Dirty Captain Puns

In the time between Angelo Mathews resigning as the all format captain in July 2017, and Angelo Mathews' return to the helm tomorrow, 11 men have captained Sri Lanka across formats (in just 120 matches, so less than 11 matches per person). Here's a quick rundown of them:

• Dinesh Chandimal (19 tests, 9 ODIs, 4 T20Is): Named as the new test captain immediately after Mathews' resignation, Chandimal led Sri Lanka out against Zimbabwe a mere 4 days after Mathews decided he'd had enough, and has captained Sri Lanka in the post-Mathews era more than anyone else. Chandimal's captaincy experience is as chaotic as they come, even before the time period I'm covering. There is an insane amount to cover, so if you're curious ask in the comments, because I'm trying to keep this relatively short. Anyways, the highlights: missing what would have been his second match in charge with pneumonia, a historic series win in the UAE, heavy defeats home and away to India, missing a home series against South Africa because of a ball tampering suspension, and difficult tours to New Zealand and Australia. Largely a stand in captain for the limited overs, who ended up standing in quite frequently, (including part of the Nidahas Trophy in 2018, before himself getting suspended for a slow over rate) Chandimal was named the permanent limited overs captain after Sri Lanka crashed out of the 2018 Asia Cup, before losing that job at the start of 2019 when a new selection panel came in. He then lost the test captaincy, and his place in the team, ahead of the tour of South Africa in 2019, but he was once again captaining Sri Lanka earlier this year, in the tests against England, as the regular captain was injured.
• Rangana Herath (1 test): The man who stood in for Chandimal when he missed what would have been his second match in charge, Herath was a loyal servant of Sri Lankan cricket for many years and finally got a chance to captain the side at the very end of his career. Sri Lanka lost heavily, but what could they really do against the Indian machine, in a match where Herath himself got injured before the end of it.
• Upul Tharanga (8 ODIs, 1 T20I): Tharanga was named the limited overs captain after Mathews' resignation, having been the vice captain for a couple years and standing-in several times because of repeated injuries to Mathews. Tharanga's run as permanent captain was pretty dreadful, with Sri Lanka losing all 9 matches un

I didn’t understand how he would be able to come back and get his Southern Wind pots since they went below the water line.

Will the line disintegrate after a few hours under water and expose the bags? I heard them saying that but for some reason I wasn’t sure if I was understanding that right.

Since Doomsday Clock isn’t all about “big battles”, I’ll first critique this from an intellectual standpoint.

First off, I’m sure most of you know the relationship between Manhattan and CA, I would’ve loved to see an in-universe explanation of that relationship.

I feel like they missed an opportunity by not having Nate confront Jon about how he also went from being a human to a quantum god, but decided to retain his human traits, while Jon discarded them.

Now, from a “battleboard” perspective.

CA and Manhattan’s “battle” was such a cop-out. While I’m glad Nate was the only earthly hero able to harm Jon, the fact that the battle turned out the way it did was BS. We’ve seen CA create AND destroy universes.

Overall, I think there was a missed opportunity by not building anything between the two outside of a short “battle”.

AMC Tustin 14 doesn't have Fan Event. Tustin has recliners, but Orange don’t have them.

The Fan Event starts at 6pm, though Dolby Cinema starts at 7:30pm at Orange, or at 7pm at Tustin.
