A list of puns related to "Dodge Dakota"
1997 dodge Dakota sport 5.2l 4x4 a/t no start
I have a 97 dodge that had no spark and wasnβt starting fixed the no spark it was the pick up coil a rat chewed the wire replaced the distributor cap and rotor while I did that. Before that it would only turn over and not catch now it sounds like it wants to catch and fire but seems to need a extra push to fully start. 126k miles on it I hear the fuel pump turning on has a quarter of a tank and have had it on a trickle charger because it sits for weeks sometimes. Checked the battery on tester and it said it was good. hereβs a video of how it sounds https://youtube.com/shorts/7pB2UBFzcr4?feature=share
Live in MN with sub-zero temps.. The truck has been nothing but great; starting instantaneous and going throughout everything Iβve thrown at her. Recently, I parked her at my friends house and would not start; would crank, but not even ignite gas. Check under carb and gas was in (have recently installed new fuel pump), loosen a spark plug and saw sparks. Still changed the plugs and wires cause I was advised by the previous owner. Worked and got her running again. But it when slowing down or completely stopping it would come very close to stalling then jump back to normal sounds.. Previous owner advised I change the Distributor Cap and Rotor so I did that and sounds better; but now acceleration is worse that ever and budge over 40mpg without feeling like I was flooding the engine.. Any suggestions or pointers?
I have been looking at buying a 2008 Dodge Dakota SLT Crew Cab. Im not sure of the known mechanical issues that are common with the vehicle. It has 119k miles and the dealer wants $9,500 for it. Im going to test drive it Saturday. vehicle listing
Thanks in advance
I'm hoping you guys can help me out with an issue. I picked up a '98 Dakota with the 3.7 v6 for my niece a few months ago. The truck has 51k original miles, but it sat for 5 years because of a broken brake line. I have most of the issues sorted out but I'm getting poor heat out of it. The blend door on over the blower motor is in great shape and moves like it should. Both lines coming into and out of the heater core are hot like I would expect. I can feel the actuator for the blend door and it feels like moving when I twist the knob, but the heat is only warm when its cold outside. I'm out of ideas. Could the heater core be plugged even though the lines in and out are hot to the touch?
Let me preface by saying this will be a long post (and most likely a few follow ups). Iβm trying to solve an issue Iβve had since I bought my Dakota and Iβm in a pinch.
The other day, I went to run to the gas station and I couldnβt start it. Figured out it was the starter and popped it with a jumper lead, started no problem. Went into the engine bay and started cleaning up the mess the previous owner left me during the sound system install. For whatever reason, he ran two positive cables off the alternator to the fuse box. (I will give him credit, he did clamp his ring connectors). However, he also ran an additional ground cable off the negative terminal connector. He did so with semi unsleeved battery cable. Now having removed those and tracing my harness and cables for any extra junk, everything looks intact and plugged in.
When I started my truck, my cabin lights were flickering, getting brighter when I gave it gas. My misfire became significantly more noticeable and Iβve had second long 500rpm stalls at speed. I knew my truck had gremlins, but this fucker is king gremlin. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT I tested the alternator, no multimeter so I popped the negative cable off (sue me). Truck kept running, but cab lights were browning out. Ran for 3 minutes before I shut it off.
Thanks for the read! -dubski
