Some of my favorite albums are My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless and Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish and Siamese Dream. And the reason is because lots of the songs on those albums have dreamy, almost psychedelic melodies to them. I was never able to pinpoint that kind of sound anywhere else, the closest I got was the genre “shoegaze.” Other individual songs that I like that fit that kind of sound are tracks like Coldplay’s Clocks. It’s just that vibe and type of melody that sounds cloudy and dreamy - I could never pinpoint it, shoegaze was the closest I got.
Until now. Out of dumb luck I came across Space Song. And it sounds whimsical, dreamy and exactly like the kind of melodies and vibe I have been looking for for SO MANY YEARS. I’m hooked on the entire Depression Cherry album. It’s like I struck gold. I guess what I’ve been searching for is dream pop!

I really love beach house and having an LP from them is a dream. Been using this album as my comfort for my depression.
For some reason, DP some seems by the general fan base to be non top-tier say the way Bloom or Teen Dream or 7. But I argue it’s the most subtle and beautiful of their discography. Even the title and album cover, and the overall atmosphere of the album perfectly captures the bitter sweetness of the feeling people with depression often feel, like a pleasure in their sadness, which really stems from the unique perspective depressive people often have about suffering. (I know that edit: [not ]all depressed people feel edit: any pleasure what’s so ever from their symptoms, and I’m not belittling those people at all. Depression sucks, I know.)
For a while my depression was "dormant" in a sense? For a few months I wasnt seeing the effects and I just wasnt feeling like shit all the time. For the past few weeks, however, its been horrible and unmanageable and the tole it takes on my body just makes me feel even more depressed.
Im losing alot of weight, stress acne, my hygiene is horrible, I cant find the motivation to fix my nails or unbraid my hair, several red patches all over my skin from scratching from the anxiety brough on, scars, etc. I feel ugly and I dont even recognize myself in the mirror (when I get the courage to look).
My friends want to hangout with me soon and I dont know if I can bring myself to leave my house. Aside from not wanting to ruin everyones mood I also look as shitty as I feel. Im going to feel humiliated if I step out of my house like this, especially since my friends are all so well dressed and pretty.
This fucking sucks.

So I’m kind of drunk right now but even when sober I feel as though depression cherry is unlike any other kind of piece of music I’ve ever experienced in my life. It makes me feel as though I don’t need anything else in my life except for this album and nothing else has ever made me feel like this and it’s just insane that music does this to me and not a person or a place or anything. I don’t know

One verse perfectly describes every single relationship I've ever been in. People grow up, people change, and people move on without you. Despite criticism, I really like depression cherry just because I think that's the theme of the album and I'm here for it.
I cancelled my plans and took a chill (& much needed) self care night. My soundtrack for tonight is Depression Cherry - this album has been my crutch the past year. I am so grateful for this music & all the peace it has brought me on hard days like today. This shit hits deep. It’s beautiful to have songs that I can relate to. It’s like this music is an expression of some of my most complicated emotions put into this tangible thing that I can interact with & that is beyond amazing. Music is my medicine on hard days like today.

Hang in there friends. Especially on the hard days where that something inside you feels overwhelming. Things will get better, they always do.
