I am thinking about buying a used 14' Uhaul box truck to convert to full time living. I can pick the truck up for about 6k, and I am ok putting 10-15K into it for now. I would like to be able to take it up to the mountain for snowboarding and also be able to take it out to PNW BLM land. Does anyone have any experience with a 14' box truck in snowy/icy conditions and dirt roads? How limited will I be in where I can take it? How do the dualies in the rear effect the ride? Are there certain upgrades I can do to increase its capabilities, such as lift kits, 4WD conversion, bigger tires, or is this not feasible?
Recently bought a short skoolie E450. Have only driven it twice, both times over 200+ miles with the last 100 miles being at night (so headlights on). Everything is fine when RPMs are high but as I slow down or stop at a light it will stall out but can immediately be restarted. When driving, the instrument panel will start to fade until I cut the headlights or raise the RPMs. If I don’t cut the lights, it’ll stall out. Once I raise the RPMs, the instrument panel will light up again. Note that I only have the lights on while driving at night and no other accessories. Lights are off while driving during the day and runs fine.
This is what I’ve checked and done. Let me know if I’m missing something.
- Both batteries are 12.6v with the engine off
- Both batteries are 14.8v after 30 minutes idling with every accessory on
- Both batteries are 14.7v after 60 minutes idling with every accessory on
- Advanced Auto used their tester and confirmed both alternator and batteries are good
- Fuel filter/water separator were replaced 300 miles ago
- Cam Position Sensor has been replaced but not sure when

- ABS light is on but this was an issue before
- Has a Leece Neville 230amp alternator
- 7.3L with single alternator
I was talking to my dealer today about ordering a new E53 and was told that some of the newer ones might be coming with smaller 10" screens instead of the 12" ones due to the chip shortage. Has anyone heard of this?
Hey peeps! So girlfriend and I bought this beaut for you-know-what. Long story short, it’s gonna need a new engine and mechanic is quoting about $5800 for a new motor + labor. He usually gets his motors from salvaged cars and does any necessary repairs which I don’t know how to feel about. For context on what happened to the bus, I drove it from Columbus, GA to htx and when I was about 2 hours away, it starts blowing white smoke from the muffler and overheats after I turned on the back a/c. Just wondering if anyone has any good suggestions out there as to where I could find a reliable motor without breaking the bank too much without getting a random one from a salvaged vehicle?
Got a 2006 Ford E450 Ecoline Diesel engine short handicap bus with 107k miles that has a head gasket oil leak as well as transmission fluid leak problem. Anyone around the Cincinnati area know any good mechanics or a solution that won’t cost me thousands? Or am I just SCREWED?!!!
Hi, I have a 2000 jayco eagle remote start for generator was working fine. Then nothing. Replaced switch still no start.. switch does shut it down.. checked all fuse on gen and inside.. all breakers reset. Start switch does work on gen. Any ideals.. ty
I haven’t had a chance to test drive one. Working 6 days a week until late at night during weekdays have made trips to the dealership tough. Strongly considering an e class for my next vehicle but my dilemma is I don’t love the exterior styling of the sedan and I’m afraid the coupe may feel too cramped for me. I’m a 6’3 roughly 250lb wide shouldered guy.
Any larger guys have the coupe and can give some input? Thanks
I've been looking at getting '17 or '18 E43- mainly because the E300 seems underpowered (but the newer E450s may fit the bill as they have more power). But, I have concerns about how the suspension is tuned compared to the standard E-class models because I'll spend most of my driving wanting a cushy ride. Does anyone have experience with this? Is the comfort mode on the E43 comparable to the regular E-class in terms of overall ride quality? Thanks for your help!!
