A list of puns related to "Dragutin Dimitrijeviฤ"
If so, how much did the Prime Minister, Nikola Pasic or other government officials know about the plot. Did they try and warn the Austrians?
Sidenote: I was reading the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which stated that he did order the assassination and that Pasic tried to warn the Austrians. I just wanted to know if the claims are true.
The First World War. World War I. The Seminal Tragedy. The Great War. The War to End All Wars.
In popular history narratives of the conflict with those names, it is not uncommon for writers or documentary-makers to utilise cliche metaphors or dramatic phrases to underscore the sheer scale, brutality, and impact of the fighting between 1914 - 1918. Indeed, it is perhaps the event which laid the foundations for the conflicts, revolutions, and transformations which characterised the โshort 20th centuryโ, to borrow a phrase from Eric Hobsbawm. It is no surprise then, that even before the Treaty of Versailles had been signed to formally end the war, people were asking a duo of questions which continues to generate debate to this day:
How did the war start? Why did it start?
Yet in attempting to answer those questions, postwar academics and politicians inevitably began to write with the mood of their times. In Weimar Germany, historians seeking to exonerate the previous German Empire for the blame that the Diktat von Versailles had supposedly attached to them were generously funded by the government and given unprecedented access to the archives; so long as their โfindingsโ showed that Germany was not to blame. In the fledgling Soviet Union, the revolutionary government made public any archival material which โrevealedโ the bellicose and aggressive decisions taken by the Tsarist government which collapsed during the war. In attempting to answer how the war had started, these writers were all haunted by the question which their theses, source selection, and areas of focus directly implied: who started it?
Ever since Fritz Fischerโs seminal work in the 1960s, the historiography on the origins of World War I have evolved ever further still, with practices and areas of focus constantly shifting as more primary sources are brought to light. This Monday Methods post will therefore identify and explain those shifts both in terms of methodological approaches to the question(s) and key โbattlegroundsโ, so to speak, when it comes to writing about the beginning of the First World War. Firstly however, are two sections with the bare-bones facts and figures we must be aware of when studying a historiographical landscape as vast and varied as this one.
#Key Dates
To even begin to understand the origins of the First World War, it is essential that we have a firm grasp of the key sequence of events which unfolded during the July Crisis in

Today, in my first post on notable social democratic figures, I will talk about Dimitrije Tucoviฤ - the Serbian socialist who stood up for Albanians, defied imperialism (both of foreign countries and his own) and fought gallantly and died for the freedom of his people in the First World War.
For those who do not have time to read the entire post: Please check out the Reaction to the First Balkan War section at the very least, as that's where I talk about his views the most!
Early Life
Dimitrije Tucoviฤ (di-MI-tri-ye TU-tso-vich) was born on 13 May 1881 in the village of Gostilje in present-day southwestern Serbia, near the Zlatibor mountain, to parents Jevrem and Jefimija, in a family of Montenegrin and Herzegovinian origin. He had five brothers and three sisters, with two of his brothers dying early.
In order to secure better schooling for his children, the family moved to the nearby city of Uลพice, where Dimitrije received a primary and secondary education. He was acquainted with socialist ideas very early on, from a three years older student in his gymnasium (high school) - Radovan Dragoviฤ, also a notable Serbian social democrat in the future - and started reading socialist authors, such as the banned books of Svetozar Markoviฤ, Vasa Pelagiฤ, Mita Ceniฤ, Nikolay Chernishevsky and others. Dimitrije Tucoviฤ's gymnasium became a breeding ground for socialist ideas as many of the school's professors were opponents of the authoritarian regime of Milan Obrenoviฤ and later Aleksandar Obrenoviฤ, the two Serbian kings. Dimitrije's father Jevrem, a priest, was unhappy that his son was becoming a socialist, but did not stop him in his tracks and later even came to be sympathetic himself.
Tucoviฤ, although he did not have good grades at school, became very involved in the student socialist movement and together with fellow students at his school became part of the student society Napredak (Progress) and wrote for such magazines as Socijaldemokrat (Social Democrat), Zanatlijski savez (Craftsman Alliance) and Zlatibor. Tucoviฤ also read foreign magazines such as Die Neue Zeit (The New Times), the German socialist magazine whose notable contributors were such people as Marx, Bernstein, Kautsky, Luxemburg, Engels and others. Tucoviฤ became one of the leaders of the student socialist movement and formed a link with the workers of Uลพice as well. The Napredak society was banned and the students' activities

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir presumptive to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and Franz Ferdinand's wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, occurred on 28 June 1914 in Sarajevo when they were mortally wounded by Gavrilo Princip. Princip was one of a group of six assassins also containing Muhamed Mehmedbaลกiฤ, Vaso ฤubriloviฤ, Nedeljko ฤabrinoviฤ, Cvjetko Popoviฤ and Trifun Grabeลพ (one Bosniak and five Serbs consecutively) coordinated by Danilo Iliฤ, a Bosnian Serb and a member of the Black Hand secret society. The political objective of the assassination was to break off Austria-Hungary's South Slav provinces so they could be combined into a Yugoslavia. The conspirators' motives were consistent with the movement that later became known as Young Bosnia. The assassination led directly to World War I when Austria-Hungary subsequently issued an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia, which was partially rejected. Austria-Hungary then declared war on Serbia, triggering actions leading to war between most European states.
The Serbian military conspiracy was organized by Chief of Serbian Military Intelligence Dragutin Dimitrijeviฤ with the assistance of Major Vojislav Tankosiฤ and spy Rade Malobabiฤ. Tankosiฤ armed the assassins with bombs and pistols and trained them. The assassins were given access to the same clandestine network of safe-houses and agents that Malobabiฤ used for the infiltration of weapons and operatives into Austria-Hungary.
The assassins, the key members of the clandestine network, and the key Serbian military conspirators who were still alive were arrested, tried, convicted and punished. Those who were arrested in Bosnia were tried in Sarajevo in October 1914. The other conspirators were arrested and tried before a Serbian court on the French-controlled Salonika Front in 1916โ1917 on unrelated false charges; Serbia executed three of the top military conspirators. Much of what is known about the assassinations comes from these two trials and related records.
While various countries of the former Yugoslavia largely view Gavrilo Princip as a terrorist, the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia continue to insist that Princip is a hero.
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
