A list of puns related to "Digital Tiff Bell Lightbox"
I noticed that the Reel Talk and Secret Movie Club screenings for this month show up on the TIFF calendar for Friday January 14th and Friday January 21st so I clicked on them and the pages for each were updated to have more information.

> TIFF Bell Lightbox cinemas are closed until January 26 and will reopen based on trends in public health and health systems in Ontario. In the interim, we will make our next Reel Talk (and Secret Movie Club) event available on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox across Canada.
> Ticket holders will be able to access the film as of 12pm ET on Friday, January 14 (Friday January 21 for Secret Movie Club), and must start watching it before Sunday, January 16, (Sunday January 23 for Secret Movie Club) at 12pm ET. Once started, ticket holders have 24 hours to complete watching the film, unless otherwise noted.
> The Q&A with a special guest will take place live on Sunday, January 16, at 12pm ET via Zoom. Ticket holders will receive a link via email or can access the Zoom link on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox. A recording of the Q&A will also be made available on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox after the event.
EDIT: Ticket holders were refunded for the in-person screening and are being asked to repurchase a ticket on digital Lightbox if they wish to still see the film.
So TIFF has finally unveiled a FireTV app for the digital Lightbox, but when I try to purchase it on Amazon, it tells me I canβt due to geographical restrictions (Iβm in Toronto). Is anyone else having this issue as well?
Just noticed that TIFF updated their release calendar listings and Shiva Baby and The Father will be available for rentals on Digital TIFF Bell Lightbox starting Friday March 26th.

For anyone who didn't see it as part of Secret Movie Club or is maybe not on the email mailing list, just thought I would share. Minari will be coming to digital TIFF Bell Lightbox later in February.
There will be 2 advance screenings and then the regular release.
February 18th advance screening, 6pm
February 23rd advance screening, 6pm
Not sure what the watch window will be for these but I would assume that since they are advance screenings it will probably be limited, perhaps for 24 hours only, and 12 hours to finish after you hit play.
Then it will be available for regular release on February 26th
Also coming soon is Supernova, starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci.
Some programming:
-Theatrical runs of TIFF β21 selections like Midnight Madness hit Titane
-Welcome Back β TIFF Cinemathequeβs series of big-screen classics from directors Stanley Kubrick, Jane Campion, Abbas Kiarostami, and more
-A spotlight on the early work and inspirations of Denis Villeneuve
-In Case You Missed It β Another chance to catch acclaimed titles like Minari and Nomadland in theatre

Loved going weekly before the pandemic started...anyone know if they're re-opening with stage 3?
Is it me or is that a surprisingly high amount to rent a movie like The Father on the digital TIFF Lightbox site? I thought it was like $6 pre pandemic, but maybe I'm thinking of Hot Docs and Cineplex.
For $22, can't I buy the DVD eventually? Is that price so high because it hasn't been released in theatres so studios have to make up their money any way they can?

Due to Cineplex's refusal to screen Netflix and Amazon films, these films are now part of TIFF's Fall roster. This is a major coup for TIFF!
Hey guys! So I was just on the Raptors app, and under the fan tab you can sign up to attend the "Open Gym: The Next Chapter" event at TIFF Bell Lightbox. It's on October 16th at 6:30pm.
Note: filling out the form doesn't guarantee you the tickets, a representative from MLSE will have to email you.
This event was absolutely GREAT last year. I got a pair of game tickets (nosebleeds) last year just by attending the event. I really hope I get to go again this year π€
After 5pm today, March 14th, the Lightbox will be closed until April 14th.
Full info can be found here: https://tiff.net/covid-19.
I'll be watching the 8 hour epic War and Peace this weekend at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. It's split into two parts. 4 hours each day. I'm thinking the showing will be the 1966 digital restoration similar to the trailer below.

I'm hearing nothing but positive things about this movie.
TORONTO! Junun screening, Q&A and performance with Jonny in attendance at TIFF Bell Lightbox on Wednesday night. $23.75.
While in Toronto as part of their sold-out North American tour, composer Shye Ben Tzur and his ensemble Rajasthan Express join Radiohead guitarist and frequent Paul Thomas Anderson collaborator Jonny Greenwood for an onstage Q&A after a screening of Anderson's concert doc Junun**. The Q&A will be followed by an intimate musical performance by Rajasthan Express.**

Because you can only buy tickets for the movies playing at Lightbox there. If you try to buy tickets for other venues, you will be turned away.
You have to go to 225 King St West to buy tickets for other venues. Some venues can print your tickets if you buy online but not all venues. Check if your venue can by calling into TIFF, it will save you a lot of time in line if you can print at the theatre. Theatres can only print tickets on the day of the event.
Apparently the clowns that run TIFF's website didn't want to bother updating it for the actual festival, so they are wrongly directing everybody to buy tickets at Bell Lightbox.
Thanks for making me waste my lunch hour and not get to see the movie I was looking forward to TIFF!
The one thing they are updating on the site are celebrity pictures...
Beyond Badass: Female Action Heroes
The one and only Pam Grier joins us to introduce select screenings in this tribute to the most lethal ladies of the silver screen.
Other movies playing in the series:
Alien
Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2
La Femme Nikita
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Quick and the Dead
Charlie's Angels
House of Flying Daggers
Haywire
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
Mad Max: Fury Road
Wish I knew how much tickets were and I wish I didn't hate the TIFF web site so much. Looks like there's a members-only ticket window right now for the Pam Grier stuff.
I'm looking at some tickets online and I have a few questions:
Thanks for the help!
Howdy howdy,
A few of us will be heading out tonight to see The Great Beauty at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Showtime is 7pm, so we'll start meeting in the lobby around 6:30.
Released in Italy mid-2013, The Great Beauty went on to screen at Cannes (where it was nominated for Palme d'Or) and TIFF, recently won a Golden Globe for best foreign language film, and has been nominated in the same category for the Academy Awards. Trailer, description:
> Journalist Jep Gambardella has charmed and seduced his way through the lavish nightlife of Rome for decades. Since the legendary success of his one and only novel, he has been a permanent fixture in the city's literary and social circles, but when his sixty-fifth birthday coincides with a shock from the past, Jep finds himself unexpectedly taking stock of his life, turning his cutting wit on himself and his contemporaries, and looking past the extravagant nightclubs, parties, and cafΓ©s to find Rome in all its glory: a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty.
We'll hit up somewhere nearby for dinner/drinks after the movie, and newcomers are welcome as always. Message me for a cell number if you'd like help finding the group.
Filmed in late 1980s and rejected by hundreds of distribution companies, Miami Connection went unseen for decades before Drafthouse Films found out about this cinematic gem and decided to give it a proper theatrical release!
What could be so awful/awesome about this film that it was rejected repeatedly/is getting attention now? If that fundamental mystery isn't enough to entice you, consider the fact that this flick also features tons of martial arts action, a gang of goddamn motorcycle ninjas and a catchy-as-fuck rock song about the virtues of friendship!
It opens this Friday, March 29 @ 9:30 PM (TIFF Bell Lightbox) and I'm going to be there with bells on. Want to join in? The more the merrier!
Plans may include some pre- or post-drinking if there's interest.
UPDATE: I'm going to go out to Wide Open (a skinny dive bar @ Queen/Spadina) for a drink or two before the film. If anyone wants to join in, PM me and we'll work out the details a bit more.
Howdy,
This Tuesday a few of us will be heading out to see Boyhood at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Showtime is 7:15 so we'll start meeting in the lobby around 6:45.
Boyhood [trailer] is Richard Linklater's highly anticipated twelve-years-in-making epic following a boy and his family over the same period. It was hard to predict how the end result would fare, but so far critics adore it. Linklater's also known for School of Rock and Bernie, but Boyhood will probably be more familiar for fans of his Before Sunrise/Before Sunset/Before Midnight series.
Newcomers welcome as always (message me for contact info), and as usual we'll go somewhere nearby for food and drinks after.
