A list of puns related to "Dirty Star Trek"
Zero episodes include the moon. They talk about it but they also talked about New Zealand and First Contact proved that New Zealand doesnt exist.
Is this in canon for Riker's behavior? He gives Crusher such a hateful look at 15 minutes 50 seconds into the episode, after its revealed she thinks the crew has over 1000 people but its actually 2 hundred something.
Is this a case of this specific episode's director or writer not knowing William Ricker's honor and behavior? I can't believe Riker would give Beverly such a nasty look.
Even if he thought she was nutz, considering all the crazy things they've encountered in space, I don't see why riker wouldn't have an open mind.
i don't like thinking of my beloved riker being such a meany.
What is something in Trek you love (or hate) that most everyone else would disagree with? Or at least you think everyone disagrees with?
Mine is that of all the ships in Trek (both regular and "Hero" ships) I think the best/coolest design is the NX-01 from Enterprise. I love how it looks both advanced and crude both inside and out. I also love how of all the ships called Enterprise it looks the most unique. All the others are too similar to each other in my opinion, all having the same basic shape. Sure the NX-01 had a somewhat similar saucer section but that was it. Without the secondary hull section it have a look unique shape that no other Enterprise ship had (and yes, my second favorite ship is the Defiant but more other reasons beyond just how it looked)
Edit: So I felt the need to make a quick edit to just say how surprised I am by this subreddit. This is a post that's basically just begging for people to fight over something but so far, nothing. Even in the few comments with people specifically disagreeing with someone. And while theirs more then a few comments I very much disagree with (DS9 is awesome and so is the opening song to Enterprise, fight me) I will admit to being presently surprised by the conversations happening.

The Berman era of Star Trek ended with the Enterprise finale "These Are the Voyages..."
Since then, we've had the J.J. Abrams trilogy which lead to Star Trek returning to television with Discovery, Short Treks, Picard, Lower Decks, and Prodigy. We also have Strange New Worlds to look forward to this summer. Beginning with the 2009 film rolling forward, do you have a favorite Star Trek?
From the Abrams trilogy, my favorite film would be Beyond. It wasn't another Earth is in danger plot which was getting lazy. Instead, it was the Enterprise (always enough jeopardy for me) and that giant space-station. I thought it was stupidly designed, but the point was that it was too big to simply evacuate everyone to a starship.
From the streaming shows, though Discovery is really good, I think Picard is my favorite. It feels like a 10-hour movie. haha Back in the early 2000's, we got cheated out of a 5th movie due to the poor box office performance of Nemesis. We were supposed to get a 5th film to properly bow out TNG, and then it didn't happen. I feel like Picard is giving the long-time TNG fans from back then the ending to TNG that we never got, if that makes sense. I love how it's an infusion of old and new characters. I also love how Seven of Nine can blend into the cast without feeling gimmicky.
Favorite New-Trek film, Beyond.
Favorite New-Trek series, Picard.
I just finished watching all of The Orville episodes. I was surprised at how the show started off really good, and got even better.
As I stated in another forum: I think it is clear that Seth MacFarlane could help produce, help write, and possible appear in a very good Star Trek movie. He understands what makes Star Trek special. I think he appeared in at least two episodes of Star Trek Enterprise.
In my opinion, he has done more for Star Trek, by creating positive comparisons, than anyone Paramount currently has working it.
However, with the Orville being such a good show, he might not be interested in a crossover ever.
Running a poll on Lego Reddit right now. Thought I would try both communities.
I've been watching Star Trek for about a year now (watched Discovery, TNG series + movies, some lower Decks, and am currently on DS9) and I absolutely love it. However, I can't stop from laughing at some of the "Star Trek Logic" that pervades each series. I thought it'd be fun for us to list them. I'll start:
Double fisted punches are twice as effective.
If something strange has happened in order to advance the plot but you don't want to explain it, just use the term "anomaly".
Characters may undergo deep physical, psychological, or genetic changes, but don't worry, the reversal will be quick and easy and they'll be back to normal by the end of the episode.
Sensors are pronounced "SenSORS". Except when they're not.
"How long will it take, chief?" "14 days at least, and that's with all our men working double shifts." "You have 10 hours."
Their com badge knows exactly who they intend to reach even before they finish saying their name. And when they are done speaking to the person, the com badge automatically knows. Even when they have another person in the room that they are speaking to and they continue in one uninterrupted sentence, the first half of it to the person on the other end of the com badge and the second half of it to the person in the room with them.
Main characters get transported out of danger not one second too soon. If every transport on every series happened 1 second later, most of the main characters would be dead.
If you are an unknown character on an away mission with 3 main characters, I have bad news for you...
I know you guys will definitely have some good ones. Add to the list!
Per THR:
> Filming on Paramount+ drama Star Trek: Picard has been shut down since Monday following a sizable COVID-19 outbreak.
> Sources say more than 50 members of the large production tested positive on Monday, which was the first day of work after the Christmas break. The Patrick Stewart-led series has one of televisionβs biggest crews, numbering more than 450 staffers. The infections impacted multiple zones, including cast in zone A.
> Production on the series was immediately shut down Monday and has remained dark since. Sources say filming is expected to resume early next week, if not sooner, though details remain in limbo.
> Picard was formally renewed for a third season in September, with seasons two and three being filmed back-to-back in a bid to control costs and accommodate production schedules.
Hopefully they will keep the cast and crew safe.
There is a post asking which "modern" Star Trek is your favorite and I'd like to counter I love all Star Trek. Not every episode is gold and every series has it's strong and weak points, but Star Trek has always been about progress and change. The characters that clung to the "ways things used to be" always eventually saw their error and changed their ways.
What food, drink, or delicacies would you want to try.
She called me in to finish the songs. Needless to say I was a proud poppa.
Edit.
Since this post is getting traction, hereβs my guy watching the opening credits to TNG. Enjoy!
Hey everyone,
This is my first post on this sub but I just wanted to get this out here. It is a bit of a long story, but I wanted to share it with this community and to see if others experienced something similar.
I enjoy sci-fi. My favourite shows growing up were The Twilight Zone, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, and The X Files. Despite this, I was always more attracted to horror films and sci fi movies which are a bit darker (Alien and Blade Runner are two of my favourite movies of all time).
Anyways, I...had a rough few years like everyone else. I finished my PhD (behavioural and spatial ecology with a previous background in paleoecology). I guess, as a kid, I was always into the natural sciences and it never left me.
After I finished my PhD, I felt lost. The pandemic was just starting, I was absolutely broke, and only found a job as an adjunct lecturer. It was such a terrible time in my life. I didn't even have time to publish, or date, or even have fun. I was stuck in a rough patch, to say the least.
This past summer, I was carrying on applying for better jobs and...I decided to turn on TNG as I saw it on Netflix. I was never against Star Trek or anything, it was just something I wasn't keen on.
I just adored it. I adored the optimism and hope, even during such rough times. The wonderful characters, the cheesiness, and as a scientist myself (albeit, an out of work one), an emphasis on the love of discovery and research to solve problems and to view the cosmos with absolute awe and wonder.
That last reason really stuck with me, as I think, a lot of people who grew up wanting to be scientists or are into the sciences never lose that childlike sense of wonder.
When watching TNG, and Deep Space Nine (my personal favourite), and then Voyager....I will fully admit that these shows kept me going. That even though I was in a rough patch, that there is hope for something better. That optimism found in Star Trek greatly helped me hang in there.
I finally got a better job (working as a research scientist position for my state and having a livable income) and I can finally, and hopefully begin to start the next journey in my life. I am excited to see what will come from this and what new opportunities are next. With all of that being said, when I was applying for jobs and feeling down, Star Trek kept my chin up, and in more ways than I thought.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Anyways, thank you for reading.
In r/television someone said she might be better
My favourite is βSomeone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. After all Number One, we're only mortal.β
Trying to put the finger on what is that I don't like of it. For sure the spore drive is dumb, all the bio inspired stuff is, more so that this guy has some kind of bond with it, etc. The alien species also are too much, like the butterfly aliens...
I don't care much for all the action either, stories are lame and superficial, no big mystery or moral dilemma. I get the impression the writers were not big Star Trek fans.
Something is missing that was fine in TNG, DS9 and VOY. Picard was ok. Never cared for any of the movies.
"The Star Trek cult is based in my opinion, on four things:

For me its Mal Reynolds. That ship was always falling apart, most of the time they didn't get along, they were always broke and they were always getting shot at. But he kept them together. He made sure to put the crew before anything else.
What is your favorite extra or one liner character in Star trek?

Hi Reddit, it's been a while. My name is Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry. My father was Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek. I am an Executive Producer on all current Star Trek TV Shows. Happy to be back w/ this community to chat Trek, tech and more. A few things the Roddenberry/Trek gang celebrated this year: A celebration of my father, Gene Rodenberryβs Centennial, Star Trekβs 55th Anniversary, more initiatives with The Roddenberry Foundation, and of course creating awesomeness through Roddenberry Entertainment. A few of my personal adventures include scuba diving and exploring the outdoors. Let's talk about adventuring into the future. Join me December 2nd. I hope to answer as many questions as possible, and will return to the AMA for reflections ongoing. Thanks! ~ Rod

I discovered this today while watching Enterprise, which I start started a week ago. I don't think I can finish the series in ten days. Bummer!
edit: thank you to everyone for not mentioning my typo

Please read this article before continuing it is a very brief account on LGBTQ issues in Star Trek.
Finally in 2017 we got to met Paul Stamitz and Hugh Culber. However the first openly gay characters in Star Trek came 50 years too late and 26 years after Gene Roddenberry made a promise to include a gay character in TNG but died before the shows conclusion.
What is not written in this article is the massive amount of infighting that happened among writers, actors, producers, and network execs which ended making Star Trek one of the last popular franchises to βget with the timesβ. Many actors including Jonathon Frakes, Andrew Robinson, and Terry Farrell all fought to have their characters sexuality be more than ambiguous. Robinson even claimed long ago that he was playing Garak as a sexually fluid character with a gay attraction to an attractive young doctor Bashir. Terry Farrell on the other hand had the first same sex kiss, but is seen as more of a transgender icon than a gay icon. She is a young woman who was in a sense formerly a man and she is adjusting to learning to be a new person.
The article also fails to mention Seven of Nine: The gay character that never was. Sevenβs story is a parallel to many gay stories including my own. She is in a sense forced out of her Borg closet when she is turned back into a human. She is then treated with mistrust, aggression, discomfort and scorn, all things that she is already feeling about herself. She is different and people treat her differently. However with the help of an older female mentor (Janeway) Seven begins to find herself and begins her journey of discovering who she really is. Many of us in the gay community know the feeling. Seven of mineβs sexuality was also ambiguous for many years with many fans hoping for her to be a lesbian. An error which was finally corrected in Picard.
Many, many writers, producers and fans supported gay representation notably Gerrold and Taylor. However some writers reported that Berman was vehemently homophobic and wanted nothing to do with an LGBTQ story. Others claim that they felt allegory was more appropriate or that the network execs were responsible, some producers and writers, notably Gerrold walked away from Trek because it would not represent us.
Discovery era Trek has a lot of LGBTQ representation but I am more interested in discussing how you feel
... keep reading on reddit β‘Since my earliest memories of Star Trek as a toddler watching LeVar Burton's "behind the scenes of TNG" episode of Reading Rainbow, I have always gravitated toward the Engineers in Trek.
Scotty was colorful and sometimes lovably goofy. Geordi was an affable nerd who speaks to a hopeful future with his overcoming of blindness. O'Brien was a pro-Union working class every man.
But I think B'Elanna Torres might be the best of all of them. She's strong yet realistically flawed, and speaks to the nature of being/feeling like "the other" even among friends in a way that, dare I say, feels even more grounded than Spock & Data. Like Spock, Torres struggles with her heritage, having been abandoned by her father and tormented for being visibly different. So she has trouble with trust/intimacy and anger management. But she still succeeds and even thrives partly in spite of, partly because of this. A great character.
