A list of puns related to "Downstream Access"
So Iβll attach a quick diagram or the rough layout Iβm currently using.
https://i.imgur.com/hXs9Sm2.png
For context, my house is a single story ranch. Slab house with no basement. A 700 sqft addition was added on to the back of the house, so the wall separating the original house and the addition is βtechnicallyβ the original exterior wall. And I say this because that wall is where WiFi goes to die. If you place a router in the front of the house, the back is a dead zone, and vice versa.
So a while back I finally got around to installing a network switch in my closet and running hard lines to all the rooms and garage. Then up front I had a low end range extender (it did nothing lol) but I found a firmware patch to use it as an access point. So I set up a second access point in the front half for phones, tablets, and the wifeβs tv in her living room. The front living room is vaulted so thereβs no getting a hard line to it, so it has to live on WiFi. It does ok, phones and stuff are fine but her tv struggles.
At some point Iβll invest in a mesh network but thereβs way to many things on the list before I get there. But I ran into a smoking deal on a new router (Netgear Ax1800). Itβs nothing amazing but mountains better than my current 2nd access point and ISP router.
So now Iβm at a cross roads, do I replace my ISP router with the new netgear and use the ISP router as a second access point, or leave the ISP router and use the netgear as the second access point? For what itβs worth, the back half of the house is my theater room and everything is hard lined. So except for the wireless security cameras on the back of the house WIFI isnβt that important back here. WiFi is more of a priority up front. But Iβm just unsure which one to use as the main hub. Iβm thinking using the netgear as the main hub will give me overall better performance on my hard lines, but using it as a second access point will give the front of the house better WiFi.
unfortunately my internet (demarc) comes into my home through my bedroom wall in the back of the house making it difficult to center up my router and even harder to get a consistent signal on my Firestick in the garage on the opposite side of the house. With that in mind I have an old WD Mynet N750 router collecting dust in the closet. Is it possible to setup the old N750 in my bedroom either as a bridge or access point, and then ride a powerline adapter to the living room in the middle of the house where it would plug into my main router which would act as the DHCP? Mapping would be as follows:
Cat5 into house in bedroom > Mynet Router > Powerline adapter > Main router / DHCP
In a perfect world my house would be wired for Cat5 and I could avoid all this but instead from the sounds of things I have to resort to this. I know I'm going to lose speed from powerline adapters but until I get a cat5 line installed from the bedroom to the living room so be it. My main router is a nighthawk x4s which I would prefer be the primary.
Edit: Just learned of MOCA coax converters too but I'd have to drill back outside to tap into my houses closest coax line.
Long story short I pay for 7Mbps DSL but I live about 4km away from the exchange. I understand that I will never be able to achieve 7Mbps.
That said, when I look at the training history in my modem (link to screenshots below) it looks like they should at least be able to offer me 3Mbps. There is a line on the diagnostics page that says "Downstream rate cap: 1600kbps" which leads me to believe that my ISP has limited my connection to 1.5Mbps.
They refuse to address this (they basically talk to me like I'm crazy for even asking what that is) and tell me I have to switch back to using their provided modem (which I swapped out for one I bought for unrelated reasons - my speeds have been constant regardless of what modem I use). Conveniently their modem hides all the diagnostic information so there is no way for the customer to actually see what's going on with their connection, you just have to take the ISP's word for it. I think this is why they want me to switch back to their equipment to be honest.
BTW - my attenuation is really high, usually about 60db, but when I looked around a bunch of guides online said I should still be able to get ~3Mbps even with it that high.
I'm really at a loss here - my ISP sent someone to my house about 6 months ago to check the line and stuff and they said it's all fine, it's just that I'm at the end of the DSL loop. This is the only ISP in this area so I'm stuck with them, but if I can literally double my speed by having that rate cap removed I'll be happy. I just hate the idea that they're throttling my already terrible connection.
Any advice? Is there anything I can do from my end? Let me know if you need any additional info, I can post any screenshots from my modem diagnostics pages that might help.
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I complained on twitter and they fixed it. I've been calling off and on (more than a dozen calls) over the past 18 months or so about this and they did nothing. I publically shamed them on twitter and they fixed it right away. Happy because it's fixed, sad that customer service has reached this new low.
So I setup my rancher server using single-node docker installation. Everything was working well and Iβve created a new cluster using rancher and deployed my apps to the new cluster.
Unfortunately, the rancher server was deleted (vm) accidentally and I disabled authorized cluster endpoint during init of cluster so I canβt access it via kubectl.
The cluster is still up and running but I cannot manage it anymore. What are my options here?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Our team is currently investigating CVE-2021-44228, a critical vulnerability thatβs affecting a Java logging package log4j which is used in a significant amount of software, including Apache, Apple iCloud, Steam, Minecraft and others. Huntress is actively uncovering the effects of this vulnerability and will be frequently updating this page.
If your organization uses the log4j library, you should upgrade to log4j-2.1.50.rc2 immediately. Be sure that your Java instance is up-to-date; however, itβs worth noting that this isnβt an across-the-board solution. You may need to wait until your vendors push security updates out for their affected products.
The log4j package may be bundled in with software you use provided by any given vendor. In this scenario, unfortunately, the vendors themselves will need to push the security updates downstream. As you assess your own risk and threat model, please consider the components of the software you use and especially what may be publicly accessible.
Fellow MSP community member Tom Lawrence had confirmed and informed Huntress that the UniFi controller platform is vulnerable. If you use this technology, we urge you to upgrade to the patched version 6.5.54 as soon as possible.
Check out our blog for our latest findings.
log4j 2.17.0 is now out to remediate DoS CVE-2021-45105, which was present in 2.16.0. Check out the release details here: https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/changes-report.html#a2.17.0.
log4j 2.16.0 is out which now completely disables JNDI by default and removes support for Message Lookups. If at all possible, please upgrade any instance of log4j to this latest version.

The girls went (missing) on the Pianista trail during the hottest time of the year, the dry season.
So how possible is it to use the water channels on the north side of the trail as functional paths?
Imperfectplan suggested river 3 could have been traveled down, which is a likely reason the girls were able to suddenly disappear.
A person can walk down the river without being engulfed in vegetation
Another hiker went further north past the 1st cable bridge, and was getting lost all the time, getting bad directions from locals, so I guess you're able to use any path or stream you need as long as the vegetation or water levels aren't affecting your access.
http://www.wildxplor.com/?m=201804
Based on the emergency call chart, what I think is that it's very difficult to determine at what point the girls' emergency situation occurs, because I believe the day 1 afternoon calls were simply low urgency ones, not a real emergency.
It's possible that the girls likely fell off a cliff. The dutch investigators were keen on this theory.
If you look at this map:
Possible scenario
My personal guess is that the girls traveled beyond river 3 and eventually turned around and headed back, but they may have returned the wrong way, ending up on this path (which is actually a stream) that leads to a very steep cliff.
On day 1, they traveled along that path for some time, but didn't reach their destination in time. At 4:39PM they made some low urgency calls to emergency.
If you knew what was said over the phone, perhaps it was:
"We're a little lost"
"We've been traveling along this rocky path for quite some time and haven't reached anything"
"It's getting dark, we didn't expect to be spending the night on this trail"
They spent the night at that 4:39PM location.
What I'm concerned about though are the emergency calls that occurred the next morning, on day 2.
6:58AM
8:14AM
10:53AM
It's one thing to make a couple of low urgency calls on the afternoon of day 1. But on day 2 they had the entire day to recover from their state of being lost.
What would the purpose of calling emergency have been, on the morning of day 2?
Perhaps:
Girls: "We're a little lost"
Emergency: "Have you tried turning around and going back the way you came?"
To most people, turning around would

As Andrew Wesie explained on the wine-devel mailing list there is this conflict with %gs:0x60 where both League and glibc want to access this part of the segment register %gs. All of the workarounds had to deal with this root issue. You could tamper with %cs, patch glibc, etc. But with Wine 7.0 having WoW64 all (or at least a lot) of this downstream tinkering should be obsolete and it should be possible again to use upstream Wine or am I missing something?

The freedoms Britain granted the world are the most precious gift of all. We must preserve them
December 14, 2021
Of all the twists and turns that my life has taken over the last few years, one of the most truly upsetting and surreal was learning that I had been peremptorily disinvited from one of Britain's great universities.
In 2018, when I last travelled to Britain, I met with several Cambridge professors and began to discuss the possibility of arranging a seminar there, focusing on some key Biblical texts. A formal offer of a Visiting Fellowship was proffered to me in February 2019, facilitated by Dr Douglas Hedley, Professor of the Philosophy of Religion at Clare College, and arranged through the necessary actions on the part of Cambridge and the University of Toronto.
In the autumn of 2016, I had rented a 500-seat theater (on a whim, you might say) in Toronto, Canada, and delivered fifteen 90-minute public lectures entitled The Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories. Surprisingly, all the lectures attracted a sold-out house. Furthermore, the majority of the audience consisted of young men, a notoriously difficult audience to attract to such things. The initial lecture, Introduction to the Idea of God, focused on the first two sentences of the Book of Genesis. Those who came to watch and listen walked their way with me through the remainder of that great book during the remaining fourteen.
By the close of 2018, when initial arrangements were being made regarding my Fellowship, some four million people had watched the first lecture on YouTube, with a multitude more listening on my podcast. The series has now been viewed or watched forty million times. It has, in addition, attracted a widespread positive response from Christian Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox believers alike (even widespread positive critical response), as well as large swathes of the Orthodox Jewish and Islamic faithful. In a further unexpected twist, the lectures have also proved popular with those who regard themselves as explicitly atheistic.
I recount this only to explain why the initial invitation from Cambridge was proffered: it has proved increasingly difficult for those concerned about our traditional and religious heritage to propagate their message β their ideas β to the modern community, and the success of my venture generated some great curiosity.
Out of Egypt
After the success of the Genesis venture, I had the ambition to continue my inve

Blackstone minerals is a metals development company. It primarily explores for Nickel, Cobalt, Copper and Gold deposits as well as group elements.
It has 2 mains projects:
Β· Ta Khoa Project (90% ownership) β a Nickel-Copper PGE Project located in Hanoi which includes an existing modern Nickel mine currently under care and maintenance after successfully serving as a Nickel mine between 2013 to 2016. It is also conducting definitive feasibility analysis on the potential of expanding its downstream business to process Nickel Concentrate into the precursor for NCM used in EV batteries.
Β· Gold Bridge Project (100% Ownership) β located in Canada with potential of becoming a cobalt belt. Initial survey suggests there being many Copper-Gold-Cobalt target at the site.
Β· Ta-Khoa Project will rely on Nickel Concentrate feed from its upstream business as well as other stock suppliers like Trafigura.

1. Operating in a Growing Market
The company which is looking to produce the precursor to NCM 8:1:1 is well-positioned to capture the growing demand for cathodes with high Nickel content. This is because Nickel has been proven to increase battery life in EV vehicles, with expectations that the chemical ratio will soon shift from NCM 1:1:1 to NCM 8:1:1 or even NCM 9.5:1:1 (which is then mixed with lithium to create the cathode used in EV batteries). However, most producers stop at the concentrate level (the step before the precursor stage), offering BSX a first-mover advantage. BSX also operates in a favourable environment with a supportive government, access to low-cost renewable hydropower and low wages. Additionally, most major cathode producers currently have spare capacity or are looking to increase their production capacity.

Hi All, i just had a really weird thought and wanted to see if anyone knows if its even in the realm of possibility or if i should just go back to sleep.
given all cisco devices have a USB console port on them these days, i was wondering if it would be hypothetically possible to connect the console port on one device say a router, to another device say a switch, and if for whatever reason one of the devices lost network access due to either a boot failure or a really bad config mistake, we would have an avenue to remotely recover the device without an expensive console server in each remote site.... obviously this would only work for downstream failures (cant console a router from a switch if the upstream router is dead) but i figured there shouldnt be much reason hardware wise this couldnt work, but im guessing if there is a problem it would be a software one....
has anyone ever tried something like this? does/could it work?

Tellik Neptrel pressed a few more buttons and a faint hum permeated the air. He looked up from the console, and with his voice shaking slightly, he turned his attention to the RSF officers seated across from him. βWell, I believe weβre all set to talk privately. The message I received said that you wanted to clear something up, and had some questions to ask. How can I help?β
βRelax, Mister Neptrel, youβre not in any trouble. We really do just need some information to help clear up a case. Captain, before we begin, would you like to explain a little of whatβs going on? I donβt know how much youβre comfortable with him knowing.β
βI believe it would be best to simply say that certain evidence has marked you as what the humans call βa person of interestβ in our investigation, and we wish to know how that evidence has come to be there. The questions we are about to ask may seem personal or off topic, but I assure you that everything is connected.β
βEvidence? You donβt think I did something, do you? I havenβt! I come to work every day, I go home to my family. I occasionally take the kids out for a family dinner, but thatβs once a season at most.β

So, just to enter it into the record, you are a Falgin, forty seven cycles old, and currently an accounting supervisor for Talcna Pharmaceuticals. Is that correct?β
βThat is, though Iβll be forty eight soon. I donβt know if that changes anything.β Tellik sat in his chair, fidgeting as he spoke. The eyes ringing his head were unfocused while the large central eye looked like it was on the verge of crying.
Carter smiled before replying . βIt doesnβt change anything in our files, but happy birthday! Anyway, to get to the main topic. For a hairier species like yours, I would assume that proper care takes a lot of time, right? You would need to go for a trim fairly often?β

Iβve been meaning to give back to this community from which Iβve benefitted a lot since its founding, and decided to do a write-up on the modern EV Battery and Grid Storage sectors. I also wanted to do one for Magnis Energy Technologyβs projects (MNS) and where it strategically fits in this high growth but very complex sector, so I combined the two DDs into what you have here.
While I do hold MNS stocks, and I WILL address the current Murdoch media/Twitter/HC campaign against MNS, this post will first and foremost be to help understand the global EV Battery sector and related sub-industries/downstream markets.
Then using this as a framework, Iβll share my own DD on MNS, their projects/holdings, and whether it is a good or risky investment choice within the sector & in the current ASX/media climate. Anything I couldn't fit in 40k characters will go into a FAQ comment.
But tl;dr for those just wanting a quick answer, I am holding firm, with a SP target of ~$2.15 by June 2022 depending on MANY factors.
Batteries are a way of storing electrical energy that can be collected at any point in time, then discharged for consumption at any other point in time, and due to its relative technological maturity and long lifespan, the overwhelming majority of passenger electric vehicles (PEVs) made in commercial quantities today use Lithium-ion Batteries as their energy solution.
A modern Lithium-ion Battery (or LiB), co-invented in the 1970s by Nobel Laureates Professor M. Stanley Whittingham, John Goodenough, and Akira Yoshino, is made up of 5 key aspects: the Cathode, Anode, Electrolyte, Separator and a Cell form factor. The way these batteries discharges or recharges electrical energy is by transferring electrically charged atoms (the ions) between the cathode material and the anode material through the electrolyte medium. The lithium part of LiBs sits in the anode.
See diagram below for high level illustration.

Summary
The Dash DAO treasury, while revolutionary, is also highly inefficient and at times ineffective. This is the result of an immature treasury proposal process that needs improvement. There are 3 additional steps that must be added to the treasury proposal process to improve its functionality. The first step is structured sense making around problems that need addressing. The second step is expert think-tanks conducting research and crafting recommendations. The third step is the incentivization of talent acquisition. With these relatively straight forward improvements the networkβs treasury proposal system will become much more coherent, efficient, and powerful.
Intro
First off, Dash has a lot of things that makes it a compelling project. The elegance of the hybrid network solution to solve problems other blockchains are still struggling with keeps me interested. The other thing that keeps me here is the DAO treasury system. It is revolutionary and has the potential to change how so many organizations around the world operate.
There are current strengths of the DAO treasury system and also many weaknesses. If we hope to elevate the network, we need to address these weaknesses.
DAO Treasury Strengths
The strength of the DAO is that it makes the Dash project very difficult to kill off. This means despite how many bridges get burned, community leaders get black-bagged, and funds gets wasted the DAO treasury will continue to chug along. The resilience of the DAO system is far and away its strongest feature. Additional compelling elements of the DAO treasury is that participation is pseudoanonymous and accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world provided they can afford the proposal fee or a MasterNode.
The affordability of these two gatekeeping attributes (proposal fees and Masternodes) are often brought discussed. We ran a successful campaign earlier this year to make the proposal fee relatively more reasonable by lowering it to 1 Dash. There is endless debate about making MasterNodes more affordable. I have my opinions on that, but I think the theoretical impact on the quality of the governance system is way overstated, so I will say no more on that here.
As the oldest operation DAO, the network has learned a lot through trial and error. In this way certain norms have formed that have helped guide the behavior of MasterNode Operators and Proposal Owners. One seemingly small but actually foundational example of this is viewing funded

Using heat or chemical reactions to break down complex proteins is the basis of our ability to gain maximum benefit from minimal resources. It is the reason humans evolved to be the dominant species on Earth. We utilised tools like stone knives and fire to extract the maximum caloric return from our labour.
