A list of puns related to "Diving Diseases Research Centre"
Hey everyone, I am a 30 year old German gastrointestinal surgeon currently working in the United States. I am a surgical resident at a German Hospital, with roughly 18 months experience, including a year of Intensive Care. I started doing research on inflammatory bowel disease at a US university hospital in 2019. While still employed in Germany, my surgical training is currently paused, so that I can focus on my research. This summer I will return to working as a surgical resident and finish my training and become a GI surgeon. The plan is to continue working in academia, because I love clinical work, research and teaching! I was a first generation college student and heavily involved in student government and associations - so feel free to also ask anything related to Medical School, education and training!
I have witnessed the past two years from two very different standpoints, one being a temporary resident of the US and the other being a German citizen. Witnessing a Trump presidency & impeachment, BLM, Kobe Bryant, RBG, a General Election, a Biden-Harris presidency, police violence, the COVID-19 pandemic, the assault on the US Capitol on January 6th, and the COVID-19 vaccine rollout has been quite a journey.
Obviously I am happy to try and answer any medical question, but full disclosure: none of my answers can be used or interpreted as official medical advice! If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 (and get off Reddit!), and if you are looking for medical counsel, please go see your trusted doctor! Thanks!! With that out of the way, AMA!
Alright, r/IAmA, let's do this!
Edit: hoooooly smokes, you guys are incredible and I am overwhelmed how well this has been received. Please know that I am excited to read every one of your comments, and I will try as hard as I can to address as many questions as possible. It is important to me to take time that every questions deservers, so hopefully you can understand it might take some more time now to get to your question. Thanks again, this is a great experience!!
Edit 2: Ok, r/IAmA, this is going far beyond my expectations. I will take care of my mice and eat something, but I will be back! Keep the questions coming!
Edit 3: Iβm still alive, sorry, Iβll be home soon and then ready for round two. These comments, questions and the knowledge and experience shared in here is absolutely amazing!
Edit 4: alright, Iβll answer more questions now and
... keep reading on reddit β‘Important message from Dr David Lye, Director of Infectious Disease Research @NCID: Our current status is likely more dangerous than just before circuit breaker last year. 2020 was bad because of the huge outbreak in dormitories among migrant workers which could be contained by locking down albeit with a lot of resources. The many cases with no linkage now suggest the spread to community from the Changi Airport outbreak may be wide and far. 40-50% of infected have no symptoms and can be equally infectious. 10% can get sick enough to need oxygen. Yes we have effective vaccines and treatment, and expanded testing capacity but against us is the new mutant strains that infected TTSH and Changi Airport staff despite masks and vaccination. This is serious. We should all do much more beyond what government dictates. (1) Stay home (2) Avoid crowded places (3) Avoid big groups (4) Form your small social bubble who must be committed to the bubble not to socialise beyond the bubble; for many this is your immediate family (5) Wear mask over mouth and nose including walking in parks (6) Get vaccinated, the TTSH outbreak shows not enough vulnerable old people get vaccinated If you want to keep your family safe, you need to listen and do the above. If a country is overwhelmed like India, many will die including children and young people. Sick people cannot get a bed and dead bodies cannot get cremated or buried. My colleagues and I do not want to see you in NCID or any of the public hospitals. Please feel free to share by copying into your own social media wall or WhatsApp groups.
Edit: ST latest report
I have severe foot and ankle pain and my podiatrist says that the pain is potentially nerve pain stemming from my lower lumbar issues. Over the last couple of years, my doctors have prescibed me various muscle relaxers and ibuprofen to manage the back pain, none of which have worked, mostly made me sleepy and groggy (i have 2 young children and i can't be having that). My podiatrist has prescribed me 300mg gabapentin (neurontin) 1 daily before bed.
The only prescription meds that actually work for my back pain were percocet and vicodin and they're obviously not going to give them out any more (i haven't had a prescription for the latter in a really long time, I've either dealt with the pain or just dealt with the pain).
I'm familiar with nootropics and I'm trying to do my own DD on this medication. Is it closer to taking plain GABA powder, mildly sedative, a little euphoric or is it closer to a phenibut feel?
Does it actually work for pain management, equally or better than an opioid? Is there a potential for addiction? I've only heard of gabapentin through word of mouth and what bit I've seen on the internet. Seems to be that people are taking it recreationally and there's potential for abuse but i haven't seem too much about addiction.
My other concern is, how does gabapentin fare with child services? I know pain killers in general are not well recieved through their eyes and if my ex finds out about me being prescribed, i don't want that hanging over my head with child services, because she's a Cee U Next Tuesday about everything.
Edit: does anybody know if there's any negative interaction with nootropics, specifically L-theanine, Piracetam, Noopept.
I havnt been diving since I was diagnosed with crohns disease. Everything I have read online says not to do it. I havnt talked to my doc yet. I just wanted to see if there is anyone out there that is still diving with this disease. Any info or advice is welcome. I really want to get back to diving.
Hi Reddit, we're here to answer some questions about what goes on at a sexual assault centre. Saffron offers counselling services to those who have been affected by sexual violence, police and court support services for those who want to report, and public education on a variety of topics.
We service the area of Edmonton, AB, as well as nearby rural areas. Please be aware that my answers reflect the jurisdiction I'm in, I can only speak to the laws and procedures of the legal institutions I work with.
I am happy to refer to local resources that can answer more specific jurisdictional questions you may have.

Thanks for all of the great questions everyone! We had a really good time answering them, and it's really nice to see so many people interested in the subject matter.
A special thanks as well to those who disclosed personal experiences with sexual violence in their questions. It takes a lot of courage to be open about it, so thank you for your bravery.
We are leaving a list of resources in several countries for help finding local supports. These links should help you find organizations like Saffron in your area. If you have any more questions or need support please get in touch with them, they can help you.
Thanks again!

In this video , that "so called Research center" teacher is presenting half-baked news about land acquisition in "Sheik Jarrah", he is saying that palestinians are told to leave immediately without any notice, but the truth is they were allowed to live as tenants.
Secondly, he is normalizing Hamas as a normal group of Palestinians freedom fighters, who are fighting for their land. Instead the truth is they want to eradicate Jews from Earth. They use innocent women and children as shield so that they can defame Israel.
He just use slurs against Pakistan to please the naive audience here and semi-educated population here in India, listens to him blindly.
I request everyone to mass report that video.

Question 1: Did Moderna, J&J, Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZen prove that ADE and liver damage would not occur in their current crop of C19 so-called vaccines?
Here are the self-reported results and methodologies used to determine the safety of these so-called vaccines by the most trustworthy and virtuous companies in the world:

Question 2: How do these mice and non-human primate studies remotely constitute 'animal studies?' Are there any people here who are able to support the idea that these companies conducted competent animal studies?

I recently found some media research that investigates the relationship between PCOS and Fatty Liver disease. Cool stuff. Went and participated on Monday and it was very pleasant overall. Turns out they're having trouble recruiting PCOS peeps, so I wanted to share it here.
Indiana University PCOS Cross Sectional Study
It takes 1.5 hours. They draw blood, take urine,, take an ultrasound and fibroscan of your liver, and do a body scan for BMI/etc. You get a $50 giftcard.
They need women with PCOS ages 18 to 45.
Let me know if you want to know more about the experience. I actually drove an hour to do it because I think these things are so important!
