of Ibaraki have little to no commuter rail service. In Tsukuba you're fucked unless your work is on the TX line, and Kashima has no public transportation to speak of besides the little spur that connects to the JR Narita Line. In fact, two of the most popular highway bus routes are the Kashima-go with 88 daily roundtrips, and Tsukuba-go with 44 daily trips.
Other hellish commutes probably deal with chokepoints like the Saikyo Line, Tozai Line from Chiba, Denentoshi Line, Seibu Like @ Shakujikoen, or if you have to take the Chuo Rapid line all the way from Hachioji or Kokubunji or something. Or trying to get on a Keio Express at Meidaimae.
I have heard stories of people taking the Shinkansen from Gunma or Shizuoka all the way into Tokyo, but if you do that daily the commuter pass may cost upwards of 100,000 yen (~$870 US) per month.
Another one of these posts, but I am going to be moving Tokyo from from Tohoku region. I've never lived in Tokyo and I've only visited a handful of times so I'm not familiar with a lot of areas there.
My workplace will be in Chiyoda, by Yurakucho Station. Where I currently live, I'm quite close to the shopping malls and main station, yet still in a residential area. I usually ride my bicycle everywhere.
So, ideally I'd like a residential neighborhood that has supermarkets, (100 yen store or shopping areas is a bonus) within close vicinity, and be within ~30 minute commute via train from my workplace. For rent I'd be hoping for 7~8ไธๅ max (definitely on the cheaper side please), and I'm good with a 1K 23m2~30m2.
When I first visited Tokyo, I stayed in Nakano for 5 days and am biased towards that.. but I am wondering if there any other areas that could be of interest? I heard that Edogawa has cheap rent, but never been there..
Hi everyone. Hope you all are having a good day.
I am thinking of getting a driver's license. I am in Tokyo and I don't have a driver's license from my country and I don't have much experience.
I am working full time and I can speak Japanese fluently.
I am searching on how to get a driver's license lately. I am a little confused about it though.
I can't stay at the driver's license place for a week to get it like many do. I will have to go there after work. I live in Edogawa.
Any articles, ideas, advices or suggestions?
Thanks!
Kubota is a corporation that makes many, many industrial items, but one of their most well known products are tractors. I donโt know a lot about tractors, but Iโm sure there are a few qualities that tractor users prize. Qualities like reliability, durability, versatility, torque, uh, food harvesting ability. Tractors shouldnโt be sports cars, thatโs for sure.
What am I saying? Well, the Kubota Spears Funabashi Tokyo Bay are built like a tractor. In comparison to their more sleek and aerodynamic competition, these guys are all about solid forward play, doing the basics right in scrums and lineouts, and playing stout defense. They donโt have the sexiest roster out there, but the players all gel together nicely. The team has a fair number of veterans but they also have a decent amount of domestic talent that improved last season in leaps and bounds. They have a South African-ish forward pack and ANZAC backs, which probably conforms to rugby stereotypes of how teams should be built. Their most high profile player is a hooker, and yet theyโre incredibly effective. You can tell a lot of thought and strategy was used in the creating this roster, and itโs lovely to see the positive results come from it.
This team is also slightly different from other top teams in that they play their young players who just arrived from university rugby much more than the other top 5 teams. I donโt know if thatโs because of budget limitations, but once again they managed to turn a potential weakness into a strength. Teams like the Steelers or Wild Knights might only give one or two really young players significant minutes in a season, but Kubota had games last season where their back three were all 1st or 2nd year players. By my count 5 or 6 1st or 2nd year players earned significant playing time. And I think those players should continue to improve this season.
Last Season
Started off the season with five straight wins over lesser opponents by solid, respectable scores before suffering two close losses to the Sungoliath and Verblitz. The Verblitz loss was especially tough as they were winning right at the end before conceding a last-minute converted try.
In the playoffs, they easily won their first round match, then pulled off a bit of an upset as they got by the Steelers despite being down a man most of the game. But they just didnโt have enough versus the Sungoliath in the semis.
Rate their Stadium Situation: 3.5/10 (Current) 9/10 (Future?)

Canonically speaking, Heiji Hattori is from Osaka, Japan. With that said, I am asking with the Funimation (and maybe the Viz Media localization of the manga), where is Harley Hartwell from? In some episodes they say Oceanview and in others they say Alberta. Hypothetically in the Funimation dub canon, where is he from (assuming) Jimmy Kudo (Shinichi Kudou) is from Baker(โwherever that may be, US or England?), letโs say Baker is in the US. Does Harley live in another part of the US? Or does he live in Canada or Mexico? The continuity of the Funimation dub still haunts my dreams. Please clear the air.
Hey guys! So I'm tentatively planning a trip with some friends for early-mid April of 2023 (COVID permitting). I have my itinerary roughly planned out, but I'm just worried that I might have packed it too much and that some things may take longer or shorter to do than I realize.
Please let me know any suggestions!

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
