A list of puns related to "East River State Park"
Since there was interest when I checked last week, here's the actual event!
Map of the route, 18.5 miles. Should take about 2 hours at a moderate pace.
Meet in East River State Park at 145pm, we'll be rolling out by 2pm. I recommend bringing some water as it will be a hot day, but fortunately much of the ride will be near the Hudson River which will help with heat. We'll be rounding the Navy Yard, crossing Manhattan Bridge, then following the Hudson River up into Midtown. Then we'll cross the Queensboro Bridge into LIC, followed by Pulaski Bridge back to Brooklyn. There will also be a post ride beer at Brooklyn Brewing Company provided they have space for us to socially distance.
We'll be taking a fun, relaxed pace and will not drop any riders, expect it will take us about two hours for the full ride. Hope you can make it!
Edit: We're at the southern corner of park, next to 9th and Kent Edit2: Rolling out at 205 Edit 3: Headed south from Queensboro
Edit 4: we are in East River State Park, at picnic tables where Smorgasburg used to be

I spent so much time here I named my son River. Wife and I would often walk down the length on weekends and then get off in the East Village for some pastries. Spent many mornings with my dog there, first at the workout station by the track then throwing the ball in the fields. Understand why they need to raise & rebuild ... just bittersweet ...
Lost my wedding ring at White River E Snow Park on Mt. Hood. We were sledding on the hill off the parking lot, pretty close to the White River bridge. Its a gold ring with βHere amidst the chaosβ inscribed inside. I know this is a shot in the dark post. Itβs very sentimental, my wife and i made our rings together and the quote is from a song thatβs very important to us. Anyways, if you happen to find it and see this post, please reach out.
Has anyone tried to ride on the waterfront since construction began? The photos are ugly, but I canβt tell if itβs all totally closed or are there still parts available to ride through. Anyone know?
Ever since daylight savings, my commute home from financial district to Gramercy has been fully dark. Itβs only around 5:30-6:30 when Iβm biking, but Iβm a small woman on a citibike and I usually take the bike route that goes along the pier, through the park, and then cross over by stuytown or 23rd.
As itβs getting colder Iβm seeing very few other bikers/joggers, especially in the parts of the route that are terribly lit. While on one hand I think Iβm overreacting because itβs still pretty early in the evening, on the other, being virtually alone in poorly lit areas is setting alarm bells off in my head.
Am I overreacting, or should I stick to biking on main streets until itβs light out again?
For our fourth ride, the UWS Bike Club will be going to the East Side! This is an excellent opportunity to work up a sweat, and work off those extra Thanksgiving pounds.

This coming Thursday (2nd Dec) we will start on the South Side of Central Park, make a half-loop through the park driveway, then head north along the East Side Greenway by the Harlem River. We will finish near Dyckman Street, and most likely head for pizza at Fresco's (or potentially Cachapas y Mas for Venezuelan).
The ride is approximately 9 miles. It is mostly flat (yay!) and we are a friendly group, but nonetheless make sure you are of reasonable fitness. You can also join for part of the ride, if you prefer.
The route is Citibike friendly, and you can take the A train back downtown at 181 St subway. Important: if you are riding your own bike, please bring head and tail lights, as the route can be dark in places, and the bike path is narrow at certain points.
Meet at the Citibike stand, on the south side of the intersection of West 59th Street and 7th Avenue (40.7667555, -73.9790445) at 6:45pm, to start riding at 7pm sharp.
Any questions, please reach out - hope you can join!
