What you buy matters! About the Sport Fish Restoration Act (USA and District of Columbia)

I saw a recent post about a tackle box from Plano and wanted to let everyone know about something I wished I learned earlier in my fishing 'career'. This may answer some of your questions about how your fishing dollars matter to wildlife, waterway access, and education.

This is about the Sport Fish Restoration Act (SFR). I don't want to bore you so for a more detailed version of its history please go here: https://www.fws.gov/wsfrprograms/subpages/grantprograms/sfr/sfr.htm

In a nutshell: every time you purchase a rod or reel, motor boat fuel, tackle, basically any equipment that's fishing-related, 10% of that money goes to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The USFWS takes that money every year and reappropriates it back to each state (the amount that goes back to each state depends on number of licensed anglers and land and water area of the state). That money goes towards building angler access areas, habitat restoration, angler education, and ultimately conservation of our aquatic resources.

I mentioned Plano before because they get out of this tax by not labeling their products as 'fishing-related'. If you look, they're usually labeled utility boxes, or they otherwise find ways of getting out of this tax. This matters because this is one of the major fishing brands we know today.

I will end this by saying that this wasn't a bash on Plano, even though I personally try to avoid their equipment if I am able to. I just want every angler to know where their money goes, and I want our fisheries to be around for years to come! I may not be able to answer detailed questions but if you have general questions about any of this please let me know and feel free to share this info with whoever.

Fish on!

EDIT: this may only be in reference to Plano's tackle boxes (which obviously is one of the main things they sell). I mean "utility boxes".

Daily News Report: District of Columbia-State of Maryland Congressional Electorate Union Act, Johnkaz34 Proposal, Delaware-California Tension, Elmo-Sponge Campaign!

Hi, I am reporter Pewdsaiman, and today I have come up with many things to talk about and show y'll. Bills in the senate, Delaware-California tension and Elmo-Sponge campaign. So, let's start.

#District of Columbia-State of Maryland Congressional Electorate Union Act

This act has been passed in The U.S Senate, it was proposed by Sen. u/superdupersun. This bill while gives more rights to D.C but the residents were expecting more from it. This bill is receiving mixed reactions, both in Democratic and Republican Party. Moreover, the D.C residents are also seeming very about it, but some are displeased.

This bills gives right to D.C to appoint delegates and sent it Representatives to U.S Senate as senators elected through, any congressional district of Maryland.

#Johnkaz34 Proposal

So, Sen. u/Johnkaz34, proposed a bill to the senate which restricts companies, and businesses to fire people because of opinions. It is co-sponsored by Sen. u/theoriginalelmo. The buisness owners and employers seem very displeased with this act, but some of 'em are happy too.

Many think it gives right to the workers and stop the buisness crimes whereas, some think it infringes the freedom of businesses and companies.

#Delaware-California Tension

This past week the California Governor u/Vegetable-Bread9509 said that he will send millitary of California to take control of Delaware to save it from socialism. The Delaware Sen. u/themobb1 also supported this act saying that it is to save Delaware. Most of the Americans are heavily displeased by this infight of the union, and they are not pleased with both Governor of California and Senator of Delware.

It is now very important for President u/Canuk69420 and his administration to unite the country, as America elected 1st Socialist President, it is also seeing many displease among the right wing due to this.

However, the tension for now is gone between California and Delaware, but they need to be more friendly to each other.

#Elmo-Sponge Campaign

So, this past month there have been very heated campaigning between Sen. u/theoriginalelmo and the republican candidate for Arkansas Senate, u/based_spongebob. There have been revealed sex scandals from u/theoriginalelmo, and he has been accused for pointing a gun
