A list of puns related to "Dd Wrt"
Hi everyone,
Is it possible to use dd-wrt to capture and rebroadcast a wifi signal that is protected with WPA2-enterprise? I have the login info, but the signal is really weak and right now I use my phone as an access point to do this, but then I can't use it for anything else, seeing as it needs to stay in that one spot where I have decent signal strength...
Thanks for any help!
Hello, i checked on https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Netgear and this router is indeed supported by DD-WRT.
Went to their ftp with the most recent date ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2022/01-06-2022-r47976/netgear-r7450/ and there's two files:
factory-to-ddwrt.img
r7450-webflash.bin
Problem is there isn't a tutorial or guide for this router, does anyone here have some kind of experience on this router or similar? Is there any file order to update in the GUI to install DD-WRT?
Thank you for the help.
Hi All,
My R7000 router has been constantly disconnecting / rebooting lately and itβs doing my head in! Iβve tried resets and different Netgear firmwares but itβs a daily problem that I canβt seem to fix.
Iβm assuming itβs a firmware issue. Is DD-WRT likely to solve it and be stable?
One function that is essential is the ability to attach USB storage. I currently have 2 x HDDs plugged into the router which allows me to stream movies to numerous devices around the house. Is this a function in DD-WRT?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Those of you who use own router with FreshTomato or DD-WRT, how did you manage to get IPv6 working? All my devices do not get IPv6 addresses assigned.
Hi guys,
Partially Iβve got my wireguard tunnel between pfSense 2.5.2-RELEASE and DD-WRT v3.0-r47893 std working.
At the moment I can access everything on the remote tunnel site (192.168.5.0/24) where the DD-WRT router resides. But I canβt access or ping anything from the remote site to the main site where the pfSense resides. I think I miss some firewall rules on the DD-WRT box. Did some googling around but was not able to find the solution.
Hereβs the config as it is running at the moment.
pfSense
Tunnel IP 10.255.255.100 bound on interface opt3 (WG100 (tun_wg0) with MTU 1400, tunnel port 51820
Peer allowed IPβs 192.168.5.0/24 (remote Site), 10.0.0.0/24 (local site), 10.255.255.200/32 (remote tunnel IP)
Static Routes 192.168.5.0/24 to gateway 10.255.255.100 and 10.255.255.0/24 to gateway 10.255.255.100
Firewall rules for Wire guard, WAN and WG100 (Gateway) created with no restrictions (full access)
DD-WRT
Peer Tunnel IP 10.255.255.200 with MTU 1400, tunnel port 51820
Peer allowed IPβs 10.0.0.0/24 (remote Site), 192.168.5.0/24 (local site), 10.255.255.100/32 (remote tunnel IP)
Routing Tables
1: 10.0.0.0/24 to gateway 10.255.255.200
2: 10.255.255.0/24 to gateway 10.255.255.200
Like I said, can access all from 10.0.0.0/24 to 192.168.5.0/24 but nothing from 192.168.5.0/24 to 10.0.0.0/24
Hope you guy's can help me with this. Please ask me if you need more information.
Regards,
Herman F.
Can someone provide me with a step-by-step tutorial to setup a VPN tunnel between my pfSense firewall and a remote dd-wrt box as client.
Found several examples online wich I tried te get running. But somehow the tunnel won't show as up on the pfSense console. Also pinging both ends does not work.
Honestly I don't knowing where the problem resides. Is it the tunnel itself or maybe missing routes?
PfSense net is: 10.0.0.0/24 Gateway:10.0.0.254 DD-WRT net is: 192.168.5.0/24 Gateway: 192.168.5.1 Tunnel network is: 10.0 8.0/24
Of course both boxes are connected to the internet via the WAN interface.
Some help would be appreciated...
Thanks in advance....
Stay healthy and Merry Christmas to everyone....

I have a spare R7000P router that I flashed DD-WRT to. I'd like to add it to my Ubiquiti network but there are so many options that I don't even know where to start. Any favorite features from those who use DD-WRT? I'd for sure like to get my VPN setup and probably some network storage.
I just switched to dd-wrt last week from the native Netgear firmware in my R6700v1 for two reasons. 1) I wanted the ability to do a lot more with my router and 2) I guess I just donβt have enough headaches in my life so I wanted to add more π€£. I spent roughly a month before my first flash trying to absorb a lot of the info on there and I am a highly technical guy as I have been working in the IT & home systems/tech integration field since the late 90βs.
One thing that I canβt seem to get a decent straight answer on based on just all of the forum posts is regarding which firmware Iβm supposed to be using. Iβve seen it said that you should look it up in the database and start with those two first (the factory -> ddwrt and then the full blown firmware), to ignore the database and use the latest and greatest, and Iβve also seen it said to go into either the Broadcom or Atheros (depending on the hardware in your router) and then use what it says there. There doesnβt seem to be any type of cohesion there between any of the reasonings for doing anything though. I actually love beta software and have been a dev beta tester for both Microsoft (since the XP days) and Apple (since the iPhone 4) and continue to do so to this day. What I would like though is the ability to downgrade at times and use a little bit of a βless betaβ build. What I mean is for example, this past week I went out of town on vacay and left my kids (19&20) at home and had to remote in 2-3 times to fix something for them as well as walk them thru an on-site fix so they could get internet back because there was no WAN presence as far as the router was concerned. Iβm not claiming to fully understand all the settings on ddwrt yet, but I would like to know that when the version that Iβm working with and learning what each class of settings affects, that if I change something and causes it to blow up on me that it was whatever value I changed that caused it and not a glitch somewhere in that specific beta build.
I guess what Iβm looking for is more or less this: what is the most stable build (cause I get that all of the ddwrt builds are provided as a beta only) that I can use as a learning jumping off point?
i am using Netgear R7000 with the latest dd-wrt i am not a network guy but i do know some basics i just wanted to confirm with you guys that i did this the right way.
I've entered 1.1.1.1 as static 1 and 1.0.0.1 as static 2 and static 3 is set to 0.0.0.0
and i have unchecked DNSMasq i did this because whenever i used to run this command on cmd 'nslookup google.com' with dnsmasq un checked i never got the address 1.1.1.1 unless its unchecked
is there anything i should do or missing something?
you guys help will mean allot to me
I'm sorry to ask. I have unsuccessfully searched for answers though.
I have been trying to use the above Router flashed by Flashrouters along with ProtonVPN. I'm having a few issues as compared to an older TPLINK Archer C7.
Issues included
- speed,
- connectivity (with home automation stuff) most devices have transitioned well, while no CE Smart devices have reconnected (yes, I'm using the same SSID and Password),
- Video streaming services are really slow and the resolutions is degraded significantly as is the connection in general.
any thoughts will be gratefully accepted and fully attempted.
I have DIR-626L from D-Link and when I checked https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/
I did not see - my router on the list. closest I see is 615 and 632
so if I flash one of the available firmware - what will happen? will I brick it?
Currently running DD-WRT. Been pretty happy with it, but have been wondering about other options. Seems like OpenWRT is crippled on Broadcom WiFi devices, so that's out.
I'm not at all an advanced user, although I do like using this as a learning opportunity. Current use case is pretty lightweight.
One of the biggest draws for me to FreshTomato is the seemingly more specific development for supported hardware. There is an R6300v2 DD-WRT build, but the latest forum posts for tested builds are pretty old. On the other hand, I see several mentions of the R6300v2 in the last FreshTomato changelog.
From what I understand, DD-WRT probably has more features, but I don't know if any of those are ones I'd even be able to make use of if I wanted to.
WiFi speed isn't that important for me (stability is though), but with OpenWRT's issue with Broadcom, I wonder if there's a significant difference in WiFi performance between FreshTomato and DD-WRT.
Anyway, sorry for rambling a bit. Thanks for any input!
What is going on with the dd-wrt forum?
I have tried several times over the past few weeks to either sign in or sign up for the official dd-wrt forum at: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/
First I tried using my primary email address; it said I already have an account there. Great! All I have to do is reset the password - except there is no automatic way to do that if you don't remember your username - you have to send an email to a mod and wait for them to do it manually. No reply after nearly three weeks.
So, no big deal, I will just create a new account. I tried using my other email addresses to sign up for a new account. I even got paranoid and used my VPN to change my geolocation. Every time, it says that a verification email will be sent to create the account, and every time I get nothing. Absolutely nothing.
No, I wasn't banned from their forum. It's been years since I last logged in, and I lost my username and password. You cannot reset your password unless you remember your username; your email alone isn't sufficient'
Yes, I have checked the spam filters and junk folders for all the email accounts. NOTHING.
Seriously, what is going on ?
Do they not have an automated system to send verification emails to create new accounts either? The mods have to handle every email and new account request manually, and are too busy or can't be bothered?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
I'm working in Linux. I want to ssh into my server, whose hostname is "server". I can ssh in with its IP address (ssh me@192.168.1.148, for example), but I get an error if I ssh in with me@server.
"ssh me@server
ssh: Could not resolve hostname server: Name or service not known"
The DHCP clients table in System Information shows server as a DHCP client.
How do I enable accessing hosts by hostname rather than by IP address ?
Thanks
I have Pia setup on my dd-wrt router everything seems to be working except when I do a leaktest it is showing up as sharktech. I am using the dns of 10.0.0.242 shouldn't it show up as London limited?
I have Tp- link Archer A7 V5
I found original firmware on tp link website and openwrt page is here
https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_a7_v5
I want vlan aware routing features but original firmware seems like only good iptv (please check image)
So wondering if openwrt firmware makes it totally Vlan Aware?
Having trouble figuring out how to do it. Would enjoy help.
I have a home Lan with a router running DD-WRT.
I travel a lot for work, and want to be able to bring another DD-WRT router with me on trips, set it up when I am in a hotel room and be able to plug my PCs (both windows and linux) into it to reach my home network as if I was home (so that PCs have a local 192.168.xx.xx address on my home Lan and can access all local resources at home).
As I have multiple PCs when on trips, I don't want have to install or maintain any special vpn software on the travel PCs, just I want to plug them into my travel DD-WRT router and have everything work the same as if I was at home with the PCs plugged into the home DD-WRT router. (so the travel router and home router are transparently taking care of all the bridging..etc when I am travelling)
Presumably this would be a bridge of some sort between the two DD-WRT routers. Would anyone know what this is called specifically and how to set this up with DD WRT?
Thank you!
Hi,
So i made a topic a couple of days ago about monitoring my network using my rcn arris modem/router. unfortunately i wasn't able to get anything done even though i got some good answers.
So i bought a router, tp-link archer c7 c1750 and installed dd-wrt on it.
I was wondering is there anything I can use to monitor the network data on that? I know you can see the bandwidth on dd-wrt but im interested in deeper monitoring.
So today while I was on the PC it lost wifi connection but cable one was fine and everything else works.
The status page of the router says the radio is on, but the wifi SSID can't be seen, tested from 3 different devices.
How to make sure it is the radio that burned (router is 10+ years old) and need to replace it or it is something software that can be fixed?
As the subject says, the web interface of DD-WRT is very slow for me. I'll admit that I haven't poked around in it for probably years (it just works and works great), but I'm trying to set up WDS and it's soooo sloooow!
Hardware is Netgear R7000 nighthawk, running this firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r31205M kongac (02/03/17)
Any advice? Should I update the firmware?
I was under the impression that Dishy perform NAT, so I assumed that I would be able to operate my DD-WRT router in "Roter" mode instead of "Gateway" mode to avoid double NAT, but I can't get it to work.
I was able to set up a static route toDishy, but had to use the actual WAN IP address assigned to my router by Dishy instead of leaving the gateway as 0.0.0.0 or 192.168.0.1, as suggested by some tutorials.
Any suggestions?
Could someone please point me in the right direction to complete my dd-wrt setup?
I installed dd-wrt on my old ASUS RT-AC66U wireless router, to provide wifi at my gf's condo. It's set up as a wireless repeater to use an "xfinitywifi" access point for internet. I had that up and running without a problem. Then, I installed Wireguard on both the ASUS router and the pfsense firewall box at my house. The goal is to have all outbound traffic from the ASUS dd-wrt router at the condo go through the wireguard tunnel to the pfsense box at my house, and then out to the internet. I also got that up and running without too much trouble, once I enabled the pfsense interface for the tunnel and defined firewall rules for it.
Here's the problem: I would like to be able to access the LANs at each end of the tunnel from both locations. This worked right away from the condo to my house; my computer connected to the dd-wrt router at the condo can access anything on the LAN at my house without a problem, and I can set firewall rules in pfsense on the tunnel interface to restrict what can and can't be accessed from the condo. The problem is when I try going from my house to the condo. I can ping the router, and my computer at the condo from my house. But, no matter what I try, I simply can't figure out how to access the web interface of the dd-wrt router from my house.
The LAN at my house is 192.168.1.0/24. The LAN at the condo is 192.168.4.0/24. (The dd-wrt router is 192.168.4.1.) The tunnel endpoints are 10.26.4.1 (house) and 10.26.4.2 (condo). I defined a gateway on the pfsense box for the tunnel interface, and set up a static route for 192.168.4.0/24 via 10.26.4.1 so my house LAN can reach the condo LAN. Like I said above, I can ping the router at 192.168.4.1. I just can't get the dd-wrt web interface to load from the house LAN.
I have googled this and tried everything to the best of my understanding, but I just can't get it to work. I tried disabling NAT on the tunnel in dd-wrt. Of course, enabling "Remote Access" on the Administration tab of dd-wrt is no help in my case, because it creates rules to access the web interface from the public WAN, not from the tunnel. Using PuTTY from the computer at the condo, I tried adding rules to IPTABLES in dd-wrt to copy those "Remote Access" rule
... keep reading on reddit β‘I am using 4G internet atm so I am stuck with my ISP's hotspot. I am planning to take a fiber broadband connection & once I do that I will be using my own router/firewall. I haven't decided yet which router/firewall solution I am going to use. The only reason I want to use solutions like DD-WRT, pfSense, OPNsense, OpenBSD is security. I use Linux on my desktop & I update it everyday. I don't miss a single day. In short I want a router/firewall which is well supported & releases security updates in a timely manner. I searched the term "how to update dd-wrt" on Youtube and found videos showing how to install a completely new version of DD-WRT over the old one. I am a bit confused. So suppose I buy a DD-WRT supported router & download the specific firmware which is meant for my router model. Let say the version of DD-WRT is called 1.bin. Will I be able to install security updates while I am using 1.bin or installing updates under DD-WRT means replacing the firmware with the next release like 2.bin ?
What is mean is for example I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on my desktop atm & I receive updates regularly & it will be supported for 5 years from the date of release. When the next LTS comes out I will be installing that.
Is DD-WRT's update model different ?
This is an image of pfSense's update process. I found the image from the web.
I was looking for a way to install other software on dd-wrt - starting with the nano text editor (as a simple test case, and because I prefer nano), and then on to other packages.
Maybe it's common knowledge, but what's needed is the "Entware" package manager. I wasted a lot of time reading outdated information about ipkg and Optware, before realizing that they are both obsolete.
Here are my hopefully simple and concise directions for other dd-wrt newbies:
Is there a setting in DD-WRT that I can change to speed up my R8000 Netgear unit? Directly to the ONT I get 100-150mbps faster than i get with the router connected??
Hey,
I was able to get my router working earlier this year. It has sat unplugged for about 3/4 months and I tried it again. It wouldn't connect to Winscribe so I updated all of my information with a new VPN location. I'm still unable to connect. Can anyone help by looking at my routers logfile to see if they can see what the issue may be? Any help would be much appreciated.
I followed the setup guide here:

I've been reading a lot on the forums trying to see if this will work as I feel it should. I'm no networking expert but i've been trying to read my way through the problem. I have basic understanding.
Situation: I'm abroad and I want to VPN for geographical reasons, let's hypothetically say to the US.
*Caveat* until this evening based on my research I thought VPN services didn't work as intended on starlink from everything I'd been reading due to CGNAT. That's why I was surprised when I tested NORDVPN on Starlink and it worked. Thanks for reading this!
Hi all,
I am having issues trying to set up a static route in DD-WRT. I am using build DD-WRT v3.0-r47608 (10/28/21) on a Netgear R7000 router.
I have read the following topics trying to get this working:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink_Support/comments/ldsnb8/routing_app_in_ddwrt/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/jxkz1q/anyone_know_how_to_get_the_starlink_app_to_work/
The issue I am having is that DD-WRT won't seem to save my static route; I go to "Setup > Advanced Routing" and fill out the required information and then click "Apply Settings" at the bottom of the page and it does not save.
Here is a quick video showing the issue: https://zach-thewebdeveloper.tinytake.com/msc/NjAxMzA4M18xODIzMTY1OA
Anyone know how I can get this working?
Thanks in advance.
I recently obtained this router and tried installing Tomato on it, but I couldn't find any builds for it so I went to DD-WRT.
The install instructions seemed a bit complicated, but I began by flashing the factory-to-ddwrt.bin, which after that was done put me back on the stock firmware. I then flashed ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acv2-webflash.bin, after that, the power light on my router only blinks and never goes solid, and my PC doesn't doesn't get a gateway IP, so I can't configure my router.
What do I do?
