A list of puns related to "Digital Theater Systems"
My wife and I host a podcast that is mostly centered around movies. We watch a lot of them and go to the theaters 20 or so times a year. Seeing Dune on the Big Screen with Dolby sound was one of the best movie experiences of my life. The only things I can remember being on that level are LotR: The Two Towers, LotR: Return of the King, and 1917.
I decided to go see it a second time but it was already out of theaters. Not being able to ever experience Dune the way it should be had me pretty disappointed. The score is amazing. Feeling the thumpers in your chest is amazing. Everything is amazing.
So I decided to buy a surround sound system. Originally budgeted for ~$500 but ended up spending $700 on a subwoofer alone (thanks to r/hometheater). I got everything set up last week and have been waiting for the blue ray to drop 1/11/2022 to finally get to watch it again. Below is a link to a picture of my setup for tomorrow.

It's on the old side, bought in 2009. But just curious if anyone had any trouble shooting tips I can try. So the red standby light on the interface module is on but when I try to power it on there's no response, I've verified that the remote works by trying other devices like the t.v. and the blu ray player. I've tried doing a hard reset by unplugging the unit for about 2 minutes but that hasn't worked. So at this point I don't know what else to try.
Now I know audiophiles by and large prefer to own physical formats, it's real, it (usually) sounds better, it's superior in almost every way.
But sometimes I just wanna veg out on the couch and listen to some new music or something I'm thinking about buying, and I want to get an idea of how it's mixed, how pleasing it is to my human ears.
So my question is, what is the best way to get this all going? I'm super new to this whole audiophile experience and I'm going down a rather expensive rabbithole with all these new speakers and such. Currently I'm just casting Google Play to a Chromecast Ultra going through my AV receiver. Is there a better streaming service? Better casting device? I know the Chromecast Ultra has TOSLINK output, and apparently I can't cast Tidal.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, quick Google yielded mixed results.

So far I have
That's it.
I have been going back and forth on HTIB systems and Soundbar kits etc...
The walls and ceilings are solid wood, not drywall and the floor is tile. The room opens up to the right into the dining room and kitchen and it's pretty sizeable. Acoustically it's probably going to be tough to wrangle.
My hope is to have the system be somewhat low profile, start with at least a 3.1 setup (Center and 2 rears?) but eventually I'd like to get to a 5.2 / 7.2 and with some future-proofing considered. (Receiver capable of 4k 120hz hdmi passthrough comes to mind)
I also would like the ability to quickly switch to wireless headphone output so I don't piss off my wife (she works remotely based on California time, so some evenings can be tough to game or watch something that's pumping lots of sound).
The issue I have is not really understanding the "used market" here yet and I'd like to start with at least a new receiver, but I'm also limited on the size and weight of what can ship via my military address, or what/where I should be looking to buy locally.
I really appreciate any input

Hey y'all, I've got an issue. My dad and I have been trying to figure this issue out because it's just been bothering him, and he keeps sucking me into trying to fix it, so I thought I'd ask this subreddit.
Let me try and detail the issue: The CineMate interface Cable (AKA the receiver) of the CineMate Home Theater system (which we bought used btw) does not turn on. What I mean by that is that there's power, because the LED indicator is red, but we try turning it on with the remote, changing batteries out and everything, but no fruit.
Do any of you know the solution to this?
Does anybody else think this is ridiculous? How hard can it be the operate a TV or a stereo? Reminds me of my father who can't figure out the simplest technology.
I dgaf about the tv but if I build a new music system Iβm going to have to justify it by somehow saying it will enhance my familyβs tv watching experience. How to I put together a top notch (not talking 5/6 figures) listening experience that can be used for home theater as well?
So I'm looking for something that will rattle the walls a little but my wife isn't a big fan of pure action films. She enjoyed things like Kong Skull Island and the MCU movies. We were planning to watch Dune this weekend but apparently it's not available to stream for less than $20 right now
My life sucks.
I recently bought the 55" android TV (55U78G) and the Samsung home theater system doesn't seem to work with ARC . When the device is off, I can select ARC in the audio output and it turns on the Samsung Device but then goes back to TV Speaker and ARC is grayed out. I contacted Hisense support and they simply said that not all devices are compatible with their TV.
I'm wondering if anyone had any luck with similar setup.
Thank you
Iβm on the board of a small theater that owns its own space and has an annual operating budget of $150-200k
We just had a snafu with quickbooks and it got us thinking about an alternative (cloud based) accounting system. And something more tuned to a non profit.
We run shows and thus have ticket sales (the bulk of our income), we also get grants. There is no payroll other than 1099s . Of course we have donors too.
Searches bring up dozens of non profit accounting packages but itβs hard to know what to even try before buying.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Half the time it starts fast fowarding for no reason. and then, it'll just go back to the start and not allow you to do anything else. and then crash out of the theater and require you to start the game altogether.
Matrix is coming. I want to see it on the nicest digital theater with recliners. Are there any Dolby Atmos screens or really nice theaters in the area?
Hey guys,
I'm currently building a new home theater set up and have purchased brand new Martin Logan speakers for a 7.1.2 set up. Only through trial and error have I found that I maybe should have went for a 5.1.4 Atmos set up, but for now I'm stuck with this (Unless anyone has any advice for a better set up). My budget is around $10,000. Though this has total cost me around $8,000.
My current spec list is:
I also have 2 Sonos in ceiling speakers I put up during new construction. I noticed that Klipsch speakers have the Front Height Reverb speakers and was curious what people thought about those, and if it's worth going for something that has a driver pushing towards the ceiling rather than the 2 front Martin Logan speakers I have listed here. I want to try to get the most out of a Dolby Atmos set up.
I'm looking for recommendations on how I can improve this build as I'm not the most knowledgeable on the latest AVR set ups. I'm also looking for a decent subwoofer I could use with this build.
I have 30 days to return or change these components, so I'm open to different speakers and brands if anyone has any better recommendations.
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!
