If you have a proven model that can turn $1 into $1.50, thatβs awesome. You make 50% returns.
But⦠if your buddy has a magical power that can convince people that $1 is only worth $0.10, and you buy that dollar for $0.10, you turn that 50% return into 1500% return.
WE HAVE NOT BEEN LOOKING AT THE WHOLE PICTURE
Weβve been looking at the people convincing us that $1 is worth $0.10, but have missed the bigger picture of those that buy the $1 for $0.10 and turn it into $1.50.
Apes and Apettes, itβs time to discuss APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT.

I have chosen to discuss this firm because it relates directly to our beloved Gamestop, and this shit goes DEEP.

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS Apes, I know we like to tease, and some of us hold both, but if you read this article and see what I see in it, please do your best to educate the Popcorn Apes. (Donβt harass or Brigade, let them draw their own conclusions) - But I am now OFFICIALLY worried for them!

Hey, everyone!
I Favor the Villainess is one of the most thoughtful works of literature (not just OI) that I have consumed in a long time, and chapter 18 of the manga adaptation truly went beyond my wildest imaginations, realizing the introduction of the commonersβ movement (a central element of chapter 3 of the LN/act 3 of the WN) in a beautiful way.
I will try to make this analysis as generic as possible for the uninitiated who might be reading this, to whom I shall briefly explain that the setting of the story is a prestigious educational institution mostly attended by aristocrats (basically what youβve already seen lots of times if you read Japanese OI) in a country resembling the late French monarchy, where the reincarnated MC Rae pursues the noble daughter Claire. The gist of the chapter in question is that opponents of the aristocracy gather to protest inside of the Royal Academy, which draws the attention of the student bodyβs predominantly noble upper echelons. This leads to a very interesting discussion about social equality that comprises the first half of the chapter. The manhwa departs from the corresponding light novel passage in certain ways β and even mostly for the better, I would argue. For those of you who own the light novel, feel free to read along starting at page 178 of the first volume.

The most immediate observation to make is the question of who gets to speak in this political discussion. Now, the topic is first raised within the narrative by a commoner student talking about the oppressive nature of the aristocracy β but he is clearly not a character of importance or even just a person of his own, for he is first introduced as a protester and is then never heard from again over the course of the story. Amongst the actual character cast, there is Lambert, the heir to a wealthy merchant family who is technically present throughout most of the talks; however, he mainly plays a detached role, upholding the status quo and

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

It is commonly believed that Early Modern women accused of being witches, made ointments from local plants containing powerful psychoactive agents, which caused hallucinations of flight and other supernatural events. This is the first of two posts examining the history of the hallucinogenic flying ointment narrative, and presenting evidence that it is simply a long standing myth.
This is a very long post. If you'd rather watch something, you can see a video version of this content here.
The claim
One particular feature of historical stories of witches flying, has become particularly embedded in the modern consciousness; the concept of witches using a special ointment to enable flight.
This peculiar feature of historical flying witch stories has been the subject of much study, and today it is widely accepted, even within mainstream scholarship, that even though these ointments did not actually make witches fly, they were made from local plants containing powerful pharmacological agents, which caused the women using the ointment to experience vivid hallucinations of flight and other supernatural events, and so wrongly believe they had flown.
Do your worst!
The Dive
Adreen Lamberts sat in the pilotβs chair, her fingers drumming a non-rhythm on the arm rest. She watched the door, waiting for the rest of the bridge crew. Deban Fenn entered, pulling the mangled remnants of a caff-pack between his teeth. He walked around the perimeter of the bridge, then stopped, seeing Adreen in the pilot's chair. He chuckled, and continued towards her.
βThere she is, the ace of the simulators,β said Deban, as he approached.
Adreen didnβt respond, but gave him a sideways glance with a raised eyebrow and half a smile.
βThatβs Deniβs seat,β Deban said, pointing at Adreenβs chair.
βThen she can take it from me,β said Adreen, in her best serious voice. She nodded at the chair next to hers. The controls were almost identical. βSit down, Co.β
Deban sat, using his legs to swing the swivel-chair in wide arcs. βYou know this may not pan out, right?β he said. Adreen grunted, turning away from Deban to look over the controls. βIβll vouch for you, but ultimately itβs Caps call,β he continued.
Adreen turned to face Deban again, annoyed. βSo what, we just put off maintenance for a few days while Deni heals up?β
βWell, we both know thatβs not really an option. And I wouldnβt have told you to meet me up here if I didnβt think you had a fair shot. I just want it known this isnβt a guarantee,β said Deban. βLetβs switch chairs though, gives a better impression.β
Adreen sighed, then stood up from the pilotβs chair. βSo what happens if she says no?β
βWe go pick up some fully licenced bum from The Dive,β said Deban, sliding into Adreenβs newly vacated seat, βand you go back downstairs to Niko.β Adreen grimaced, and sank into the copilotβs chair. On the other side of the room, the door hissed open. Both chairs' occupants turned to see who had entered.
βCaptain on deck!β Deban yelled. Koba Lehtama scowled at him in an exaggerated way as she crossed the room.
βYou ever going to get tired of that?β asked Koba. As she passed the Captainβs chair, she set down the folder she was carrying. When she was a few steps from Deban and Adreen, she stopped, looking between them. βDeni got in touch with me last night. Apparently she injured her hand badly enough sheβs going to be off for a few days,β said Koba. She looked at Deban. βCan you pilot? This, maybe next dive?β
βOf course,β said Deban.
Kobaβs gaze fell on Adreen. βI take it youβre volunteering as temporary copilot?β
Adreen nodded.
βYouβre still on a provisional pilotβs license, correc

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
