Pat Metheny Group (January 1978, ECM Records)

How do people here feel about this album? It’s really pushed me to go deeper into my love of guitar. Hearing things like San Lorenzo, the jam at the end of Jaco or the feistier parts of April Joy, great stuff. Playing like this makes me want to never stop searching!

Been digging Arve Henriksen. What are some similar artists? I love the way he plays his trumpet to where it makes a flute-like sound. I also love how atmospheric the music is. That organic ambient almost-experimental sound (which I think ECM Records are sort of arbiters of)

I kinda said it all above. But yeah been digging Arve Henriksen. I love the flute-like sound he does with the trumpet and I love the atmospheric soundscapes; I feel like that atmospheric ambient-ish almost-experimental sound is very in line with other ECM artists; although I’m not familiar enough with the catalogue to know where else to look. But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Haven’t heard nearly enough records in the ECM catalog and I’m looking for some recommendations. Here are some of my favorites in no particular order:

I feel like Edition Records have a lot of weirder experimental almost ECM-ish releases. Anyone super familiar with the catalog want to lead in my in the right direction?

I love all of the weirder, atmospheric, experimental jazz releases from ECM. I feel like Edition records shares a similar space. Can anyone familiar with the catalog point me in the right direction? Who should I check out?
