DOM Nikollë Kaçorri - 28.November.1912

He was born in 1862 in the village of Krejë, Lurë (now in Dibër municipality) to an catholic father and a muslim mother.

When he was 7 he was sent to the Jesuit school in Shkodra which he completes with excellent results.

He studied theology in Italy, being ordained as a Catholic priest. On his return to Albania in 1895, he began work as a parish priest in Durrës.

Father Kaçorri acquired, shared and published albanian literature all over Durrës (e.g Drita Journal By Shahin Kolonja which functioned as a Abetare).

He brought "Historia e Shqipërisë" (recently published in in Vienna at the time) to Durrës. He reprinted it in huge volumes and made sure it was readily available.

In the early years of the twentieth century, Kaçorri was increasingly involved in the nationalist movement, and was one of the organisers of an armed uprising in Kurbin, Krujë and Mirditë in 1905–07

In 1907, Kaçorri was a member of the nationalist Vllaznia (Brotherhood) society in Durrës and co-founded the Bashkimi (Unity) society in 1909.

In November 1908, he took part in the Congress of Manastir, as a delegatë from Durrës, which was held to decide on an Albanian alphabet.

In 1910, during an uprising in Kurbin in which he was involved, he was arrested by the Ottoman authorities for sedition and was sentenced four years in prison, though the sentence was soon reduced to 13 months. Father Kaçorri would send arms and supplies to albanian groups all over Albania. In one of those deliveries which where disguised as supplies for church services a letter was found with "Long live Kosova!"

In 1912 Kaçorri signed the declaration of independence and became Deputy Primeminister of Albania.  He ordered Qemali to present and wave the national flag.

Kaçorri resigned in March 1913 after marked difference with Qemali.

His house in Durrës was burned down by the heinous traitor Haxhi Qamili. Father Kaçorri was on his hitlist. He migrated to Vienna where he continued to work for Albania's interest.

Father Kaçorri died of cancer on 29.05.1917 in Vienna

The communists erased him from history and ironically Enver Hoxha was portraying the heinous traitor Haxhi Qumili in a positive light.

In 1992 and the following years he received honors from Sali Berisha and Bamir Topi

In February of 2011 his remains returned to Durrës in the church of Saint Lucia.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
