A list of puns related to "Drawn Out"
I just finished a book I've looked forward to for several months (The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer Armentrout). I was under the impression that it was book 3 of a trilogy, because this author has written numerous series, most of which are trilogies, and Amazon has it listed as "Book 3 of 3". It turns out this is book 3 of 3 written so far, because there are going to be 6 books. I'm wondering if that was the original plan. I doubt it because while I do enjoy the books, the second 2 definitely have a fair amount of filler with unremarkable scenes and repeated, predictable interactions between characters. This book could easily lose 150 pages. This is not a new phenomenon. The other series that immediately come to mind are the Outlander series, in which each book gets less relevant as they go along, The Clan of the Cave Bear series, and quite possibly the Name of the Wind series (if it gets finished at all). I'm sure I'm forgetting others. It seems like once a book or author gets moderately popular the series start to get unnecessarily longer. I'm not saying that I don't like where the stories go, it's that they begin to take very circuitous routes to get there, where the middle 70% of the books are irrelevant to the story arcs as a whole. I'll still read them, to a point, but I do lose some respect for that author. Do they think readers don't notice? I guess it doesn't matter, because I'm sure they do make more money this way, but it does make me less likely to begin a new series by the same author.
The South African War comes to an end
To the surprise of everyone, OFN forces have declared a total victory over the German colonies. Thousands of German troops surrender enmasse to OFN troops. American airmobile forces managed to overwhelm German forces in a similiar fashion to the blitzkrieg from the Second World War.
Some German units have gone into hiding to continue a guerilla war, but after the swift and crushing defeat most German forces opted to surrender. Especially due to the fact that many important ammunition depots were quickly seized by American airborne troops, before they could be entirely destroyed.
It is unsure what the OFN will do with its newfound territory in Central Africa, as no post-war plans have been announced by the alliance. However, people seem to be focussing on the overwhelming victory for now.
Experts from around the world had expected the conflict to be drawn out for several years, with significantly more OFN losses. After its defeat in the Second World War, the American military had not been expected to perform as stellar as it did. The American public's faith in its armed forces have been restored in spectacular fashion, and all across the nation celebrations have errupted.
Large scale marches in support of Richard Nixon have also started to take place across the nation, declaring that the new hero of the United States is 'not a crook'. Support for Richard Nixon, and the Republican-Democrats party in general, is at an all time high. Even several NPP politicians have publically congratulated Richard Nixon for how he handled what some call one of the best wars America has ever fought, if not the best.
In Japan, high ranking military officers look at the United States with newfound concern. Tokyo apparantly went as far as to order the Imperial Japanese Army to research American airmobile tactics, and how to apply them to counter-insurgency operations in hotspots around the Co-Prosperity Sphere.
Around the world America, and the OFN, enjoys a newfound prestige. Ever since its crushing loss in the Second World War, the United States had been viewed as the weakest of the three superpowers. With the recent massive victory over the German colonies, that belief has mostly dissapeared. Instead a newfound respect, or fear in the case of the fascist world, has been found for the United States and its armed forces.
However, it remains to be seen if this almost perfect victory for was a one time fluke, or if America has
... keep reading on reddit β‘I had an interview with a recruiter (30 mins), then another interview with another senior recruiter (20 minutes of him reading my resume to me). The recruiters next might send me off to the company to be interviewed by their HR. Then I take a personality test. FINALLY I may get to interview with the company IT...
WTF do these people think? I can just quit my job to take multiple interviews over a week?
Get your IT manager to look at the paper with my credentials. Looks good? Talk to me once. Did I not drop the eff bomb? Did I laugh at your shitty jokes? Great. Hire me. See how it goes. You're not hiring a Director.
What the fuck is this process??
Been watching this show and I love it; but does anybody feel like this is getting drawn out? In terms of what the debris is and why homies boss hoarding pieces of it/ what the real intentions are for everyone? Starting to feel like a Fringe thing where theyβre just solving cases but it takes 4 seasons to really understand where itβs going
