Im going through the whole games/series for the first time, I've played DR1, DR2, watched a playthrough of Despair Girls and now I've watched all 3 arcs of The End of Hope's Peak High School. That was a fun watch, definitely worth despite some of the bullshit.
Despair arc
Things I liked

Chisa, she was a likeable main character, and a great example of what an inspired teacher can accomplish

Impostor, glad to see more of him and his story with Mitarai was cool, and the real Chiaki, that was a good believable interpretation of what a real person Chiaki would be like yet still very similar from what we saw in DR2

Junko's manipulation of Mitarai, Sakakura, Izuru Kamukura, and on some level her manipulation of the Reserve Course students, exploiting their resentment for the Main Course
Things I didnt like

The Despair video or more like the overuse of it, it would be fine as an explanation for the massive suicide of the Reserve Course and other things like that, but it ruins the twist of the DR2 characters having been Ultimate Despairs at some point, doesnt seem like anyone can resist the video so how are they the bad guys? Besides at least some of them seem fairly easy to manipulate, like Mikan and Teruteru, was it really necessary to have a video to make them fall into despair?

Hajime was pretty bland compared to who we met in DR2, give me back the sarcastic kid. I get that since it's a short series we cant get much from the rest of the DR2 cast but he needed to be done right. Izuru Kamukura was fine though imo, I liked his question in the end about which was more interesting in the end, Despair or Hope.

Mukuro, I was hoping for more of her after what we got in DR1, I know in DR1 she was imitating Junko but considering she is not the Ultimate Impostor/Actree/whatever I just cant imagine such a meek girl being able to pull out that performance.

Munakata, he made for a cool antagonist to Makoto since we can understand his perspective but we are also shown the flaws in his logic. One of my favorite bits was when Tengan throws him the question of whether Chisa was also a necessary sacrifice to end despair and Munakata gets mad, easier to sacrifice the ones other people love than your own.

I really liked how actually so many people who made The Tragedy possible were part of Future Fundation, guilt is a good motivation and it gives another reason how The Tragedy got as far as it did.

Hones
In high school I was very quiet. The only people I knew were my classmates. 2 of them were my friends. That’s it. I always felt a bit sad, but I did not know why.
At the beginning of this summer I finally realized. I discovered something. I have a profound need and desire to hang out with people. Or at least to see people. I need human interactions. I need a girlfriend. But I just don’t have that.
So my life is as follows. I rarely meet people. When I do, I actually don’t feel depressed. When I come home I usually cry, because I realize I don’t have the social life I desperately need. Weeks go by and I am tortured by a profound feeling of loneliness, until I can meet people again.
I need to build a network of friends. I started with the few people I know. Now, I see them once every 2 weeks, or something like that. That’s not enough. Not for me.
Close friends see each other often. Maybe not every single day. Surely more than 2 times a month. So either they feel I am not close enough as a friend (so I did something wrong) or they just don’t like to meet people. Dr. K, how can I deepen a friendship? Am I just boring?
Also, where can I meet new friends? How can I actually build a proper friendship? I don’t wanna be the guy you see every now and then. I wanna be a friend you hang out with regularly. Because I NEED that.
