Recently I’ve been doing James Bond movie nights with a friend. This kinda event naturally pairs well with martinis. Previously I thought I didn’t like gin, but now I think it was really just the green olives I didn’t care for. However, dirty / filthy martinis, sans olives, are spectacular.
(For you purists we’ve also done Vesper martini with with sweet vermouth due to lack availability of Kina Lillet)
Are there any other good variations on a brined martini worth bringing to a 007 night?
Curious what everyone does here at their bar. Assuming that you don't have the time to ask a customer their preference, do you use:
Martinis with a massive amount of olive juice are disgusting, they’re just salty olive mixes with gin or vodka and they taste like the bottom of a pickle troth. I understand some people really enjoy this but I can’t help but gag every time I try and take a sip of one of these.
It’s my partner’s birthday this weekend and all they have asked for is the perfect dirty (I mean - absolutely filthy) martini.
I have never made a martini before and need some advice! Any tips are appreciated - especially when it comes to the olives.
My partner LOVE olives…the saltier the better. They usually snack on Pearls Pimiento stuffed olives but I don’t know if that’s a good cocktail olive? Help appreciated!
Let’s talk olive brine... Does anyone else feel like the worst olives have the best brine? And the best olives don’t have good brine (too oily).
When I make a dirty martini, I end up buying low-quality jarred olives — just for the brine. And then I separately buy high quality olives for the garnish.
(I’ve also tried the pre-bottled dirty martini brines ... but I think these come up short too)
What do you use for your dirty martini olive + olive brine program ?
Hey there y’all. I know everyone has a lot to say about darker spirit pairings, but does anyone have good pairings with gin or vodka martinis? I’m more of a Maduro or Robusto cigar guy for the most part, but would like a savory lighter cigar to pair with the semi occasional dirty gin martini. I’m in America so none of these sinful Cubans please.

we do the whole "there goes your tip, my husbands a big tipper" thing, and i assure her that i will be just fine in life without it... she ends up leaving and later coming back to talk to the manager cause i "ruined her whole night" {haha}... my work is a complete shitshow so one of the bartenders is just like yeah im the manager and shes goin on about what happened, i go down and antagonize her a little bit more before she left
its such a fucked up and unfair world that i didnt get to watch her take a sip of an extra dirty apple martini
I checked some bars and cafes and they usually have Espresso or Pornstar Martinis
I'm coming to Edinburgh in a few weeks and will be there for my partners birthday. Her favourite drink is a dirty martini and so does anyone have any recommendations for the "best" dirty martini in the city?
Her birthday is on a Monday and it seems like quite a few of the more popular cocktail bars that I've heard of are closed on Mondays which makes it a little harder.
