I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I genuinely don’t think Dave sees us as subhuman or less than, which is usually my metric for anyone. It’s less about what’s said and more about the intent. While that’s hard to know and impossible in some situations, if I meet it with humor and a benefit of the doubt it usually works out for the best. Kinda how I approached watching The Closer.

Chapelle is an equal opportunity offender and if I laugh along while he drags other people, I have to be able to laugh along while he drags me, in fairness.
Ofc a few of his jokes were hard to hear, but you just cringe and laugh a little and shake it off and wait for the next joke.
For instance, when he was talking about passing out cash tips and killing thousands with covid, what if you lost somebody to covid, then heard that joke? It wouldn’t be funny I imagine. It would be hard to hear. I’m not saying it’s the same but it does overlap a little. Point is everyone is gonna have one of his jokes kick them in the gut.
By now we should know what we are in for if we seek out his content. Speaking of which, getting quotes out of context without watching doesn’t give you enough to work with, and def not enough to condemn the man.
He wasn’t ashamed to call Daphne his friend. He didn’t see her as less than human. That’s the difference between his jokes and your run of the mill transphobic shit you encounter on the street.
Also worth saying, the Twitter mob is, like Dave said, not the real world. What the average person thinks of trans people is usually based off a small obnoxious subset of people and not how most of us act. We just want to live our lives. I took my 2018 Pacifica Touring L to the shop for my annual State vehicle safety inspection this week. My mechanic told me that there is an oil leak and the van would not pass inspection. My van only has 26K miles, so I was surprised. I did notice a slight oil smell the day before I brought my van in for inspection, so this leak could not have been going on for long. A quick Google search led me to a seemingly common issue with these Pentastar V6 engines, a leaking engine oil cooler/filter housing. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=pentastar+v6+oil+leak. My oil was low by about half a quart when I checked it. This issue has been reported on Dodge Chargers, Rams, Caravans, Chrysler 300, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar V6.
This is a molded plastic piece that resides in the valley of the engine, beneath your air intake manifold. There are oil temp and oil pressure sensors attached to the part, along with an aluminum oil cooler. Apparently this part is prone to cracking at certain points, or leaking from the rubber O-rings at the bottom that seal the assembly to the engine block. Part of the issue is that a significant amount of oil can accumulate in the valley of the engine before it starts to drip, usually toward the transmission, so these leaks aren't always caught right away. A quick call to the local Chrysler dealer confirmed that replacing this part should be completely covered under the 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty. So I'm scheduled for service this Friday. Till then, I'm checking my oil level daily and making sure the engine oil is topped off. Many folks reporting this oil leak have significantly more miles on their Pentastar engines, but my vehicle is 4 years old.

In his special, Dave Chappelle has spread the baseless but calculated accusations against trans people for bullying Daphne Dorman to death. Now in a twisted sense of justice, concern troll subs are rallying in the name of Daphne Dorman over fake concern.
The truth is no one can say that trans people bullied Daphne to death. She had always suffered chronic depression for a long time.
There are 2 layers of conspiracy theory at work here
- that trans people are boycotting dave chappelle for supposedly being a "truther" here when in actuality the lgbt community has been critical of dave chappelle even before the death of daphne dorman, for his long running obsessions over lgbt community, that predates her death.
- that trans people bullied daphne to death
also, this is actually a calculated smear campaign on Dave's part simply because
- he did not mention that Daphne lost custody of her child before her suicide, either Dave purposely omitted that or he didn't know.
- according to Daphne's roommate, he was invited to at least 3 different memorials and went to none of them, and then held a separate memorial where no one from her circle was invited.
- Daphne's tweet defending Dave apparently has less than 10 replies, and most/all of them are positive.
Pursuing these avenues means that you're just a biased person with severe prejudice against trans people.

Hey folks, so I’m a long time Prius owner and I’m converting my friend. We’re looking at a 2006 Prius that has a new hybrid battery (it’s Orange or red so it’s certainly not the original) installed last year. The person who’s selling it is not the person who replaced the battery and doesn’t have the receipts or paperwork. The battery is said to be $1200 Dorman hybrid battery. Is this a decent battery? I don’t know if the battery was bought new, refurbished, used or what. Is this risky? The car is $5000 which seems great. Should I be worried that the seller doesn’t have more info about the new battery?
