A list of puns related to "Drama Club"
There was some interest in an audio drama book club in the state of the subreddit thread, so I thought we could give it a go. /u/Hitch42 mentioned that this has been tried before but eventually lost steam, so I'll try to keep it going at least until the summer (hopefully end of the year) to see if it gains traction.
My thought right now is that we'll vote on a show, then listen to the first episode and discuss it (as well as general non-spoiler discussions of the show in general). I was thinking of having an announcement thread for the show we are going to listen to posted on a Monday, and let people vote for the following show in that thread. Then that Friday post a discussion, then the next Monday another announcement/poll, etc.
Please vote for any show you want to us to listen to below, and feel free to make any suggestions!
It's Friday, so let's have our first audio drama book club discussion about Vast Horizon, episode 1. Spoiler free discussions about the rest of the series are appreciated as well, so if you've listened further feel free to post some general impressions of the show.
About Vast Horizon: A scientist wakes up alone on an empty colony ship where something seems to have gone horribly wrong. It has sound effects and is fully voiced (for example, there's an AI the scientist has discussions with, as well as flashbacks with more characters).
They have put Adler on consistently every year based on the posters we see from past productions and Juno being cast in the role her second year and we never see them putting on other plays
I've recently re read through the earlier chapters of the story again and specifically through the scenes involving the drama club and when Legoshi was still a part of it while still at Cherryton, and it stood out to me that itβs specifically brought up at one point why it is that he was sticking with being on the backstage crew as the spotlight operator. This is touched upon in the conversation he had with Kai in chapter 10 who more or less says heβs got a good profile and asks Legoshi if he had considered joining the acting team, to which the latter basically said βNo thanks it wasn't for me and never has beenβ and it appears to me beyond just his not being interested in general that he definitely saw and recognized for himself the immense pressure and stress that the others on the aforementioned team and Louis in particular as the star went through in productions and he didn't want to subject himself to that intensity with being constantly on stage, the thing is that at the time he was still in the phase of being so hung up about himself as a wolf and a carnivore and the negativity that entailed. As a result, he didn't want to be thrust into the spotlight in that manner as he didn't live for it (this very much applies to his keeping to himself and stuff early on in the series) thus why he decided not to and stuck with doing behind the scenes work. The only reason he ever did do it that one time as the third mook baddie in Adler was because Bill had to quickly take over the starring role for the performance in Louisβ place after his foot was injured during rehearsal while he had been the former up to then, and they literally had no other choice at the last second but to get someone else to play that small part. This of course was his first and only real step outside his comfort zone of the backstage crew. I mean, it's obvious that becoming a member on the acting team wasn't ever an interest of his to begin with, and truthfully i didn't see him as really being the theater/drama/thespian type which the other members of the actors (plus the dance team for that matter especially in regard to Juno and Sheila) live for as their main passion and jump into with gusto. I think that really says a lot about his mindset early on, and thus all of the bright lights and such that goes with the club and theater as a whole didnβt tickle his fancy to begin with.
Simply put, the rigors and commitments of being a theatrical on stage actor never appealed to him. There wasnβ

Do I have this right???
This Friday we'll have our first audio drama book club discussion on the first episode of Vast Horizon. Give it a listen, and then pop over on Friday for the discussion.

Also, initially I was thinking of having people vote for the podcast to listen to, but realized that their are some shows/genres I'm not a fan of and wouldn't be a good discussion leader for. So now I think it makes more sense for people to just post and lead their own discussion for any show they want. If you want to have it on a Friday, feel free to let me know (before my Tuesday announcement post) and I'll delay any Friday book club discussion I planned until the following week to avoid overcrowding.
Hello all. I work at a K-8 school, and was convinced by my admin to start a drama club. Iβm excited, but also nervous because Iβd only have one hour a week directly working with kids. I also have some kids who only want to do backstage work. Any suggestions on how to make this a success? Iβve helped with camps in the summer, but those were longer and each kid had a role onstage. Thanks in advance.
This might be a high concept but are there any podcasts that recap other audio dramas and talk about them. I would love to hear the opinions of other people listening to an audio drama and none of my fiends are into podcasts.
Interested in drama/acting for fun. Was wondering if Carleton had any courses or clubs related to acting or theatre? Thanks!
This is a weird one, wanna change it up. Enjoy :)
I was told to tell you this is a must-see for all drama enthusiasts.
I will say ahead of time, if I were to explain the whole drama from its beginning to its current state, it would be longer than all of the entitled parent posts on Reddit. Fortunately, the person on the constant receiving end of the drama had the foresight, or rather the habit, to link all the drama-related comments, posts, and replies together in one unified rabbit hole, which starts at the present state and leads back to the beginning.
Below is a link with various entries to the drama within the page, with the OP being a friend and the replies providing context. Remember each link unveils many more links, some of which not being on DeviantArt, so you must click until you reach the end.

TLDR (ghostwritten): One woman is socially/mentally awkward to an unbearable extreme and the other one is highly reactionary, doing what any rational person would do and organizing the whole forum of two hundred users in a 200-on-1 conflict against her (although up to ten at a time come to the first woman's aid), with slander seemingly coming out of nowhere (who is to know?) and all 200 people treating debating like it hasn't been invented yet (the only thing that happened before that was a miscommunication half a year earlier with a fanfiction of hers where she misinterpreted something mature in a suggestion of the awkward woman, which only could be perceived as adult because the reactionary woman was previously talking about adult stuff).
Every time it seems like it's about to end, something comes up; motives have gone from the first one's social awkwardness going to inappropriate albeit well-intentioned levels, to how many threads she posts a day as nothing else caught anyone's attention more at the time, to everyone repeating the reaction from phase one, and now someone is upset because the socially awkward woman signed up to a new website with a username that was identical to someone's on DeviantArt, as if, according to her, that person was entitled to it. Admins have been silent the whole time except to close threads that give shoutouts. The second woman's username is the same on both websites.
During phase two, on June 16th, the second woman lobbied for the first woman to be banned from the forums. She said "fine by me
